A lot of what goes into Eizouken is directly inspired by SoreMachi. There's a three hour discussion you can watch in Japanese between Oowara Sumito and Ishiguro Masakazu on the former's channel, the writers of each of these shows' respective manga, which goes into more detail. Even without knowing this, watching one then the other should make evident some of the themes that the two share in locations, characters, jokes, and designs. Even if the stories aren't too similar, the way they navigate through them are.
