I trust Studio Bind, Mushoku Tensei is a masterclass in story writing being able to turn a negative premise into a well thought out story and I think Onimai succeeds in that as well. As a guy, I can say that I don't understand the way of a female and this is a show that is willing to explain it in a way that us monkey-brain males can comprehend.
Like let's take episode 2's public bath scene, I sigh at the fact that I have to go through this again but I was shocked that by the end I started to understand the merits of
...
washing your hair and a bit of understanding on why it's so much harder for females. This is the first time I've seen something from the female's perspective that I can understand and I think it handled the different sex swap better than Your Name but I have a feeling people ignore that fact because it's Makoto Shinkai.
I can't say that the fanservice is high, it's not as distracting as say something like Ms. Kobayashi but I have a feeling people take it lightly because it's Kyo-ani.
Other aspect that I love that is also highlighted is the sibling's relationship, you can feel the strain of Mahiro who looks down at himself because he feels like his younger sister is doing better than than him and you see that Mihari doesn't care about all that and only wants time with her brother and uses the situation they're in to bond and strengthen their relationship. On top of that the dialogue between them is realistic and something that I can relate with.
It is refreshing it watch something is simple and ironically very wholesome (9/10 for now)
P.S. So the tip for new writers section said not to much pronouns but I can't help it
