Great production values and as a whole, a great RULE OF COOL series that has the EPIC FACTOR. So I recommend it for that

Unlike this short, "The House of the little cubes" flesh out the characters and the setting in the short time it has, it doesn't manipulate the spectator with cheap soap opera tricks, the art style is fantastic and the music is beautiful. I consider it a must-watch if you love animation

Another "Kyoto Animation" work with good production values. In this one, while being a slice-of-life, there's an actual character progression, theme exploration, and the girls aren't moe blobs. The end was a bit rushed but as a whole, it didn't ruin the experience. Plus, I'm a fan of musicals and the music here is great

They are both Queer stories. Unlike "Given", this one doesn't have much of a story, is mostly symbolism and character interaction. What makes Utena more interesting to watch is that this one has actual themes going on, the animation and illustration are great, the music is phenomenal and the Aesthetics is really unique. Is mostly spectacle, but for what it is, has charm and doesn't feel like a waste of time.

It has a high school setting and the main characters are teenagers... But, this one is more creative, has more intelligent writing, there's a slower narrative that allowed to flesh out better the characters and the setting. Also, it has intellectuality on it, not a big one, but it has. Plus, no fan service.

It is also made by Kyoto Animation. Funny enough, a school anime about 4 kids living their life has more subtle writing, intellectuality, and charisma. The animation is also beautiful, being both from the same studio

It has a similar style... More than an anime, it feels like a cartoon. Charming characters and a creative set-up. It is also from the same creator

It is a happy-go-lucky slice-of-life with some nice jokes here and there. Clannad is by far more intelligent in his themes and is a lot more complex than this show ever wanted to be. It is not a masterpiece but is more interesting than the 12 episodes of this anime.
