-GODAMNIT ITS BORING-
[review by a non fanboy] [contains early game of thrones spoilers]
Samurai Champloo, the alleged little brother of the classic anime Cowboy Bebop. Both works rely heavily on music, are episodic and have a very similar feel to them but, if you ask me, Champloo is just Shinichiro Watanabe's bastard and not the good - Jon Snow type but the Tommen Baratheon overly-calm-and-boring type.
I generally really like episodic shows; (1)they aren't addictive so you can do things between episodes besides biological functions, (2)the characters' personalitites are well-explored so you get to see many dimensions of their personality, (3)the interactions between the protagonists can be
...
lovingly repetitive without getting annoying and (4)the anime may span many many episodes, i like that. Well, Champloo only (over)does the first of these.
1-It's not addictive sure, but for me it was one of the few anime that i felt the need to drop (but i couldn't i'm a completionist); the story was so basic and advanced like a very slow snail. After getting to know the characters and what their adventure was about in the first few episodes, essentially nothing happened until the last 3 episodes or so, except very few episodes that gave some background story about the protagonists or had an interesting supporting character. I get that the show is supposed to be calm and chill but this got to the point of being a total bore.
2-The characters personalitites are extremely basic (check their entries they're tiny) to the point that they can be fully described with 2 words. Mugen - Impulsive, Irritable || Jin - Reverse Mugen || Fuu - Hungry, Determined (in that order). Also i have to add that they are all very stubborn. About their past, we learn very basic things, where-what-why leave. People from their past come for 1 episode and dissapear again.
3-Well just as the characters themselves, the interactions between them are also very one dimensional and annoyingly repetitive. Typical Interaction: Mugen does something, Fuu reacts to Mugen's action, Jin gives zero fucks.
4-Well i do like my anime bigger but this wasn't the case for Samurai Champloo thank god, I would've killed myself if this crap was even 1 episode longer. In this case actually, i think it would have been preferable if this series was shorter, since all those pointless filler episodes would have gone down the drain and the interesting stuff would have remained, making the watching experience actually bearable.
Overall an anime with great animation, sound and potential but terrible execution. Tons of filler, unexplored plotlines and a very weak and basic narrative. One of the most boring anime i've seen, only comparable to Gantz and some hentai. I don't recommend watching it but hearing the OST is a good option.

So this is a nice little video about a space mission between the american and japanese space agencies. The Dual Frequency Precipitation radar launched as a part of the GPM Core Observatory which successfully launched from Tanegashima Space Center, Japan, on February 27th, 2014 at 1:37pm EST. It's still in orbit the moment i am writing this review.
About the actual video: As you would expect from such a short video, the story is pretty poor but it actually exists so not too bad for 6 mins i guess. The animation is actually very good, some nice space shots and the characters are also nicely done.
...
The music is not particularly to my liking. The characters say a total of 3-4 lines so nothing there. I kind of enjoyed it because of the animation and the fact that it was based on reality. Overall a decent video, wouldn't recommend against watching it.

-Imagine if you an SO that kept talking to you all the time about how you're going to get married and then dumps you after your first kiss. No matter how amazing they might have been, you're kind of bound to hate them.- That's how NGNL made me feel. Not the first anime I've watched that did this, but definitely the best (other examples are Deadman Wonderland and High School of the Dead). What i mean is that this anime, throughout these 12 episodes keeps building up a whole story in a beautiful way. "Sora and Shiro's mission to defeat god by beating the whole
...
world with their gaming skills", a story with huge potential that appealed to so many viewers that the anime is the 12th most popular anime on MAL, right after Future Diary (#11). But if you're wondering how two kids from this world can conquer a new one and become gods in 12 episodes, guess what, [spoiler?] they don't... We get an entire first season that builds up a plot worthy of at least 50 episodes, but we stop at 12. Some could say that this entire anime is just a promotion for the light novel and i couldn't agree more. If you decide to watch this, be prepared to never get closure (the ending is a cliffhanger ffs).
Moving onto the regular review part:
Story - Extremely interesting. I presonally found the whole concept amazing and finished the whole anime in one go. Paced really well, doesn't let you get bored for a second, i didn't think of any episodes as fillers or that any plot points were rushed. As i mentioned above, there are many hints and stuff that are supposed to be explored in future seasons but the problem is that those don't exist. Generally, i think everyone can understand what's going on, but there are some points when Sora's explaining is a bit too complex that you may not really get what just happened. On the individual points, the comedy is decent, doesn't really crack you up but i wouldn't call it bad and the ecchi is pretty limited something i would say is to be expected from a PG-rated anime.
Art - Well this is a weird one. The animation was good for the most part, as it is with the other Madhouse productions, but the saturation was really off-the-effin-scale. Yes i agree that vivid colors are really nice, especially when the setting is a game but dammit 12 episodes with a saturation that high has its toll on the viewers eyes and the quality of the work. Since toddlers can't watch this you don't have to try that hard to appeal to the audience with such colors, you're not making toys.
Sound - Didn't really notice since i was either worrying about how the story wouldn't end in 12 episodes or trying to figure out what happened when i was worrying. OP was really good (i have it on loop rn), i never watch the ED when bingeing.
Characters - Sora and Shiro, the type of gamer every gamer aspires to be. Both geniuses, each covering the other's weaknesses. A great pair, but they're siblings so that's that. The characters generally are pretty interesting, as their personalities and relations are influenced by their respective races. Steph is usually the funniest around, since the siblings are too busy displaying their intelligence and game sense.
Enjoyment - I think this is the part where everyone has their own opinion so you're about to read mine. All in all, i really enjoyed this anime. The concept was new to me, the protagonists reminded me of dear Lelouch and the episodes were all fun. Never got bored and kept wanting to watch the next one, despite my gut telling me that the story wouldn't conclude this season around the 3rd episode. Despite that, i tried and managed to enjoy it very much while watching, even though now i'm sad knowing i won't know what happens next for a good year at least, if ever.
TL;DR: Incomplete story, really bright colors, amazing concept, great OP

After reading all those huge reviews about this anime to get some inspiration im kind of tired so i'll keep this as short as i can. Also the guidelines seem good so maybe i'll get some inspiration from them.
Why 9/10?
I'm a simple person, if i like an anime i rate it high, if i dont you can guess. Meaning, enjoyment is the biggest factor for my overall rating.
Story
Ridiculous, really. The whole concept cannot be described in a better word than stupid. But that's actually the reason it's great.
Art
Starting the first episode i'm thinking like, when was this made last century or what? It may look
...
bad in the beginning, but not much later you forget that because of how vivid and lively it is. It may seem a bit extravagant at times but it blends really well with everything.
Sound-Good, music fit with the atmosphere. Music really shines in episode 11. OPs are good, i never stick around to hear the EDs.
Characters
Each character was unique in both looks and personality. They were well-rounded and their stories follow the main plot nicely. Protagonist is a bit classic but the antagonist is rather special. Supporting characters also add to the story and complete the main ones.
and last but not least, E N J O Y M E N T
Outstanding really. The comedy is funny, the comedy/ecchi mix is out-of-this world funny. I'm not really the crying type, but this anime made me cry a bit too much (from laughing). The sexual undertones are a bit too obvious at some points contributing to the whole atmosphere.
Why you should watch this
If you can supress your inner anime snob, this anime should be really entertaining for anyone. The word "serious" should not be contained in anything related to this. It's pure comedy, made in order to make the viewer laugh and focus on that. Everything mixes really well and serves this purpose. Ideal to help you unwind after a long day or as a break after watching too much of another genre.
24 episodes of pure, relentless humor.

[I usually prefer the action, adventure or mystery genres but made an exception for Toradora! in order to complete an item in the anime watching challenge, plus it's very popular and I guess i wanted a break from the types of anime I usually watch.]
My review:
From the very first episode, Toradora seemed like a fun anime; great characters and good laughs. I actually really appreciated they way it was funny, that being with almost zero cringe, which is pretty hard to see these days (in american series and the few anime i've seen so far). It was fun to watch and I wouldn't have realized that
...
I'd watched 12 episodes in a row if I hadn't gotten hungry. Story is pretty good and original, no meet-and-fall-in-love here. Watching the characters and the relationships between them evolve is the best part. The quality is about the same in all the episodes without the plot repeating itself. Not really anything especially bad or good about the animation; the music is okay I guess, the thing I liked about it was the 1st opening because it felt like a great match for the whole thing.
Tbh, loved this anime and 10/10 would watch again, seriously thought about rating it with 10 but I just can't really call it a masterpiece, probably because it's not my favorite genre.
A lil' tip about the last episode, don't miss the actual ending that starts after the credits roll out, it's really worth it!
