Eden no Ori

Both contain that sense of mystery. Protagonists find themselves on a strange outcast island, plagued with strange mutated creatures that have no issue with killing humans. Throughout each we learn the true nature of these islands as well as what our protagonists struggle to survive. Add in a bit of blood, limbs and the insane and you have a story. Considerably different in length Eden no Ori is for those who prefer longer stories involving some ecchi whilst La Mosca is more to the point and doesn't bother with the fanservice.

Gang King

Both of these manga revolve around a young delinquent and as the story progresses, both end up gaining more and more gang members slowly, as of course, they prove their worth against a 'rival' of some sorts because of their reputation. What sets them apart is that Beelzebub is a shounen about young Oda babysitting the demon kings son, so is rather supernatural based, where as Gang King is a seinen about a wannabe tattoo artist but it shares the same rather crude humour.

Hotarubi no Mori e

Whilst one is more romance based, both are visually stunning movies that centre around the idea of a female growing up and reflecting on the goodbyes they ultimately face. Both have a childlike innocence yet may leave a bitter-sweet taste in some viewers mouths. Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo is the slightly more action based one, where as Hotarubi no Mori e is about a couple who cannot touch.

Both male protagonists end up in a new world without exactly knowing how. Although nothing has stated, it does have a certain MMORPG feel to the setting. Both start with the protagonist(s) pretty much bottom rung and having to work their way up.
