They both involve revival, fear, drama, uncertainty. People wanting to kill you. Not sure if someone is your ally or enemy. Both have a level of horror / gore (implied or otherwise). Both leave you really, really wanting to see the next episode. Both have a good focus on the nature, personality, and morality of various peoples/characters -- is someone being evil because they kill? Both start with a sort of mediocre high school male character, and both show subtle but minimal growth with the hint of future growth of the MC. Ajin is obviously more supernatural with a focus on humanity and violence, whereas Re Zero is more fantasy and over-the-top characters with a focus on the characters themselves, and especially the MC's perspective and mental workings.
