"The next Nagi no Asukara" quickly turned into the disappointment of the summer for most, but actually entertained me. Are you raising your brow yet wondering, "why give an anime a 7 that's heavily hated on?"
With Nagi no Asukara ending a few months before Glasslip was released, we had high expectations for it thinking it would live up to the hype that Nagi produced. By no means am I saying this anime is perfect, it isn't, it has a bunch of flaws, but still doesn't deserve that amount of hate it's getting in my opinion.
It opens with the group of friends having fun at
...
a summer festival and showing each of their names, along with a unique event that the main character experiences. From there you're introduced to a new transfer student and he causes a stir within the group of friends and it begins to kick off from there. One flaw that this anime opens up with, is no character introduction. No one is properly introduced and you're literally just thrown into the story.
The story was driven by the concept of Touko, the main character, being able to see visions or hear voices that may hint to the future. The "fragments of the future" are the main thing that drives the story, but it doesn't exactly get told what it is or why it's even there. With the obvious love cycle that this group has, feelings get told and nothing happens, the group just spreads apart and it stays that way for most of the anime.
One big flaw in the entire anime is that nothing does happen, it's sad to say, but things just go in a big circle and end in a big unclear ending that answers absolutely nothing. The entire situation that all the characters went through with their heart breaks and confessions, just goes nowhere.
With the anime having a bad story, you have mediocre characters to really back up it up. I won't say these are the worst characters that i've seen, cause i've seen worse, but some things they do are really questionable and just tend to make the overall anime confusing, but did entertain me. Due to the show being a slice of life, it's heavily character driven, and the cast isn't exactly the best for what the show was trying to do. Mainly the anime focuses on Touko and "David". Those are the two with the ability to see "fragments of the future" and share the ability. They drive the story with the curiosity to figure out why they have it and what it does, which never does get answered.
Touko is a typical teenage girl and probably the most prominent of her group of friends. She's very curious and tends to be oblivious to the situation tending to make things worse. She had potential to be a great character, but didn't shine as much as she could have and really just made the anime repeat a bunch of things that already happened.
Next you have Kakeru, or David, the transfer student who just shows up. Like literally just shows up and is thrown into the story. With his appearance, he throws the group into conflict and even admits that hes messing with them to some extent on purpose. He's a lot like Tsumugu from Nagi, but less emotion. He does have his moments of why he does things, but it feels like he was just placed there cause they needed another character to fill the spot.
The rest of the group is diversely made up and is one of the things that I enjoyed. Though they all literally just made more conflict and served no purpose in the story whatsoever, they made a lot of entertaining moments and gave the anime more life than what was given. You have characters who aren't even involved in the drama and have their own love story, and characters that mess up the drama further, by doing actions that are just questionable, but adds for a whole lot of interesting interactions and situations to keep the story from dying off.
Art is possibly one of the best things this anime has to offer. The art comes from the famous P.A Works who has previously worked on Tari Tari, Hanasaku Iroha, and Nagi no Asukara. The scenery from the hikes, to the fragments and visions that Touko sees are all beautiful and give the anime a lot more entertainment to it. One thing i'd like to point out was the detail given to the entire environment that they were in. You can definitely feel the sea side thanks to the detail in moss on the walls, to the waves moving and animals surrounding it. With all the praise i'm giving the art, it's not perfect. A lot of scenes aren't fluid due to the characters. They're all drawn beautifully, but all lack facial expressions. They tend to have only one straight face through out the entire scene except for the occasional angry face, or confused face.
Classical music has always been one of the things I love listening to and this anime has a lot of it. The soundtrack for this anime is possibly one of its biggest strengths and things that keep it going. From the sound effects of the fragments to just the beach or animal sounds, the anime did a splendid job making you feel like you were there and brought life to anime. The voice acting was nothing too great, but actually wasn't bad at all. If the characters showed the emotions that the voice actors were giving off, it would have been much better.
Overall I think this anime is being judged much harsher than it deserves to be. It does have many flaws, but a lot of points to cover it up. This series is definitely a hit or a miss for many people, but also has bad timing of its production. With the previous anime of P.A works just ending and getting a lot of praise, you're given a lot of expectation for their next work to be of the same caliber. Then with the strong line up that this Summer season has had, from Barakamon to SAO 2, you have something that lacks from the pack and is being pointed out on all of it's flaws. I think anyone can like this or have an unbiased opinion going into this, if they don't compare it to something else, cause this is it's own anime. It's not suppose to be a copy of something else.

Individuality is something every person has, but can be judged harshly.
When growing up, people are classified by groups and "norms" which are typical things everyone does, but when people step out of it they get frowned upon and ridiculed. This OVA shows a realistic point of view of how something like that can affect a person and make them into a puppet of the norm and be someone they don't wish to be.
This 25 short minute film packs all emotion, story and theme in a way I have never seen before. It shows that everyone has their own personality and is unique to their self.
...
Everyone has a world that they live in. You see each character having their own likes and dislikes while also seeing a barrier between the differences in everyone.
This film presents you a song that a girl named Juri made. She heard the song in a dream and tried to spread it to everyone, but it backfired making people call her a liar. She goes through the pain of it all and decides to leave the song and her dream of it in the past. It does a really great job portraying the emotions that she felt and how it's like a block in the road for her to continue.
The film starts off with Akio and his friends talking about an anime they all like and he pulls out his phone to play a piece he heard during a show, but stops due to someone complaining. It plays the show in a way as if you're actually there and experiencing everything as it all lays out.
The anime shows a realistic view of the downsides of an interest we may like, but does a good job showing that there are people who can accept it and make friends off it. You see everyone of similar interests together and enjoying it. The show can be interpreted in many ways and leaves the viewer with an open minded thought at the end of it. How you view it and perceive it as is based upon ourselves.

Culture is unique upon one's own setting and which people have pride upon, but when a new culture is introduced clash occurs between the two and the differences need time to settle in.
This anime is set in the late 19th century France. The anime shows the culture differences between European and Japanese culture, but shows that they're similar in more ways than you may think. From the outside the anime looks like a typical "moe" with a cute girl, but it offers a lot more to give the viewer entertainment. It's a little slow paced, but really does a good job working with what it
...
has.
The anime has a story that is nothing new, but it does a good job adding its own touches to distinct it from others. The anime has wonderful art that I enjoyed throughout the entire show. The realistic details that are given to the surroundings and the characters are wonderful. They also tackled both cultures to show the differences and how they relate beautifully and gives a little insight to those who don't know the other culture. The sound was always fitting the mood and made the anime a lot more calm and gave it a nice feeling from start to end. The characters were all unique and had some sort of relation to the development of the story and was really important for the anime to be the anime that it is.
The story in this follows Yune, a Japanese girl, going to 19th century France. It's a basic story that has the concept of a person going to a new land that they're not use to and has to adjust to it. Although the story is nothing new, that doesn't mean it's bad in anyway. The idea of her being introduced to a new culture brings a lot of comedy and realism to how different or how similar cultures can be.
If there's one thing this anime excels in it would be art. The art in this anime is just wonderful. The detail to the buildings and the style of clothes that the characters wore really reflected on the feel that the time period would have given off. Even with the Japanese culture, all the kimonos and the items that are used show excellent detail and really shows the cultures to the fullest. The characters were all drawn really beautifully and actually had really nice art. The quality never did dip which I loved and stayed top quality.
The sound for this anime was something I enjoyed through the entire anime which made it overall better. The background music always fit the mood the anime was trying to give off and complimented it to make it even better. The opening is really peaceful and gives off the right type of mood to start off each episode and really makes you relaxed. The voice actors were wonderful and really portrayed the emotion that the characters were giving off.
The characters are all wonderful and really made the anime what it is. You have Yune who is a girl introduced to a new world, but how did she get there? She got there from a man named Oscar Claudel. He's the father type of person in the anime and gives off the nice mood when needed and tries to help Yune and his grandson Claude whenever help is needed.
Second you have Claude. The grandson of Oscar and is the one who takes care of Yune. His character is built from his past and really shows the precautions he has of a new person being around. His character development is wonderful and really shows growth over the entire anime.
Third you have the Blanche sisters Camille and Alice. Alice is the carefree sister and tends to love having Yune around and playing while learning more about the Japanese culture. Shes more of the comedy character while Camille is the more serious sister. She partakes in all of the family activities and shows some secrets of the past between Claude and her.
The characters are well developed and are interesting due to the fact of the anime having a serious tone in some parts. It adds more depth to the anime and really makes the characters more well rounded and all around better interaction between all of them.
This anime is not a masterpiece, but worth to watch. It combines every element to make beautiful interactions and an overall warm theme. I'd recommend anyone who enjoys historical anime to check this out. Even though the show may seem bland, the anime really steps up and proves its worth.

The hype of 2013 leading to an ending that closed off lots of action and questions throughout its run. With an anime that has a lot of hype, comes a lot of conflict between haters and people who genuine enjoy the anime. Shingeki no Kyojin is an anime that made peaks in sales and getting fans world wide, but is it really worth watching?
The concept of humanity being at the brink of extinction, this is one emphasizes it's fight for survival and the ups and downs of their fight for victory. With the first episode starting off with a great clincher to get you
...
excited for the rest of series, you get a little view of how each character is and their view point towards the situation.
Due to the story of humans being driven to extinction, you often get an anime that can be a hit or a miss depending on how they unravel it throughout the series. Humans are declining with titans appearing onto earth and they eventually make a wall tall enough to the point where even the tallest titan can't break through.
With the show being a fight for survival, it does an excellent job actually dragging out the battle to its actual length. With anime these days battle scenes are usually only an episode with the exception of it being mostly dialog. Attack on Titan has arcs of each fight against the titans or progress in the story. You're given arcs that focus on a battle to take back a city, an expedition outside the walls, and even a battle taking place inside their safest town.
Throughout the anime you get stories of some characters past and they're definitely something that makes each character enjoyable and much more interesting to watch as the series progresses forward. The characters are mainly focuses on Eren, Mikasa and Armin. They're what drives the story and is the foundation for all the events that happen.
You have the main character Eren, a boy who does before he thinks. This often gets him into a lot of fights and is what drives his friends to do more than they expect they can do. With his mother being eaten in front of him, you get a lot of realism towards his feelings to the situation and an actual reason for his hate rather than the generic hero title.
Second you have Mikasa, a girl who is brave and does anything to protect Eren. They're not related, but they're brother and step-sister, but act just like siblings. They bicker and often get into fights due to different feelings and agreements. She's usually level-headed and very mature, but you'll see when something happens to Eren, she breaks down and becomes very agitated.
Lastly you have Armin, hes the brains of the group and emotional support for both of them. While lacking in physical strength he excels in strategy and decision making. While not being the main focus of the anime, he's probably the character with the most development. At the start hes weak and afraid, but towards the end he becomes mentally strong and definitely a changed person due to the events that occur to him and his friends.
With anime being military themed, you're given characters who are joined in with them due to squads and become their friends. You have characters who disagree with a lot of what they do, and some that are just like them and get along well. The side characters are also important for what happens and really drive the story with their back stories and talent that they bring to the group.
Known for having excellent art, I have nothing to say that can disagree with that. The art through the entire anime stays at top quality and even has detail in every aspect of the show. With all the scenery being changed constantly through the battles, you see buildings that were once standing being ruined and detail in everything. You can see the emotion on all of the characters faces as they witness their comrades being eaten alive.
The scenery seems to be staged in what seems like Europe, you see a lot of forests and old-style buildings. With all the scene changes you can see detail in everything such as trees, buildings and even the clothes that the characters wear. It makes it feel like the Middle Ages or so, with the wool and texture the clothes has.
Thanks to the theme of extiction, you get 2 wonderful openings to hype you for the anime. With the first half being set around emphasizing their survival, you get an opening that has lots of action and despair to give the feeling of struggle the characters are going through. The second half is more towards the counter attack that mankind has and their subtle victories and their path towards winning against the titans. The opening gives that feeling of excitement and shows their steps to becoming closer to surviving and prospering once again. With battles happening constantly and emotion going across the board with characters dying, or even victory, you get excellent background music to support those feelings even more.
Overall this anime is something that lives up to its hype and does a good job having a really serious tone, but also giving off some comedy to balance it out. The story is something that has been done often, but this is one that emphasizes humanities survival. The art is top quality and is the best of the 2013 season to make every battle scene beautiful and movements very clean. The characters were all really well developed and really makes the viewer sad when they die, even though they've only just been introduced a few episodes ago. Anyone who enjoys an action or looking for a great anime to pass time, this is definitely worth checking out.

Children are no easy task to take care of. They require a lot of attention and patience to deal with. As a child, I was reckless and very stubborn. I'm glad my parents dealt with me and loved me for who I am. Though when a family member dies, a person can change in a way to make them more secluded and feeling alone, but when someone reaches out to you with love and care, they can change back.
The story follows a girl named Rin and she was an unknown child belonging to an old man named Souichi and when he dies, she's left alone.
...
No one wanting to take her into their care knowing the problems a child may cause, she's left there not knowing what to do. Angry at their reactions Daikichi, a middle aged man, takes Rin into his care with open arms.
After the whole affair and Rin starts to live with him, the anime follows their daily lives and the bond that the two start to grow for each other. Over time they begin to have a real father-daughter bond and both love each other greatly. Showing a realistic approach to how children act in this anime, it's something everyone can relate to and genuine enjoy to watch a family grow and love each other.
Characters being a key role in any slice of life, this has one of the best character development and realism in each of them. They all have a realistic personality that anyone can relate to such as panicking when their child is ill for the first time, meeting new parents and wishing your kid to have a good day.
You're introduced to Rin, a girl who is quiet and shy towards the rest of the family at the start of the anime. Through the bonding with Daikichi and her new parent, she gets to be introduced to each family member along the way and truly starts to love each and one of them as real significant people in her life. She's a normal girl with trust issues at first and problems that every child goes through, such as wetting the bed. She's mature for her age, but still childish in many points.
Next we have Daikichi, he's a middle aged man who has no experience with children, but takes Rin into his home with open arms and learns as the time goes on. With the role of being a parent, he learns a lot about taking care of children and the habits of being one. He soon starts to focus on Rin and asks for a job position change so he can get off work earlier just to pick her up.
The art is something that really compliments the mood of the anime in a way that gives it a childish feeling, but also giving off a warm feeling through the entire anime. The scenery was always nice to look at and made it really nice with the light color palette that the anime has. All the characters are given really nice detail with their facial structure and nothing is overly emphasized.
The opening is a really cute song that supports the theme of family. The background music always fit each scene regardless if it was supposed to be a comedic scene or a serious scene. Along side the great characters you have wonderful voice actors to give them life and bring more to the table to offer. With Rin they used an actual kid as a voice actor which gave the anime a whole better sound to it rather than the usual adult voice actor.
Overall this is an anime that is very realistic to which anyone can relate to. The concept of family and learning parent hood is something that is often overlooked and rushed with people today. The character development is very true to their personality and lets them shine from start to end to make a heartfelt anime that any true slice of life fan would enjoy. I recommend this to anyone who's looking for something relaxing and adorable to watch!

What does it mean to die? What feelings come with death and what are the qualities to state that you're dead? The anime follows the concept of something similar to the movie Final Destination, of people dying one by one due to an unknown reason, yet has its own twist to it to make it even better. You're put into a situation where someone is not needed. There's an extra person, yet its completely unknown and everyone's life is in danger.
Another is an anime that originally aired in 2012, yet still manages to capture fans with its plot and uneasy feeling. The idea of the
...
anime was something unique and attracted a lot of attention and for good reason. The concept of a class being cursed and how to fix it is unknown. Horror and mystery is a famous combination and one that captures a lot of peoples curiosity. I'm not into horror, but I was attracted to its unique plot, and I can say it was one of the best mysteries that i've seen. There's always that eerie feeling that gives you the chills, yet always manages to keep you on the edge of your seat and brings out a new theory every episode.
The anime follows a boy named Kouichi and he moves into a new town and plans to go to a new school. The school is rumored to be cursed for year 3, class 3 and he gets put into it. His lung collapses before school starts making him the first month of school and miss out on very important information that is essential to the curse and how they plan to avoid it.
The moment the anime opens, the first episode is filled with mystery and eerie feeling introducing a girl named Mei. A girl who is as pale as a ghost, and an eye patch covering one of her eyes. Her presence is missing and everyone doesn't notice her, except for him. This brings room for a lot of mystery and the anime does an excellent job making use of this and making every episode suspenseful as possible and making you really try to think of what's going on and connecting every piece like a puzzle.
With the story being suspenseful as possible, you have top quality sound to back it up. The background music for each scene fits the mood perfectly and gives you that feeling of suspense and making you just wonder what's about to happen next. The anime truly shines with its sound quality and the opening is just perfect to fit the anime. The song gives you the excitement going into the anime and the episode uses that perfectly to make you want more with every passing episode.
For the anime being made in 2012, the art is truly something that was well ahead of its time. Each character was drawn beautifully and made the anime just much more enjoyable to watch. The background was really well detailed with all the settings that the anime was put in such as, forests, the school, the beach, and even with just the suburban area.
With the scenes with oddities being placed everywhere, it gives you a sense of uneasiness. You have dolls with creepy limbs and a store filled with these dolls that just give you the creeps. With the detail in every aspect and the color palette complimenting the entire anime it's perfect for the mood the anime is trying to give off. They use mainly dark colors to emphasize the theme and the situation that they're in. The anime having deaths, and lots of it, the anime does an excellent job with the detail in each death as much as possible. I won't go into detail explaining each death, but they show it in a way that makes it realistic and brings out the emotion that the characters feel while witnessing and after the event happened.
With the anime having a unique story, the characters are all there to back it up to make it even better. You have a wide cast of characters to make every episode as eerie as possible and makes you wonder, who's the extra person?
You have Kouchi, a boy who just transfers to the school and gets caught up in a big mess by missing school for a few weeks due to his injury. He gets interested in what is happening and tries to figure it out through the entire anime bringing more mystery and letting the fans try to piece all the puzzles together.
Second you have Mei, a girl who is introduced in the anime in such a way that it makes you wonder who she is, and what's the reason for her doing what shes doing. Later on in the show, you learn the class is completely oblivious to her being there and she has no presence to them and is always wearing an eye patch.
With the whole class being involved, you get a wide range of characters to develop the story and to make the perfect ending. You have characters who try to take it upon themselves and characters who just try to stay out of it and characters who just want to give up. The emotion in this anime is just spectacular and you can really feel the tension building with every passing death and the feeling of who's next and how is it going to be stopped.
Overall this anime was something well above its time and did an excellent job living up to its hype. With the unique story and characters to back it up, it does an excellent job making each episode as suspenseful as episode. The art is truly top quality and was ahead of it's time of airing and makes the feeling of uneasiness all around better and kept me on the edge of my chair to the very end. The ending for the anime was very unexpected and makes you reflect on all of the events that happened. I recommend anyone who's looking for a good mystery to watch to check this out, it's definitely worth it and will keep you on the edge of your seat till the end!

Studio Ghibli has a long history of film making and is known for its great producers. They've made a name for themselves as one of the best studios in the past few decades with all the movies that have risen to fame quickly and cultivating fans throughout their entire run. Everyone has probably watched a Miyazaki film or heard his name. His movies are always top quality and tend to outshine the other films Ghibli makes.
Neko no Ongashi or The Cat Returns is one that has received both good and bad opinions over the years. I discovered this movie due to watching a marathon of
...
Ghibli films and at first this movie seemed quite bland and boring, but it entertained me with the concept and I unexpectedly enjoyed it.
The story follows Haru, a girl who has an ordinary life and is nothing too special in beauty, nor special qualities. She stumbles upon a cat on the road and runs to save it without a second thought and it turns out to be a cat prince.
The story from there takes off into an adventure of cats trying to please her and repay for what she did to save the prince. Over a time period she gets a proposal to be engaged with the prince and it takes off to the perfect comedy/fantasy themed story.
Shes taken to a place where cats can talk and live out their daily lives, basically like their land. She gets turned into a cat the more she stays there and if she doesn't leave by a specific time shes stuck a cat forever.
Ghibli has a art style that doesn't match today's high quality art style like most animes, yet still makes it perfect and wonderful to watch.
Art for an anime is something i'm really picky about. If the art isn't something I can enjoy then I usually judge the anime harsher. Though the art for this is nothing great, it's perfect for the time it was made and fit the movie greatly. The characters were really nicely drawn and the cats were all different and had a unique trait to each of them. Though the art may not be top quality, some scenes were just beautiful to watch and had some effort really put into them.
The sound for this movie was probably the thing I enjoyed the most. The background music for each scene was actually very calming and made the mood of the movie all around really good. The voice actors were all really good, especially baron, and you can really feel the emotion that they all put into trying to bring the characters to life. Now the ending for this movie is probably on the most calming song i've ever heard. It's really catchy and really did a good job finishing off the movie.
The characters for this movie were actually really pleasing to watch and made the movie even better.
You have Haru, a girl who is just living an ordinary life who gets thrown into a world she is unknown to. This brings out for a lot of adventure and comedy from the reactions that she gives.
Second you have baron, a cat that helps everybody and is very cunning. He makes the movie even better with his heroic deeds and actually starts to attract Haru's attention.
The rest of the cast is built of cats and they made the movie fun to watch. The king is someone can be misjudged, but his intentions aren't bad. The prince doesn't get too much show time, but really sticks out when he's in the scenes and makes it even better. Lastly you get Yuki, a cat that knows Haru when she first enters the cat world and makes a good mystery for how she knows her.
This movie is one that gets overshadowed by the more popular films, but can compete with them. The story of it is unique and was the first time i've seen it tackled. The art was perfect quality for its time and still very enjoyable for the genre and audience that it's aimed at today. The sound is something I greatly enjoyed throughout the movie and the ending song is just perfect to me and I fell in love with it. The characters are pretty unique and what makes this movie what it is. It gives a nice feel to the main being taken away to a new land and the adventures awaits from there. I recommend anyone who loves Ghibli to check this out!

Welcome to the Survival Game Club! A place where we imagine battles with fake guns and take comedy to the extreme!
The anime was something I was unsure to watch, with it's bright palette it didn't seem to suit the military genre and I didn't know what to expect. After watching the entire series I can safely say it's something that I enjoyed from the start to finish. The anime was hidden due to the strong Summer line-up such as SAO 2, Glasslip and Barakamon. It didn't get as much justice as it should have in my opinion.
With the anime following the comedy route, you
...
see a lot of interactions between all the characters to make retorts and scenes as hilarious as possible. The story follows Momoka, a transfer student at a new high school and she gets roped into joining the Survival Game Club. The rest of the series follows Momoka meeting the members and their antics as the year progresses in the club.
They have games where they battle as if it's a real war and use their imagination to show blood and action scenes. With that being said, the battle scenes are something that I find really interesting. They take the normal scene and add special effects, slow motion, and music to make it different from the norm. The stunts and tricks they do amazed me due to the fact that it's something you don't expect from an anime like this one.
A big point that got me interested in this show, was that it wasn't only about survival games. With the show really making it emphasized that the anime would be about the club and their interests for survival, the anime has some episodes that stray away from that and bring out new concepts. You get an episode where Momoka gets a little too fat and has problems dieting, an episode where Maya tries to get over her dislike of natto, and an episode about modeling. The show isn't focused on one main idea and it does a great job showing that.
Characters are a big factor that can be a hit or a miss for almost anyone. The characters in this anime were unique to say. You're given someone who loves cosplay and solely joins the club for that reason, a girl who turns into a masochist, a model, and a senior held back due to misconduct. The cast seems pretty diverse and it adds for some really interesting interactions from them all.
Momoka is a character that really drives this anime from her facade and interesting personality. On the outside shes introduced as a sweet person, but is actually sharp-tongued and easily angered. She loves to get revenge and is the complete opposite of how people view her. She's someone you can't really connect with since her personality is all over the place and it really catches the viewer to see what she'd do next.
The other main characters all have unique personalities to keep some puns and jokes coming along the way, but some are obvious and you'll catch on right away. You get character develop for once in an anime with no story or plot to follow, surprising I know. You see change in the way Momoka views the club at first and towards the end. Her personality changes a little and you can see all the events that she went through did affect her in some way.
Art is something that i'm generally picky about, but this got me right away. With the bright palettes you get a sense that the anime isn't dark and it fit the mood of the anime right away. The scenes where the battles take place and the imagination of the characters make the battles much better and fun to watch. The background for each scene is top quality, the detail in the forests, backdrop and school are really on point. The guns are all really nicely drawn and has details that each one specifically only has and brings a sense of realism to them.
The sound is something that really brings out the anime and supports it greatly. With a wonderful opening to begin each episode, it's catchy and is one of the few that I never skip. Then you get an ending sung by the whole cast that gives a nice closure to each episode. The background music always fit each scene. With the anime having serious scenes and more mellow scenes, you get background music that fit each one and brought out the feelings that the characters are trying to give off. The voice actors in this anime are great. They all gave each character life and made it much more enjoyable to watch. Even the side characters have great voice actors and they all stepped it up to show emotion and comedy.
All in all I feel this is one that was over shadowed by the hype and praise that some anime got. I recommend anyone who just wants to watch a comedy and laugh till their sides hurt to check this out. It has great characters, wonderful art and a nice soundtrack to go along with it. It's not perfect, but it does a great job working with what it has.

The concept of flags seems interesting right? Death flags, friendship flags, even a romance flag to top it all off. The low score this anime has is something I strongly disagree with. I think people are reading the synopsis and jumping the gun when they read about the concept. This is NOT an Action/Adventure whatsoever. This is a Comedy/Harem anime!
With that in mind this anime has a concept that is unique and did a good job showing it for the genre that this anime is under. It made some really good comedy and actually has some serious parts in it.
This anime has sprung a lot
...
of good points, but still has some bad qualities that may annoy people. The story is a concept that is new and did a great job showing and did a good job with the building of plot and story line to make a wonderful comedy. The art is something that I loved about the show and enjoyed greatly. The characters along with the background are all bright colors that fit the comedy mood of the show greatly. The characters are the best part of this anime and wouldn't be nearly as good without them. The openings and endings are super catchy and always made me want to listen more to it and just plain out enjoyed them. I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking for a slice-of-life/harem to watch, not just looking for a cool show with the concept of flags.
Where do I begin with this?
You get a boy named Souta, and he has the ability to see flags over people's head to see their true intention. It's a concept that hasn't been touched from what i've seen and it was perfectly fine for the genre that this anime is under. Along the way he gains friends and tries to find out the truth about why he has the flags and how to get rid of them.
The back story for Souta is actually very interesting and made the series even better knowing it isn't just all upbeat and happy-go-lucky. The characters also have some sort of connection with him rather than all of them just being some random strangers he meets along the way (though some of them are).
The underlying plot that this anime has is a good lead that makes way for the plot that is actually stirring and building through out the entire anime. The ending was something I honestly didn't expect to happen and really made me think of how it did a wonderful job building up to it.
The art for this anime is possibly one of the best i've seen for the spring season to come this year. The art is very colorful and support the mood for the anime gives of beautifully. The art is super clean and even the background and details in the surroundings that the characters go through are all neatly drawn.
The characters are all drawn beautifully and have qualities that are unique to themselves. Each character didn't have a generic hairstyle that you see are common in all anime and are unique and have a wonderful color scheme to support each one.
The sound for this anime was very upbeat and helped support the aura that the anime gives off. The opening was upbeat and pretty catchy and made me want to listen to it every time an episode was released. The background music was wonderful and fit the mood of the situations they got themselves into perfectly which was a nice touch since the anime did have a serious side to it.
The voice actors were all wonderfully chosen and portrayed each character well. They all fit the emotion and really brought out the life of each character and made the anime a lot more enjoyable.
The characters can be a hit or miss depending on the person. I personally enjoyed them all and made the anime even better to watch. The genre of the anime is harem so there will many types of personalities clashing and making the anime seem a little less appealing.
The anime starts off with Souta and introducing Nanami and the pace picks up from there. A bunch of new characters are thrown in and at first it may seem bland and dull, but as the series progress you learn a bit more about everyone and make them all seem unique rather than just added to become a harem.
You get a big diverse group of girls. You get a childhood friend that is just reunited with him, a robot girl, a rich girl, and a boy who is VERY feminine. To top all of that you get a princess, 13th in line to be exact. All of that may seem like a horrible combination, but the interactions they all have with each other makes the anime a really good comedy and brings out the feeling the anime is trying to give off perfectly.
If there's things I had to complain about the characters it would be towards the ending. I'm not going to spoil anything, but it was honestly confusing until you really think about the events that happened and connect the pieces like a puzzle. While i'm at it, the ending was full of cliche moments that I literally just laughed at them the entire time, it was really predictable about what each character would say and the events that happen.
I really enjoyed this and was really hesitant to start this up since it was getting such horrible feedback, but i'm glad I gave it a try. The characters were some of the funniest i've seen and made the series a lot more enjoyable as a whole. Not one aspect of this failed for the genre this is under, keep in mind this is NOT an action/adventure. If you're looking for something to watch with a unique concept this is definitely it!

If you're looking for an anime with romance and relationships, this isn't what you're looking for. If you're looking for an anime with endless hilarity and gags that runs off love and romance, this is what you're looking for. This anime thrives off misjudgments and the characters.
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is an anime thats been the laughing central of this summer. With the theme of manga-artists becoming more popular lately such as, Manga-ka to assistant-san or mangirl ,it's becoming much more attractive and interesting to watch. This is a gem that's becoming popular due to its laughable characters and misinterpretations that occur all the time.
The
...
story follows Sakura, a girl who tries to tell her crush that she likes him, but gets misinterpreted and ends up becoming his assistant. She often tries to get closer to him, but always gets misjudged and makes for some hilarious comedy. The story follows their life at school along with some other cast members to make the show enjoyable and a lot more entertaining to watch as a whole. With the running gag of it being comedy, some things may seem predictable, but it still stays original and has comedy in every episoded.
The characters are all really unique in their own way and is the strongest part of the show. With all the different characters you get hilarious situations that really makes the show stand out from the rest that's airing and one that takes comedy to the next level with their personalities.
You have Sakura, a girl who tries often to get close to her crush, but is always misinterpreted. She's a great person who makes the show better with her retorts and delusions that she thinks is going to happen, but the exact opposite happens. Over time she develops a bond with Nozaki and really makes for some friendship and gave a light feeling to make you smile at every scene.
Second you have Nozaki, a manga artist and one that people often misjudge. Since he stays up to draw and produce manga, he looks like he gets into fights, but really is only just aches and pains from the constant drawing and late nights. He's oblivious to Sakura's feelings and really makes up for some hilarious reactions that he gives to what he thinks she's doing.
The art style is nothing new to the 2014 style, yet brings out details that makes it better than some of the anime airing. With all the details in the characters clothes, to the beautiful scenery that they go through in their situations, it brings out a sense of comedy to support the bickering and the interactions between all the characters. With the art being one of the strong points, you have beautiful details in every aspect that they bring to the table. The characters all have unique features and traits that belong to them and wonderful backdrops such as the school, or just at their house.
The opening is nothing to be praised for, but is super catchy. The background music for this anime is one that supports the mood that the anime gives off perfectly. The opening and ending gives off the perfect feeling to start every episode and is one that I never skip. The voice actors are all really well and give the characters life to make the anime as enjoyable as possible. The voice actor for Sakura is relatively new to voice acting, but does a wonderful job portraying her character and is one of the best in the show.
Overall this anime is one of the best of Summer 2014 line up and is definitely worth watching. With it's wonderful characters and hilarious situations they get themselves into, this is one that brings out the comedy in the simplest things. You have the standard 2014 art style, yet it makes it better by adding details to make every quality shine and make it so everything stands out to the fullest. The OST is wonderful and support each scene perfectly and the opening is so catchy that you just can't help but enjoy listening to. I recommend anyone who didn't check this out yet to start watching it.
