If you have the chance to watch the extended 2-hour 48-minute version, please do so. It completely transforms the movie, adding depth to the protagonist and highlighting a key character whose presence is crucial to the story. Many moments that felt incomplete in the shorter version now have proper context, making the emotional weight of the film much stronger.
I watched both versions, and after experiencing the extended cut, my rating went from an 8 to a 10. The additional scenes provide a richer understanding of the relationships, struggles, and emotions that define Suzu’s journey. It’s not just about war; it’s about life, loss, and resilience.
