The best part about Asobi Asobase is that it accomplishes what it sets out to do in every episode: give you a situation and let the personalities of those in that room take hold of it. All the characters introduced in this series are there intentionally and are not discarded, which is always an excellent move for a series to make to keep it enjoyable. I genuinely wish there was more to watch, but it's very easy to rewatch. The art style is incredible and often times can even make you a bit squeamish, but always for the best. If you enjoy an absurd comedy ... series, this is the perfect watch.

One of the most critical parts of storytelling is that there is development, whether in the story or in the characters. That just simply does not happen in this 12-episode cut, and it is one of the most frustrating parts of this show. When you have characters that are clearly both sorting through their own dilemmas, you would expect by the end that there is some resolution to at least some dilemma, however, that never arrives. It's a shame that the GL genre often has one-and-done, but that's the unfortunate reality, and with that in mind, this show either needed a sequel or needed to ... give some type of foreshadowing, and it accomplished neither. I don't think this is necessarily the fault of the series' creators, but at the authors themselves for trying to extend out something that doesn't need an extension.

A follow-up to read the novels, if you truly do like this series, is necessary but very underwhelming.
