This will be the best show that no one will watch this season. If you are not aware, there is a big commotion with Netflix only just releasing LWA on their streaming platform, and when they did, it was only half the season.
That aside, this show is simply charming. I have always said that Trigger is the best at selling a feeling. Whatever Trigger wants you to feel, it makes you feel that. If that's what you want from anime, just stop reading and go watch the show however you can. Or you can keep reading, no spoilers ahead.
Everything about the show adds to the
...
enjoyment. The characters that you loved from the OVA and the movie are still here and are more consequential than expected. Its a nice surprise to see a show that starts with the intention to make a well written story and be one cohesive whole. Honestly, just go watch the show, especially if you want a fun warm time.
And I feel I should be more critical now, because the show is not perfect. In the grading portion, I gave it a seven, not because the show is poorly written, because it, like the rest of LWA's components are simply outstanding, but the plot is about the least original part of the show. There are twists and turns that make you go oh, but for me, I saw it all coming.
Of course, the answer to that is that this show isn't about the plot but about the friendships Akko builds with the other character, but I disagree. Sure, the other properties seemed to do the whole "friendship is magic" angle, but in the show, we are treated with themes of creating your own self value, and knowing the world and the role you can play in it. The phrase from the show, "Akko doesn't believe in miracles, but she has always believed in herself" comes to mind. But back to why I gave this portion a seven, this kind of story necessitated a stronger plot focus and I feel that is a shortcoming of the show. I think most would agree that they didn't watch because they cared about the plot.
Other than that, the show is fantastic. Its visually intense and you find yourself looking at everything, whether it is the lore steeped vistas they locale or the titles of the books that the characters have in their rooms. There is a clear astronomical amount of detail poured into the show and all of Triggers strengths, visuals, design, action and creating characters you want to succeed.
Any more to say about the show is unnecessary. If you are a Trigger fan, its Kill la Kill wearing robes and practicing magic. If you're not a fan of Trigger's past works, this is still a beautifully crafted show that any reviewer worth his words would recommend.
There is something here for everyone, and I am sure you can find what you want with this show.

Re:Zero will be a great show, but at the current moment, at the end of season one, I would not recommend watching the show.
If you are looking at my scores for the reason why, don't. I'll save you the trouble. It's because the story didn't make me care about the characters. Now, that's a harsh thing to say when characters start dying and all of our heartstrings threatening to be pulled, but I'll tell you why I gave such low scores to story and character.
The problem isn't that the characters are not interesting, but that no one cares who they are. Save a select few,
...
all the character walk in and out of the plot like a revolving door.
Clearly, the show is saving character development and world building for later on and banked on the audience falling in love with Subarus quest to save his girl Emilia.
Maybe this is just me, but we hardly know Emilia. I care about the witch and what the fucks up with the giant hundreds of years old whale. It's poor time management. They spend 25 episodes filling space with surface level villains and heroes and nothing substantial about the overarching story and world.
This is just my opinion, but I wanted a show as epic as the show's first OP, but instead I got a 25 episode shounen series that is almost just as dramatic. My advice, wait to see if season two ends conclusively and binge the whole show. Right now it's just a writer's half baked plot and really cool premise.

This show is great. Even when you take away the hearty amount of references and homages to previous and upcoming works, the show is the shortest show that I've found to be as meaningful and impactful as another 26 episode trigger show.
Uchuu Patrol Luluco is a memorable ride of action, comedy and romance. As per usual, Trigger goes 100% in whatever direction it takes. Be it insane or heartwarming scene, there is no feeling that is not met unfelt. If you are looking for a show grounded in reality, gritty and with dramatic tension, you have come to the wrong show. To believe that this
...
show is supposed to make sense or relatable is totally missing the point.
This show sounds great, catches the eye, has a beginning and an end, and is highly enjoyable whether you're looking for a fun thirteen seven minute episodes, but this anime truly shines with its characters and themes. Without spoiling anything, I believe I can say what this show says about what normal means, and the worthlessness of first loves is dealt with much care and is nuanced. You will find yourselves feeling what your characters are feeling, and rooting for Luluco to achieve her goals however juvenile they are.
As for why a gave this show a 9 instead of a 10 is because if you have watched another Trigger show, you will notice that this show carries many artistic and narrative similarities to other Trigger properties, and for every reference they pull, it reminds me how much I want to watch that show. It is like if you have three diamonds. As a whole very valuable, but if you lose one, at least you still have two diamonds. It may be a personal thing, but I figure that if Trigger took out each reference and instead added original content, the show would have been that last point better and gone from great to amazing. Either way, it is more of a taste thing, your mileage may vary.
I hope I haven't messed this review up too much because I can happily recommend this show. You don't need to be a trigger fan to understand the story told here, and if you have an hour or two to spare, this show is an highly enjoyable watch.
