Do you like manipulative, gaslighting, abusive and toxic female main characters that constantly demean the male main character and blackmail him with fake rape accusation threats in order to basically become their slave, all while they shows few to no signs of becoming nicer? Then I guess this is just the thing for you.
For everyone else, ignore this manga. The only good part is the art.
"Oh, but she actually likes him". Oh, okay, didn't know that liking someone made it okay to be a bullying, manipulative, blackmailing bitch and rarely ever showing any signs of genuine love to the male MC. I've seen people compare
...
her to Senjougahara, but Senjougahara is not nearly this awful (and actually shows growth).
I read the first volume and read the latest chapter after reading it, and she was still just as awful.
I regret buying the first volume without having read a few chapters online first.

Full disclosure: I've played FGO (still do), loved Camelot in the game, and even I felt lost as to what was going on.
Setting aside the adaptation part (as much as I can anyway): the pacing is awful. You're dropped straight into the story without any introduction or anything. It's incredibly fast going from one story-beat to the next without really developing anything. You barely get to take in the severity of what's happening. You hardly get a chance to get to know characters at all. "Here's this character, you'll barely see anything of them until an important moment you're supposed to care about, but because
...
we didn't build their character, you probably won't care about it".
Animation is very subpar (sometimes bad even) for what I expect from a movie and imo below the FGO Babylonia anime.
Now pulling in the adaption part: fuck me, they skipped a lot. Big moments cut short and character moments cut out. This was an overblown highlight reel, where they even highlighted the less important parts.
Sometimes I lost track, despite having played Camelot.
The game's music is heavily underutilised, often trying to be a Yuki Kajiura rip-off while not realising there's a goldmine of music ready to be adapted into actual recorded orchestral form from the game itself. They did use it sometimes (and those were pretty good), but not that much. The music doesn't feel that coherent as a result.
It's not that the music in the movie was bad, just not well done either.
The only thing it had going for it was that I knew the source material.
Just an all-round disappointment.
The Babylonia TV anime was better in almost every regard, even taking the end and earrape into account.
I guess this FGO adaptation didn't have earrape, so I guess that's nice. Not sure it's worth the trade-off.

At first, this show seems to be your generic overpowered MC fantasy story. And tbh, it's not far from that.
The MC is overpowered, it's a fairly typical fantasy setting and the story doesn't explore any deep topics. But none of those things are inherently a bad thing. In this anime's case, it's just fun.
It seems that, nowadays, an MC being OP is automatcially bad, when it's really not if done well.
It's not a deep show: it doesn't have complex characters and doesn't have a particularly unique plot, but it knows it this very well (so does the MC) and has fun with it. That's where
...
this show's value lies. Pure entertainment value.
So if you want a deep story that explores its characters deeply, this isn't the show for you. If you want a show that's just fun and pretty much brainless (in a good way), this absolutely is for you.

I rarely feel the need to write reviews, but this one's an exception.
I feel like 7 episodes is more than enough to decide whether you like something or not.
This review contains some spoilers I suppose.
So, the first 2 or 3 episodes I quite enjoyed. They weren't amazing, but still enjoyable.
However, the longer I watched, the more the problems became apparent.
First things first, there are sooo many characters in such a short amount of time and very few of them you can get properly acquainted with to remember even their names. To be honest, I don't even remember the main characters' names aside from
...
Bitter Sweet and Veronica (but they aren't really main characters), even though I just watched the 7th episode.
Most of characters don't do that much either. They're also mostly all pretty bland and mostly serve to just continue the plot.
Second, I have no clue what they're trying to do with the story. Finding pages of a black tome that had like a one-minute vague explanation (without really knowing its importance either) way too many underlining plotthreads. That could be fine, if the writers knew what they were doing. It feels like they're making it up as they go along. Instead, they never really resolve any of them, and keep adding more and more threads to it, to the point where it's difficult to keep up with what exactly is happening or why it's happening.
Third, some of the voice casting is really mis-matched. For example, the Jesus looking guy's VA doesn't fit in the slightest and I felt the same for some other characters.
Fourth, maybe they'll explore it later, but I find it odd how no one finds it strange how the fairy-people's existence has essentially been made illegal. Like, the main character just accepts that she either goes to jail, or join Dorothea, just because she exists. As I said, this could be explored later, but there's been no hint at that at all yet, so who knows. It would be a nice thing to explore, but it would've been good to have some of that in the beginning. It would've made for an interesting dynamic.
Fifth, the amount of times they're jumping back and forth between flashbacks and present day, makes the timeline very confusing, even with the time cards they put before the scene. They use their own calendar, so we don't really have anything concrete to hold on to. Personally, I couldn't for the life of me remember, what year it was in what scene. Most of the time I could figure out quite easily whether or not it was a flashback, but the time cards didn't help at all. Relatively minor issue, but it bothered me. Same thing with the place cards.
My final issue, which is my main issue somehow, is completely outside of the studio's control: it's the subs by Funimation. I've been finding most of their subs quite awful this season, but this one takes the cake. I can't exactly speak for the translation (though at some points, even I notice it's really off), but so little of the dialogue reads well or fits with the tone of voice. This due mainly two reasons: stiff text and god awful on-screen placement.
Stiff text speaks for itself, it just doesn't feel natural in the slightest for people speaking.
The on-screen placement however, is my main issue. Normally when there's two things going on at once, in this case someone speaking and text on screen, you spread them out so it's readable. Funimation said, fuck no, we're not doing that, we place all subs at the top of the screen, with the text (which most often is just an introduction of the character's name and occupation) AT STACKED DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE DIALOGUE, SO YOU READ THAT FIRST AND THEN THE DIALOGUE. When that happens, you miss what is being said, because you're trying to read his introductory text, but since it's so cluttered, you struggle with it. Usually, what would be good to do in these situation is have one thing at the top of the screen, and the other thing at the bottom of the screen. My only guess for not doing that is to not cover up the japanese text (in the bottom CORNER mind you), but I think it's safe to assume, that most of us sub reading weebs, don't know Kanji anyway, so why bother. It's stupid, and for some reason, 'triggered' me by far the most about this show.
At other points, they randomly place the subs at the top, for no apparent reason (that I could find anyway).
To me that's just really offputting and bothered me the most about everything.
Or maybe, the dialogue is just that awful. I feel like it's not though, considering Funimation's other subs this season.
Animation and art is largely fine. There were some weird angles here and there, but animation is largely smooth. The fights are average at best. Sometimes I'm not entirely sure what style they're trying to got for: steampunk, WW1, or fantasy.
The CG doesn't bother me that much, I've seen much worse. It doesn't stick out as much to me.
Overal, I probably would've watched it for a bit longer if it wasn't for the awful subs, but probably still have dropped in the end, because of the other things mentioned. It's sad, because P.A. Works generally delivers good work.
Maaaybe I'll pick it up again if people are suddenly saying that it's really good all of a sudden, but that would be at the end of the season.

Fate/Cooking is best Fate. It is all you need in life. It's wholesome, and will make you want to cook this stuff for yourself and it's very wholesome.
This should've been enough to convince you, but MAL wants more. Expect a very undeep analasys.
Characters are the usual Fate characters, just in a not-at-all depressing and not-at-all dire situation. It's very wholesome.
Medea is adorable here.
I suppose there's no story. It's just Emiya cooking for a bunch of people and it makes for some great character moments. It's very wholesome.
Animation is fitting for the SoL style it's going for. It's nothing fancy, but very pleasing to the eyes.
...
It's very wholesome.
Sound is what you'd expect from a SoL. The soundtrack does the job. The OP is the best Fate OP. It's very wholesome.
I would never have expected this kind of wholesomeness from this franchise when I first watched Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night. I loved every minute of it. It's very wholesome.
Did I mention it's wholesome?

I''ve never written a review before, but for some reason I felt inclined to write one for this one, so bear with me.
Story: 6/10
Musaigen had a lot of potential. Potential that only really showed in 4 episodes (three of which were the last ones). It didn't really have an overarching storyline, aside from some development and findings needed for the last 2 episodes. Instead, it was for the most part and episodic show, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It could work. The problem was, there was no way I could take those episodes seriously, with exception of those 4 episodes I mentioned. I
...
felt like they wanted me, the viewer, to, but failed to do so. If the show was as good as it was in the last 3 episodes, it would've been much much better.
Art and animatio: 9/10
Of course, since this was a KyoAni production, the expections for it to be at least good looking were definitely high, and those expectations were definitely met. The art and animation was gorgeous even in moments it they didn't need to be.
Sound: 6/10
I don't really have anything to say about the soundtrack. It didn't realy stand out to me, but it didn't bother me either, so I suppose that was good. Though one thing that did bother me was the opening song. Not because it was necessarily bad, but because of the intro. The speeding up wasn't gradual and that really bothered me for some reason.
Characters: 7/10
The characters might've been a bit cliched and didn't have all that much development (with exceptions here and there), but I happened to like them and started caring for most of them anyway. Shoot me.
Enjoyment: 8/10
Despite the mediocre story, I enjoyed this show very much, which, for me, is all I care about really. If I enjoy an anime despite all its flaws, it's a good show in my book. It was a show that I could just sit back and relax to while basking in the glorious art and animation.
Overall, I give the show a 7,5/10 (not an 8, but you know, MAL doesn't allow decimals), which I suppose is quite high, but considering enjoyment is what I find most important, that was to be expected. I do feel like people are giving it more shit than it deserves. Maybe people might've had incredibly high expectations of the show because it was made by KyoAni? Which I don't think is really fair. Yeah, KyoAni has so many amazing shows that this anime can't even wish to touch in its current state, but it's not that bad (I think).
Would I recommend this anime? It depends on what person I'm talking to and what kind of anime they want. If they want a well thought-out anime with very intricate plot details then... no, I wouldn't. If they want a show they could watch just to relax to, then yes, absolutely. It's an easy watch, especially with the amazing animation.
