Both are adaptations of works by the brilliant Naoki Urasawa. Aside from the distinctive art style, the main element which binds them together are their main characters. Kenzo Tenma and Taichi Keaton are both highly intelligent and resourceful, and are always willing to help those who are in need. The main difference between the two series is the plot – Monster features a complex, overarching story, whereas Master Keaton is very much an episodic series.

The premises of both series are, at their most basic level, very similar, if not identical – a cast of predominantly female characters are essentially “reborn” into a new way of life, with no recollection of who they were previously. The girls in both series experience similar emotional and existential dilemmas. In general, these are series in which drama and atmosphere take precedence over action.

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita

While these two anime couldn't be more dissimilar in terms of art style, tone, and pacing, they do both explore the theme of humanity's decline as a species. Texhnolyze is a dark, slow paced, and extremely moody series that handles the subject matter in a very serious fashion. Jinrui wai Suitai Shimashita, on the other hand, is infinitely more humorous and colorful, though dark undertones are still present throughout. I would recommended both of these series to anyone who is interested in seeing a similar theme handled in two completely different ways.
