So I finally got around to watching this special and I must admit I was skeptical at first. The Davy Back Fight arc in the anime had to be one of if not my least favorite part of the cannon One Piece story so when I heard Foxy was returning once more I cringed a little. However, all in all this was a pretty solid feature with some signature One Piece comedy and that iconic final fight we get with every new film installment.
Story/Character:
The beginning of this movie definitely did not give me the greatest first impression as I found myself pausing many times to
...
do something else and coming back. It felt like it was just going to be a silly repeat of the Davy Back arc with a twist and some new characters to boot. However, when they make it to Nebulandia (after the typical kidnap scenario) things really start to pick up. The one thing I just can't stop myself from harping on in this movie is Komei. I can not stress enough how much we needed a villain like Komei in this movie who far over shadows completely nonsensical boring villains like Golden Lion Shiki. He had a clear motive closely following that of Z's with less civilian involvement, very unique utilization, and while he has a gag like other One Piece characters it wasn't something that drew away from the seriousness of his character. By the end of the movie Foxy even grew on me a bit which I certainly wasn't expecting.
Overall:
I don't need to go over art and sound for One Piece since we know exactly what we are getting. So, overall I found this to be a very entertaining special and would recommend watching it. It's not perfect but the introduction of Komei and some other quirks here and there didn't make me feel like I completely wasted my time.

Review contains some spoilers:
Let me start out by saying that this will be a review of both seasons of Love Live: School Idol Project. There is almost no reason to separate the two seeing as Season 2 is a direct continuation.
After being recommended this anime by a plethora of friends and already being a fan of slice of life shows such as K-On I decided to give Love Live a shot. It far exceeded my expectations in every way possible. While I enjoyed the most of the first season more than the second season, it still had a huge impact on me by the ending.
...
So, without further ado lets break this down shall we?
Story/Character:
When it comes to Love Live you might immediately think to yourself that the music has to be the strongest point of this show. I mean, it's an Idol show right and nothing more? That's where you would be painfully wrong. The way this show ties together these 9 girls is flawlessly executed. All of them come from not so much a troubled past, but all have problems many of us faced throughout the course of High School. Their common goal brings them together putting them through numerous hardships and triumphs ultimately leading to their success in saving their school. On the other hand, they did not make it to Love Live the first time showing us the common principle that you can't win everything. On that note, the only thing I did not like about the show was how forced the second season felt. I could have guessed that they would be able to perform at Love Live, but I expected more of a time skip between the two competitions. All of that aside I still found myself engrossed in Season 2 by the heart wrenching end. The three 3rd year girls graduating and leaving the group hit me really hard. Leaving High School and abandoning all of your friends has to be one of the hardest things I have endured personally, and seeing these characters grow together and inevitably parting ways in the end was heart breaking.
Music/Art:
The music was of course fantastic seeing as we are watching a show about idols here. If poppy upbeat music isn't your thing however you might find yourself loathing most of the soundtrack and dance sequences. The art was very bright and vivid leaving me with no complaints in that department as well.
Overall:
At the end of the day this anime has a lot of tropes that are probably going to spike negativity in some reviews , but for me the way that they tied these characters together was beautiful. I always found myself laughing, smiling, or even tearing up throughout the series and I can't wait to watch the movie for more fun to come!

The tragic world of Tokyo Ghoul continues in this prequel focusing on Arima as the mysterious High School investigator. If anyone needed a reaffirmation that Arima Kishou was a badass "Jack" OVA is a pretty good refresher.
Story/Character:
Having read the manga prior to the anime adaptation I have to admit the story was captured quite well. Aside from a few events out of order and expected dialogue differences nothing felt out of place. The only thing that I would have changed was less foreshadowing someone's "true identity" and a little more development between Arima and Fura. It felt like their commitment to each other was a
...
little rushed seeing as they had spent almost no time together unlike the manga that shows them take down many a Ghoul before even saving Minami.
Art/Sound: The animation in this OVA was brilliant and had quite a few exhilarating fight scenes. The music was good as expected of a Tokyo Ghoul related animation. I have always thoroughly enjoyed the mixture of haunting as well beautiful piano tracks the series has to offer.
Overall, I really enjoyed Tokyo Ghoul: Jack. This was a very short review seeing as I only had 30 mins to work with, but I look forward to reviewing the Tokyo Ghoul:re manga when it concludes with a more through break down.

Light Spoilers In This Review:
Welcome to Jurassic Park! A land filled with incredible creatures and danger at every turn! Hold on....wrong movie. One Piece: Strong World takes place sometime between Thriller Bark and the Sabaody Archipelago arcs and focuses on the legendary pirate Golden Lion Shiki. For the last 20 years after escaping Impel Down Shiki has been experimenting with "IQ" plants in order to create extraordinarily powerful animals in which he intends to destroy islands with.
Story/Character: One Piece is certainly well known(in the anime especially) for dragging things out, but this movie just drew the line with me for how much of my
...
time they could waste. I am a huge fan of One Piece and I typically let these types of things slide, but for more than half the movie I felt like I was watching endless exposition. The new antagonist Golden Lion Shiki who is built up in the anime to be this intimidating character taking on the likes of Roger doesn't bring much to the table either. Shortly after watching almost everyone in the crew fight a mutant group of animals we learn that none other than Nami is kidnapped. Later on in the movie she feels forced to join Shiki's crew in order to save her friends and family. This not the first time we have seen Nami in this situation and I felt this was very weak from Oda's usually great story telling. The only saving grace in this movie was Luffy's finishing blow to Shiki but lets be honest here...what is a One Piece movie/arc without that iconic knock out?
Art/Sound: Not much needs to be said here for a One Piece movie. The same soundtrack we have come to love and know is present throughout the movie, and besides some scenes of Shiki's floating fortress of a ship we don't see anything too daunting in the art department either.
Overall: If you are a big fan of One Piece like I am I do recommend watching this movie. However, watching Strong World long after it's release and having already seen Film Z (which is far superior) it's hard to say whether I will ever be watching it again. At best there are a couple of good fight scenes and little quirks such as new outfits that make this movie worth it if you have the time.

Summer Wars is an absolute beautiful movie directed by the potential next great name in anime Mamoru Hosoda. It tells an extravagant tale of the importance of family and how they come together in a time of crisis.
Story/Character:
I could go on a tangent about the greatest part of this movie being Hosoda's beautiful art, but in my personal opinion the story/character development is really where this movie shines. Not only do we get a family bursting at the seams with different personalities and backgrounds, but we also get to see the intimidating virus "Love Machine" grow over time into a life threatening nightmare. Love
...
Machine show cases the common theme that we rely too much on technology in every aspect in our lives, and is countered by the Jinnouchi's strong relationships over long distances and spans of time. Their Granny's final words she left conveyed feelings of forgiveness, acceptance, and many other valuable lessons that I found brought myself to tears.
Art/Sound:
The art in this movie as stated before is phenomenal. Hosoda's background with various other studios working on projects such as the Digimon movies shows glaringly in this movie. Also, his talent as an oil painter is brilliantly illustrated in the lush backgrounds surrounding the Jinnouchi Manor. One minor detail that people don't gather from Hosoda's works is the red outline that the characters bear inside of the digital and or fantasy world. This gives us the feeling that we are in a realm outside of reality immersing you in the fantastic world building in this movie. Not much can be said about the sound other than it has the type of soundtrack I would expect from this film and wasn't something that stood out to me.
Overall: If you are a fan of movies from Studio Ghilbi and the Digimon films this is a movie for you. Heart wrenching scenes show casing the importance of family and unwavering determination, exhilrating fight scenes inside of a digital world, and some unforgettable characters leave me with a rating of 9 for this movie. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and I can't wait to see more works from Hosoda!

This review contains light spoilers:
Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata has your typical RomCom harem set up...but is there more than meets the eye? I certainly think so.
Enter Tomaya Aki an Otaku down to the very core that has a confrontation only seen in fairy tales. In order to capture this moment eternally he makes it his sole mission to make the best Visual Novel that anyone has ever gotten their hands on joined by his gang of a tsundere, kuudere, and his blank canvas of a main heroine.
Story/Character:
I'm going to go ahead and start this break down with what I easily enjoyed the most. Branching
...
off of the vague description of the characters I gave prior if you have seen shows such as OreImo this group of characters may not seem that unique at first glance. However, I was pleased to see that over the course of the show we were delivered with detailed back stories for each character and how they tie back to the main giving them more incentive to reach the final goal. The set up of their development really leaves you in a pinch trying to choose your favorite
The story over I felt was very clever and it reminded me why I love anime and the otaku culture so much. Seeing Megumi develop as a otaku herself brought back nostalgic memories from High School sharing my favorite animes and introducing more than one friend into a culture that soon became a big part of their lives.
Art/Sound:
The art for this anime is very vibrant and appealing to look at. I never found myself at a loss of what was happening on screen and many scenes were accented with a unique filter. All of the small details that referenced different anime made the overall environment fun. The sound for this one is something I can't say drew me in, but it certainly didn't have any major faults. The highlight of the music was definitely a shout out to a certain famous anime at the end but I will leave that for your viewing pleasure!
Overall:
If you are a fan of animes like OreImo, Oregairu, or Toradora I am positive you will fall in love with this anime. From beginning to end it consistently delivered interesting episodes and left the next season open for some intense character developments and more light hearted fun!
