Chainsaw Man (Manga) add
This is a wild ride to say the least.

The simplicity and relatability of Denji surprisingly works very well in the context of the story, the town mouse and the country mouse are great motifs that can be observed through most characters here.
Phenomenal cast, the main trio grows on you the more you read and the antagonists are all unique and compelling.

CSM is a melting pot of ideas in the best way possible.

Imagine a movie directed by the love child of Guillermo del Toro and Quentin Tarantino, produced by Michael Bay and you basically get Chainsaw Man.

Monster (Manga) add
There's this rare feeling of complete awe I sometimes get when I close a book or a manga, Monster was able to make me feel that.

This is one of the most rock solid narratives out there in this medium, perfectly construced from beginnning to end. Amazing cast of characters all around, even the smallest ones. But the medal of course goes to Johan, one of the most compelling antagonists I've personally had the pleasure of seeing. You never have all the answers, or even questions, so you feel like you're right along Tenma in this wild goose chase, slowly and steadily getting answers which sometimes ...

Prison School (Manga) add
Prison School is hilarious and uses fanservice in service (haha) of the jokes it tells, something that I haven't seen done before. The usual ecchi story uses tits and ass like they're dangling keys in front of your 3 functioning brain cells to distract you from the horrid plot and characters they have.

While Prison School also activates my neurons in that way it makes the "fanservice" so outlandish and absurd that it becomes a punchline of it's own, the fanservice isn't there to distract you, it's there to make you laugh. You'll have a serious scene going on and there'll be a shot of the ...

I think Punpun is a masterpiece, and I do not want to read it again.

I get teary eyed looking at earlier panels of this manga from hindsight alone. This is a cautionary tale and a deep dive into loneliness, depression and growing up in an enviroment lacking any form of emotional support. It doesn't shy away from the darkness within all human beings, our invasive and corrupt thoughts and what happens when you let those thoughts control you, both physically and mentally. Much like Berserk, the bleakness that surrounds the main character Punpun makes the genuine and happy moments count tenfold, but this isn't a ...

Kokou no Hito (Manga) add
If there is a manga that embodies a spiritual journey, The Climber is it.

It starts off as a pretty straightfoward sports story about a kid, Mori Buntarou, who is a loner in class and suddenly discovers the thrill of climbing.
I was not prepared for the emotional and symbolic trip I was in for when the author Sakamoto gained full creative control some 30 chapters in and continued this manga "solo" after his co-writer left.
What followed was some of the most beautiful, tense and harrowing moments I've seen in a story. Surrounded by nothing but snowy mountains, haunting screams of the wind and Mori's own ...

Stone Ocean is incredible but can also be somewhat of a mixed bag, sometimes unfairly so. I lean a lot more on the positive side since it's pros far outweigh it's cons. There's this weird idea that it's somehow one of the worst JoJo parts, far from it.

On one side, it's lows can be pretty dull but on another side it also has some of the absolute best highs of the ENTIRE series, one of the best villains, side characters and to top it off an incredible 10/10 ending which is something most authors fail to do nowadays (Not Araki!).

This was a fantastic sendoff to ...

Araki, what the hell were you taking when you made this? Because I want some!

This is where JoJo's peaked for me. Every iffy aspect of previous parts was gone and all the good aspects of previous parts were not only present but improved.
Steel Ball Run has my favorite plot in animanga. It has one of my favorite protagonists, my favorite deuteragonist and one of the best antagonists I've seen in a story to boot. I can't think of a single bad thing about it off the top of my head.

Araki has managed to catch lightning in a bottle.

I adored this manga. It's a small self contained gem. It meaningfully says what it has to say, successfully makes you attached and just leaves as beautifully as it showed up.

I think it's because it is only 16 chapters that it's so memorable to me. It doesn't waste any time but also never rushes the relationships and introspection of the MC and FMC.
The idea of the "worth" of your own life and what it truly means to live a fulfilling existence are perfectly explored here.

Read it, it's an hour or two of your time that you won't regret.

Mixed Feelings
*Implied Spoiler Warning*

Wow, such an incredible series with a shaky but promissing last arc and in the end the main character is thrown to the garbage in order elevate other characters. A bootleg Lelouch ending... How incredibly disappointing.

With the way the final chapter was structured nothing can convince me that it wasn't either 1. Extremely rushed.
Or 2. The original ending was retconned.

139 made some previous chapters completely irrelevant, even whole arcs such as Uprising, betraying everything Eren learned from that arc - What happened to being an Enemy of Humanity and overcoming the nihilistic mentality that made him wish death upon himself? And let's not ...
