Why do I love Given(the series)?
It's a show focused on pain, losing a loved one, music, trying to find yourself while giving your best. With... some romance(which I love, less is better). It focused on getting a good story across, not going for a fifty shades of gray knock off(yaoi shows).
So, the movie, it sucks. From complicated relationships to rape scenes. I don't mind the relationships, it's not that bad, everybody goes through shit, but the other scene? really? Who in their right or not right mind would go for something like that? Why? It's such a cliche yaoi anime thing. I don't wanna ... be over here rating something like that on a tv show, if that really happened, wtf? It's not okay. Consent is everything. After it was done and over Haru touched on "giving consent" so "it wasn't rape", which I kind of get, if he really tried to maybe he could've stopped it, BUT it didn't seem as such, he looked hopeless...and pathetic. Akihiko is really aggressive through the show(it's not cute). He also made a comment about the way Haru looks(with longer hair), how could he go back to his ex gf looking like that............normal.........with longer hair....which was braided............comfy(in his own home) Like....tf?
Clothing and style have nothing to do with gender. This is so stupid. I'm seeing this in shows preaching queer relationships while still stereotyping gender roles. As a nonbinary person I felt bad, for having to witness such a thing. What hurt me more was Haru getting effected by this and cutting his hair. "To resemble a Man". And he still liked Aihiko....
Not good people, write better characters with more positive and accepting traits.
The world revolves around Everybody, none should feel excluded or has to "change". As long as it doesn't involve or harm anyone, it's good.

This whole movie was "yes, no or maybe?"

The art and animation went really well hand in hand, especially the art style, I really loved.

The characters were okay, they didn't have much depth, but they were certainly interesting.

And...the sex scene. First off, sex isn't a go to for connection, I don't understand the obsession. Second, consent, without consent it's literally rape. It's not right for someone to stand there and say they "understand you" when you're stating the opposite.
It was not a good scene, made me uncomfortable, to force oneself onto someone else. It ruined the movie for me, rated it down a ... notch.
Maybe the author had something different in mind, but they didn't execute it well.
My advice for them is to have different points of view, or ask other people for opinions.
