Not even sure what happened at every twist and turn with every little detail. Not even sure we are supposed to know the answers to every little detail. But alas the ending somehow was a conclusion to a series full of questions. In my honest opinion its impressive that that is even a thing, in my mind endings need to be question-less but here I am with many questions and satisfied all at the same time. Does it make sense? No but it does to me at the same dam time lmao.
At the end I surmised this anime to be a lesson to the youths,
...
and a lesson to all those still yearning to grow as human beings. Everyone (in the anime its just the students but i say everyone cause imo it can relate to anyone who is willing to open their mind) is given this opportunity to do whatever they desire. You can roam about, "waste" time and fool around, spend time with friends and loved ones, work endlessly, become one with nature, study / research, or even "die" in this supposed never ending multiverse. You have the option to choose whatever you want to do. Basically total free reign and control. Or you can take this free time of yours and learn from it and make this situation out to be an opportunity to be the person that you really want to be (given you take the leap of faith and go back to the real world). If you decide to stay in the multiverse longer, the path out is always available to you, whenever you see fit. It could take years but whenever you feel the desire to go back and rejoin society, you can. It seems there is no rush or even need. There is no downside to never going back, just like in life you make your own decisions and this is one of them to make.
Our MCs grew and matured and wanted to return, so they did. Both were unsure whether or not they actually grew as people. The girl mc showed some growth by opening up to nagara, maybe there was another sign i missed but that's what I observed (also could just be the fact she was willing to leave such a comfortable life, that alone could be a sign of growth). Nagara showed some growth by caring for those he normally did not even think twice about (the birds and his old friends).
So in the end no matter who you are and even if it is just these small instances of growth, there is still a firm belief that "our lives are only just beginning. What lies ahead will take just a little bit longer."
