Full Dive: The Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life! short review by Ja025:


Refreshing: Unlike the standard RPG settings I saw so far this one portrays maybe a more realistic experience one would get in RPG (as sad as that sounds). Working 9 – 5 (or returning from school) just to then go on a quest to kill a demon lord would probably not end well. This also seems to be the core muse for comedy in this anime.

Notable: The dark comedy present in this anime suited me very well but might be off-putting to some people.

Disappointing: Main character often feels ... like he is just going with the flow, almost trying to melt in with the background, avoid conflict or just give up (can’t say I blame him though, the first time he tried to stand up to this RPG world and fight against it got him an interesting Title).

Obvious: I can see the anime has a lower score and I can understand why, if you are not a fan of this type of comedy it turns into a standard everyone-beat-up-the-MC anime which there is plenty of out there.

Why the score: Don’t remember when was the last time I saw dark comedy in an anime which seems to be my favorite comedy type. It really made a good impression on me. I guess if you don’t laugh by the end of the first episode you might not enjoy the rest as much as I did.

Refreshing: Main character is special but not overpowered (not a deus ex machina jerker).

Notable: Isn’t one sided when it comes to characters, shows a diverse set of characters with different personalities / goals / wishes. Story about the world revealed as main story develops.

Disappointing: Animation can be weird / cheap / choppy at times - examples: face expressions look unnatural (like that grandpa from Parasyte), somewhere only one frame is used for multiple seconds or 2 frames switch back and forth to illustrate wind on character’s face).

Obvious: This anime has a similar setting with many other anime of this type (Black Bullet, Kabaneri, Muv-Luv, Attack on Titan, Chrome Shelled Regios, FranXX, Mushibugyo…), so you might enjoy it if you like this setting (although if you like to compare anime to each other maybe not). Story-wise it does have some similarities with Kabaneri and Muv-Luv so if you liked them you might like this, but again, just some similarities.

Why the score: I was pleasantly surprised by balance of this anime. The world doesn’t have overpowered characters, overly good nor overly bad people. Characters evolved different ways to cope with the world the anime is set in and you can clearly understand why is every character the way they are (which also made me realize that many characters were very well explained through those 13 episodes).

Interesting: Confusing story that doesn’t provide you answers until the end – weird but interesting and even touching development, if you’re patient enough.
Notable: It will make you wonder what are you even watching at some points.
Annoying: Weird sexualized violence is the only way Arumi can interact with Satoshi in uncomfortable/awkward situations. Quite weird but probably less weird than the director’s meeting where they approved this to be added to anime.
Frustrating: It takes some time to understand what is going on and why (like 10 episodes).

Obvious: This fusion – confusion might discourage you from watching it till the end. Also ... lots of medium strength ecchi.

Why the score: It sorta comes together at the end so I’m willing to forgive it’s imperfections and flaws. From weird over fun and goofy to serious and touching, you have it all here.

Fascinating: Someone actually spent time to make this.
Amazing: Someone probably liked this.
Sad: I watched it to see how bad it is. Wasn’t disappointed about that aspect.
Notable: The clay models in Takena’s animations are actually quite good.
Appalling: The anime itself.

Obvious: This anime is a joke, there’s no more to it really.

Why the score: I’m just adding text here to make the review long enough to post. Answer is self explanatory and could be summarized in one word – the name of the animation.

To note: If you like poop jokes in a romantic setting you might … want to rethink your life.

Refreshing: A comedy that actually made me laugh.
Interesting: Lots of light ecchi moments and comedy.
Notable: Might teach you a trick or two. Episodes are fast paced (multiple situations in one episode).
Disappointing: Assistant is an asexual log but it’s not overly annoying as he loosens up later on.

Obvious: No connected story development – more a Slice of Life anime. Ecchi is light and comedy is goofy but fun.

Why the score: I enjoyed funny scenes it offered and ecchi it provided. Episodes were fun to watch and I found myself laughing a lot before I even realized how good this anime is. ... Probably one of the better short ecchi comedies I’ve seen so far. Contrast in Senpai’s and Assistant’s personalities and how they function together is quite interesting too.

To note: Comedy is like food, some people get to enjoy it, others don't.
