I see what the author was trying to do here regarding making this anime different from the other romance series because that should and did intrigue most of the people who tried this out, including me. Having a deaf fl while also having this be a college romance rather than set in high school is kind of refreshing, even though sometimes I still enjoy that genericism, and yet somehow this anime still managed to be very generic? The set up was there but sadly it did not evolve well enough to be unique or special. The issue is that I expected more, my expectations decreasing
...
every episode as the main character is portrayed as rather childish and bland, her personality that of being 'cute' and 'deaf-' unfortunately there is little to no character development or development at all in the story. She IS cute; I am not that much of a hater, or a hater at all in fact, but sometimes it gets a bit annoying. Her interactions with the ml are hardly there and I know that it is partly because he is still learning sign language for her so naturally there is that barrier, however, when they do 'talk' the conversations are that of equivalent to something like ''Nice weather we're having''
*insert silence with panning frames of a smile with Yuki's inner dialogue*
She talks more to herself about Itsuomi (the ml) than Itsuomi himself.
There is another big issue in this anime and I apologise, but despite the cute art style and lovely colours it just cannot be ignored; Why did the two fall in love?
I literally still do not know and the anime is completed. I looked it up but did not really get an answer either so I guess nobody knows. The ml gave some nonsensical explanation for why he loved her when he asked her out which I honestly do not remember. In my opinion, it felt a bit wrong. It did not feel genuine-his 'love' for her appeared like it could have easily been given to another deaf girl if he met her first instead. It felt like a relationship between a historian and an interesting source or, a scientist and a new experiment.
There are some cute scenes and seeing sign language animated was really majestic.
The side characters are annoying and so is the way the ml talks/behaves (he is also a bit bland) and also, the side characters reasoning for falling in love with other side characters were also messed up but I think you should give it a try, after all, maybe you'll enjoy it a bit more than me.
It is okay for passing time but you have to be sort of ''out of it'' when watching so that you do not find yourself constantly questioning anything.
I would have loved more highlights on her struggles of being deaf than there was and I think if they devled deeper into why her family did not learn sign for her, which was really unusual considering she was deaf since birth, it could have been really heartfelt and emotional.

Migi and Dali is strange in a good way and unpredictable.
It's odd but this was actually not a bad thing because it made it charming and hilarious, and yet, the story still managed to include heartfelt and dramatic moments within it that did not feel out of place.
The characters are quirky instead of written with recycled tropes thus why it is the kind of series many started off as a joke because of how eccentric the characters are but, unexpectedly they come to enjoy because it is weirdly entertaining. Now I will say, some scenes are kind of disturbing but not because it
...
is scary or anything similar to that description but simply just because you were not expecting it. It is not in relation to gore or even sexual but if I were to explain it, it's more like in a ''what the hell is going on?'' type of way, although at the same time, that itself can be interpreted as part of Migi and Dali's charm. OST's are fitting, and the op is catchy too so there is no complaints there.
If i had to give it a rating, It just about scrapes an 8 for it uniqueness because it's so much more intriguing to watch something that you haven't seen before in other works.
If you are looking for something different that would undoubtedly keep you awake, I definitely would recommend you watch try it out.

When a series that was greatly anticipated to be amazing turns out to be the opposite, there are usually two types of people: the ones who are being honest with themselves and acknowledge that the story failed, and there are the ones who delude themselves into still thinking it was a success.
Getting a shoujo romance adapted in this time is so uncommon despite their popularity and cute dynamics so I sort of understand why people would pretend “My Happy Marriage” is good after being deprived of ‘romance’ anime that are not filled with harems, fanservice and a generic male mc.
Characters and story-
Mio is essentially a
...
Cinderella-type character as she starts off living amongst her evil stepmother, half sister and her bio father who does not care about her maltreatment. Living as a servant for the three, she sees no value in herself and then suddenly one day, it's decided she is to be married off to a cruel, callous man: 'Kiyoka Kudo-'a way of her family basically ridding and punishing her for existing.
When she meets her fiance, he seems cold at first but the reality is that he’s actually kind and I guess her slowly coming to love Kudo and him showing her it is okay to trust others and be treated with basic human respect was an attempt at giving her some character development.
Their interactions mostly consist of Mio apologising or looking unsure of herself before Kudo reassures her-there is not really anything more to the relationship. Mio has no personality with or without Kudo’s existence. While she has no inner monologue despite being the mc (and if she does it was probably like twice max), we as audience cannot tell what she is thinking because she has about two facial expressions: she is a helpless and empty character.
I feel like a mistake a lot of writers make when creating a character is thinking that giving them a whole lot of trauma or a sorry backstory will make up for their lack of a personality and character building when it doesn’t; you actually need to give them traits otherwise they are just not interesting. A good, traumatised character would have their real personality starting to evolve as time goes on when in a healthier environment but Mio is the same either way which shows her sad backstory to be sort of insignificant or, just a nonsensical move to try get Kudo feel sorry and to fall in love with her.
Kudo is nothing particularly special but I suppose he is a bit more interesting than Mio which is only because he seemed to have actually had a bit of character before she came into his life. He is not as boring, background-wise, as he is a commander and here and there, he uses his 'talents 'but compared to other shoujo male love interests, he does not particularly stand out. The chemistry between him and Mio is almost forced and feels unnatural despite the idea behind the two probably being an ‘opposites attract’ sort of thing in which he will be the one to build her up. Because the two are essentially a blank slate, the interactions are not anything to swoon over especially since it's based on very generic exhanges.
In general, all the characters feel incomplete or like very important parts of them are missing and in an effort to conceal this up, the author makes it a habit to have other characters act very extreme to distract the audience from this.
Of course, there are people who enjoyed this, although I do feel like they simply feel indebted to due to the ‘extinction’ of animated shoujo romance. Obviously with the cliche,’ and or foreshadowing, that perhaps the weak character is actually very strong will make some watchers feel intrigued, however, this anime is an example of how not to do it unlike a series like ‘Akatsuki No Yona’ which follows a similar premise in relation to the female mc becoming stronger through her experiences and meeting new characters.
Music-
Probably the most redeeming factor although it could be better. I like the instruments though.
Character designs-
They are okay but sometimes look a bit uncanny.
Animation-
It is decent-not really anything to complain about.
Score-
I suppose I’ll give it a 5/10
