It's like watching Gurren Lagann but horny. Great animation and soundtrack for the most part, actually lovable characters. I liked the tight pacing expecting 3-4 mini arcs in season 1, but the rather abrupt (by that I mean mid arc, without any conclusion) ending at the end felt genuinely jarring, like a bullet train going from 120mph to 0 in a second. The inertia of the breakneck pacing to this sudden end made me think that this should have been either longer by atleast one episode, or should have been split into cours for atleast some continuity.
As it is I can say that the
...
show has a heart, with genuine moments between absolute batshit crazy shenanigans, and the heart is what makes it stand out to me than any of the hijinks. I can somewhat liken it to a more focused Gintama in that sense, with a rambunctious main cast slowly coming to accept each other and help others even if they were butting heads previously.
I am left wanting for more of the show, which is generally a good sign, and hence I will give it a 7, I cannot give it more due to how it ended abruptly.

Jujutsu Kaisen is the ultimate bait-n-switch of all time. From a manga that could depict raw humanness in the dark and curse filled world, where even the villains had some humanity, considering they were born from the twisted emotions of humans. It quickly shifted its focus from capturing that humanity in the most vile, into a competition of who has a bigger domain or who can recover their cursed energy domain expansion with a black flash and how many times they can do it and surprise the reader. T
From actually paying attention to characters, we slowly get flooded with rules and laws and technicalities that
...
bombard the page, almost like Gege wrote a rules and laws codex with accompanying illustrations. It not only tanked the pacing, it also removed the awe-factor from the fights. Suddenly characters have unexplained powers. Suddenly "The final boss did not use 100% of their power", and suddenly you realize how long you've read this to make you feel nothing.
By the end JJK made me feel nothing. That's worse than if it could have made me hate it.
Read it for what could have been.

Tower of God is a series with an incredible world and magic system, with a manhwa that has had tonnes of regular readers and an incredible season 1 that went above and beyond to keep the Manhwa aesthetic. The sfx, soundtrack, art design and animation were all amazing, and fit the tone of the story like nothing else.
But season 2 has disappointed me at every turn; sure the arc that it covers is one of the weaker arcs in the source material, but that should not translate to extremely poor direction, static animation, moving to a generic isekai anime-esque art-style from the once-faithful manhwa
...
style art of season 1. The only redeeming quality this season has, that I can claim with any certainty is the OST.
Every single fight scene so far has ranged from below average to abhorrent to look at. I cannot understand how they could confidently release such an unfinished looking scene on air. It truly breaks my heart to see this being treated like any run of the mill power fantasy nonsense when there is truly something in here.
But hey, the manhwa is completely free on webtoons official website, so check that out instead.

I'm at the point where I can give a review for the show without having fully completed it, which I promise to update after finishing the show. This is a show generally under the radar, and slept-upon. I read the summary, did not understand what was going on, watched the first 3 episodes, had no idea how many moving parts were present in the show, or who the protagonists were.
I thought this was shoujo bait, with some politics sprinkled for flavour, but boy was I really wrong. This is a show primarily about politics, scheming right in front while simultaneously planning something behind each others'
...
backs. I wasn't able to fully predict who was the potential culprit, the show misdirects so subtly that you do not notice the misdirection.
The plot can be summarized like this:
The lead is the "chosen one" who also signified a certain bad omen, in that he is born right before times of calamity. His brother, mother and father want him to not succeed him on the throne, but he doesn't want to give up without a fight either. To become a chosen one, he has to marry one of the 4 girls staying at the palace, each with their own personalities and troubles. Their interaction, the juicy plotting, the sparks flying between every other character makes this an amazing watch.
Not knowing who could be an ally, and who is a traitor makes for a surprisingly fun political thriller.

What else to say other than it being a pretty solid show? Coming off the manga, I came with certain expectations, but the anime can't necessarily replicate the magic that Fujimoto works on paper. His panelling and art style makes use of the manga pages like few other series can. The anime had high expectations, and for the most part, it delivered. Be it in terms of animation quality and the art design incorporated into the show. I was genuinely impressed with how seamlessly the CGI blended into the 2D art, with very few janky moments, and it actually enhanced the depth and the perception
...
of certain shots.
This is probably the first anime other than the Monogatari series that had completely unique ending songs for each episode, and the songs were mostly really well produced, and 3-4 of the ending cinematics were really stellar, even as good as the opening.
The voice actors did an incredible job in the show, especially Makima and Denji. Giving Makima a girlish innocent voice made it stand out a bit, adding to the mystery that looms behind her, almost making me subconsciously underestimate her despite knowing all that happens in the manga. Denji's VA, on the other hand, made him way less insufferable than how I thought it would turn out, and in some scenes, even made me laugh due to his performance.
My two qualms with the show are the length of this season and the forgettable soundtrack. Compared to its contemporaries, Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen, both of which had 25+ episodes in their first season, 12 episodes of CSM felt a little too short for viewers to be completely gripped by the plot twists and the story. The first 3/4ths of the season was almost generic shounen formula, and only around episode 8 did its true nature slowly manage to peek through the veil that it presents. I would assume that since the show was fully funded by MAPPA themselves, not under a separate production committee, they might not have had the resources to push through the intense work that was required to produce 24 or 25 episodes of this quality. Moving to an easier project like Vinland Saga's S2 would be an ideal breather for many of the staff involved.
The soundtrack was not bad, it was just not memorable. I only distinctly remember that ending #4's starting metal guitar was used during the last bits of episodes 7 and 8; otherwise, it just perfectly blends into the show. This is not bad per se; just a nitpick on my end.
TL;DR - I think this is a very well produced show with a lot of passion from the animators, and I believe most people would find it interesting

I went in blind, and never looked back. Ousama Ranking is such a powerful and wonderfully raw show with emotions that make you want to root for the main cast of characters. There is no definition of morality in this story, the good might be evil and the evil might be good. This is a story that starts out in a fairy tale picture book world, hiding a veil of deception, magic, treachery and struggle for our vulnerable and naive Bojji.
Bojji is the best boi of this season with how positive he is in the face of bullying and adversity and he immediately struck a
...
chord in me. I will kill the whole town if they make Bojji cry. Bojji is precious.
That aside, Bojji is somewhat unsuitable for the throne as he is right now, unsavoury as it is, and he must become worthy of the throne by growing in strength and valour.
The side cast as of now have been deceptively complex, and no one is as they seem. This adds a lot of character and intent behind their actions and they showcase their twisted loyalty to the one they swore it towards. Kage is best boi #2 if I knew how he might have looked, but sure takes the #2 spot.
The opening of this anime, BOY by King GNU showcases the vulnerable and exquisite emotions showcased in this anime, having a hopeful tone, while singing with melancholy, one of the best OPs I've listened to in a while. And Yama's voice is a perfect fit for the ED yet again portraying the inner demons of Bojji through her hazy vocals and a mellow tune.
All in all, I'd say WIT's adaptation of the webmanga has been stellar, with narratives rearranged to facilitate a more powerful impact in the upcoming episodes and "big reveals".
I need not comment about the animation, since it's WIT doing their magic, but it is indeed breathtaking to see the fluid action happen all of a sudden.
I rate this series a solid 9 as of now, definitely will update it to a 10 if it progressively gets better:

Many others have written about the extremely intricate relatable tale of becoming someone you've always wanted to be.
I want to write about the extremely gorgeous art that is this manga. The panelling is straight-up out of the world with spiraling bridges extending out of the page to fairy tale-esque designs adorning whole pages for increased immersion, the art is in this manga is probably one of the absolute best I've seen in this genre.
Some manga like Berserk, Vagabond and such have incredible detail and double spreads which makes people gasp for breath. But Atelier on the other hand has highly creative yet detailed
...
panels which to me changed how I look at panelling. Some panels interconnect like no other, and some are stark contrasts of one another!
It made me giggle like a toddler discovering a pack of crayons and opening up a world of possibilities.
Witch hat Atelier is a must-read for any art enthusiast who leans towards a more "Alice in Wonderland" style design perfected.
(Did I mention the story is damn interesting?)

Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S is a love letter by KyoAni to all of animation, taking a simple slice of like anime and giving it a AAA treatment. Kyoto Animation has proudly announced that it's back in action and has successfully pulled ahead of literally every single studio and their anime this year.
The quality of art and the animation is so damn mind-blowing that I could say many of the scenes here beat out actual shounen battles from the past couple of years. The humour and wholesomeness of Dragon Maid is still up high, but this time, it explores its side characters much more.
...
We get a deeper look into Elma and Tohru's relationship and how all of them came to butt heads with each other. No other studio could have done justice to this anime.
But most of my praise is towards KyoAni as such, due their bombastic comeback.
Great job kyoani, hope we get more quality content.

Looking at the reviews from back in 2013-15, I thought it's high time this anime got more rep.
This was the KonoSuba that came ages before KonoSuba.
It's like "what if Maou-sama got isekai'd to our world" and we get what we expect: A very entertaining joke. KonoSuba and this anime share many things similar in terms of their comedy, but in retrospect, Hataraku Maou-sama gave us meta-humour on a genre that didn't exist when it aired.
What I mean is that this anime has aged very well and is an extremely fun watch when you wanna catch a break during your weekend. Just grab some
...
popcorn and enjoy the delectable ride.
Story - 8
The story here is better than many other seasonal isekai airing in recent times.
Art - 8
The art style is classic, but the character designs are unique and rememberable
Sound - 8
Decent sound, but not rememberable or unique. Not bad enough to give a 7 tho
Character - 9
The characters and their interactions are really fun to watch, and there's visible character development. A demon lord realizing that he has to work at McRonald's and his sidekick playing the role of a housewife. What more do you want?
Enjoyment - 8
A solid short weekend show, that ticks all boxes for humour, relatability, and some light action.
Overall 9 - This is a fun anime to switch your mind off and haffun with.

The buta yaro series has not failed to put out a movie that fits its theme and sticks out enough to be unique. The 90-minute movie felt neither fast, not too slow, at just the right pace to understand Makinohara Shoko and Sakurajima Mai. The movie features all the girls, but these two are in focus throughout its duration. The animation quality is a bit on the lower end, with a lot of weird walking animation, and in certain mood-heavy silent scenes, one can observe the glitch when Sakuta turns and walks. The plot was as good as always, with fake quantum mechanics here and
...
there, and topics like “dreams” and “present”. We got to learn more about Sakurajima and Makinohara. The way Mai-san’s character is explored is simply phenomenal, I would give a 10-pointer rating just for the sake of Mai-san if I could. The line, “You really don’t understand how much I love you, Sakuta.” Literally had me bawling in the corner of the room. The main issue that I find with this movie is that it has too many tear-jerker scenes, some important and crucial ones, while others are there just to put the other girls to use. Some of the aspects of the movie are cliché, but overall the movie fits the buta yaro series. If the overly emotional scenes were cut out a bit, the movie would’ve been a masterpiece.
Story: 9/10
Art: 7/10
Sound: 8/10 (While not all that impressive, it sets the mood perfectly)
Characters: 8/10 (but a full 10 for Mai-san)
Enjoyment: 8/10 (A really good movie, but definitely something I wouldn’t watch again)
