Midnight secretary...actually this manga was the first Josei I read. But my opinion is based on my experience reading shoujo, seinen and mature titles, not on the shounen/action/martial arts titles I know what I must look for and what I should not expect.

Story:
He is charming, arrogant, lustful, irritating and well, a vampire. She is charming, uke (muahaha), strict, loyal and well, a secretary. The first impression is very important and you will get it very easy when they argue, even in the first chapter what a secretary should be - attractive jewel or productive employee. And since she discovers the secret of him being a ... vampire, she, as his secretary, decides that she manage his other needs (no midday appointments, gorgeous girls for meals, etc.) as well as his work needs. It is hard to say something more without spoiling T.T.

Art:
Great at times, but the details can be a little more, while keeping typical shoujo methods like the incredible "bubbles", or shining. Well, since this is josei they fit right, but I though that a little better backgrounds will contribute to the manga more than the fangirls fanservice. But the overall quality is very high, especially the moments of transformation, when Satozuka stops being a secretary and becomes woman.

Character:
Great characters, great development. They pass trough all stages of love like denial, fury, acceptance and mutual affection. In work they know what they are there for and at night they know it too. Humans have human troubles, but the vampires doesn't share them. They have other affairs, usually even more serious. And their behavior is pretty realistic.

Enjoyment:
If you want a funny gag manga you have to look elsewhere. There is some comedy relief, but most of the manga is serious, without the usual tear-jerking or laugh-inducing moments. If you don't like serious manga, have never had a job (you liked) before or never fell in love I doubt that you will understand it or enjoy it.

Overall:
This manga is precisely the sum of it's parts. Probably one of the best I have read at all. Serious, no unrealistic characters, developments or anything like it. So not everybody will like it. I recommend it to more mature or experienced (in mature/seinen/shoujo) readers. But the overall feeling is very good and it is easy to read.

To be brief - battle and comedy oriented, martial arts shonen manga with superpowers.

Story:
Interesting, with lots of unknown things that just want to be revealed. Good base and lots of space for new things (battles). It is good, that the main character is actually a foreigner. It does add something that is not common in the manga.

Art:
Superb art, very detailed. It has the same feeling like Tenjo Tenge, but still it isn't at the level of the best detailed (Mahou sensei negima!, Tenjo tenge, Shin angyo onshi, Air gear). The characters are all well drawn, but not at cost of the backgrounds. The battles are ... good, you can feel the rise in tension. The comedy relief is MORE than good. Hilarious is more accurate.

Characters:
8 for the characters, but -1 for the cliche. -1 if you have read Omega complex too. They are well drawn, well developed, etc., but they still lack something that will give them the "Cult" or "Moe idol" status.

Enjoyment:
Well, fights with super powers, the main character is cool/idiot, there are lots of parody elements. Combine with the great art and the enjoyment is there!

Overall:
I don't think that there is something unclear. All is good or above it, I don't see any reason why you won't enjoy this manga. Well, except that it is too short for now and that there are now scanlations on the net. If you can - read it. If you can't - order. You will be rewarded greatly.

I watched this when I was 12-14 years old, after I have already damaged my brain with Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh. I did enjoy it, but even 12-14 years old kid can see why is something happening (for the coolness and for money) and major...failures.

Story:
Take Yu-gi-oh, make the deck with one card, that is getting stronger (Pokemon?) and make a basic toy. Add something techy and here you go - you have a Beyblade! No, the story isn't that bad, but that is just because it is MADE for being bad. Who cares actually? The bad are bad, the good are good, one good guy is ... becoming bad (Sasukeeeeee!) and then good again. Friendship, love and peace always prevail.

Art:
Since it is MADE to be like an average Yu-gi-oh+Pokemon shonen it has to have something to catch the eye. The battles have effects, the Beyblades have very good animations, the creatures are very good too. So far 9. But the overall animation is not that good, static backgrounds are common issue and are very different from the battles. If you have watched Code Geass you know that the animation can be much better in that direction. But are there 12-14 years old kids have seen it?

Sound:
The fact that I can't remember anything bad about the sound (except "Let it rip" or common curses and screams) is the reason for the 6. I remember the good voice acting, good sounds when they have "Let it rip" and the screams of the monsters.

Characters:
Very shonen, very immature and pretty well developed. Another strong point. When you think Naruto is an idiot and Sasuke is an EMO, then you see, that the characters are not so standard (well, they are, but in a better way). They pretty much behave like humans and not like the average shonen idiots (Goku, Lufy, Naruto, etc.).

Enjoyment:
You know when a thing is something more than the sum of it's parts. Well, here it is less. I liked it, but I didn't really enjoy it nearly as much as other shonen titles. Again - Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon are much more fun, because they make a new world - the author makes the rules or breaks them. Here they are trying to make you believe that the world is real. But it is not. And even a 12-14 years old kid understood that.

Overall:
The overall score is a little higher, because it is unfair such a good, pure shonen anime to be hated that much. It is unreal, but who cares?! Hellsing: The ultimate isn't. Berserk isn't. But they are good, aren't they? So if you like animes for kids - go ahead. I like a little more realistic and mature titles.

With a friend we made an army to take over the world - Pokemon hooligans, Bayblade Pedobears and cards-cerebral-destroyers. Well, they can destroy mountains (Pokemons), crush walls and are like power plant s (Bayblades) and can cause serious, sometimes deadly brain damage (Yu-gi-oh cards).

Finally found how to edit my review.
Psyren - one of the best shounens.

Story: It has almost no connection to the beginning, but is very strong and interesting. How is the future changed, a little more about parallel worlds, about reality. And a little more common, than what it used to be. However, the timeline is very good, everything falls in place perfectly. And follows the cause-reaction pattern, witch is very rare these days .

Art: Bleach-like, shounenish, bloody brutality! "Oh, no! He breaks out!" is what you think, when the evil mastermind escapes. You can feel the Doom oozing out of every deadly Psy power! And ... we have a candidate for Shounen Double Page Whore Award here. When the mangaka gains enough exp (by killing n00bs and drawing manga) we will see OP/GANTZ-like pages. 200+ chapters I think.

Characters: Forget what I wrote, there is an entire new development. It is so intense, that every word I write will be a major spoil. The only cliche that is left is "I will protect you/change the future!". The most important thing is that as the power of the characters grow, so do their mental development. They grow more mature/cocky/greedy/etc. And there is no flashback power ups, no hidden reserves of hidden power. Only the character, his brain, guts and ability to fight/survive/adapt.

Enjoyment - good, very good, the best! The manga is not flawless, but it gives a satisfaction comparable to reading Bleach+Naruto at the same time. Even more. There is no manga that I ENJOY more. Just to be on the safe side - I mean enjoy as "happy, optimistic vibe". There is darker types of enjoyment, but they have no place here. It is rare, but you can't hate even "The bad guys".

Similar - well, you know, GANTZ. And I like both of them.
I think that Psyren has something more. Well being shounen limits the pure violence, blood, gore, nudity, sex and etc., but Psyren has the almost unlimited psy-fi fantasy setting. So if the mangaka has a good imagination (it appears that he has) it can be very interesting after the first year. The story is getting more and more twisted. Same goes for the characters.
