So you are probably reading this with the thought of me telling you about this anime, in the hopes of getting a clue as to what it is about, and whether or not you should watch it. And for that mission I'm your spy! (Sorry, bad joke)
Story 6/10
So to be totally honest, there really is not any story here. It's about the "D-Agency" that trains spies. Or so I thought, because when we get in to the story, they are all fully trained. That is, except for our (Or at least you would think so at first glance) main character, who gets mixed up in
...
the Agency and has some choices to make. And that's only the two first episodes. The rest is mostly episodic about the different missions they carry out. So the story can't really be judged, because it's missing. That in itself isn't really a bad thing. It was kind of easy to watch one episode a week, because there wasn't any real cliffhangers most of the time, which I, personally, kind of missed.
Art 9/10
I really liked the art. It was, in my opinion, kind of "Edgy" to look at. Not as in "New and awesome", but the literal meaning of "Edgy". The lines was very clear, and I especially loved the way they had drawn women. Even though they tended to have many similarities, but much of that fact probably also takes some points from the fashion in that time. It was pleasing to look at, not too many bright colors, and I felt satisfied watching it. There wasn't anything I would complain about, at least.
Sound 8/10
The suspense sounds, the OP, the ED, the background music, the action sounds. All in all I think they fitted really well with the story. I really loved both the OP and the ED, and I didn't feel like skipping them at all. The OP really set the mood for what was about to come, and I'm not all that known in which kind of music that was from the time the anime is set in, but I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that the OP really had that kind of feel.
Character 6/10
I would actually give it less. But also a higher score, so I ended on 6.
The thing is, the show is about spies. Spies can't show who they really are, and as such, it is kind of hard to get to know them, personally. There was some moments where there was clear traits on certain people, but it was just so weak that I rarely knew who was who. I didn't learn their names, their age, or anything at all, and to me it just feels kind of empty. However, the story requires it is this way. This is the main characters only, though.
I felt like what the main characters are lacking in personality, the side characters make a bit up for. I felt their motivation, I could feel their way of seeing things, and I could kind of put myself in their shoes. Not that I would want to most of the time. The anime is set in a period of just before war, and most characters we meet aren't really that nice, but rather hardcore soldiers. So well, it is with mixed feelings I give it a 6.
Overall enjoyment 8/10
No matter how much the anime is lacking in personalities, and story, I still really liked the show. I like being outsmarted (Not that it is that hard though), I love it when characters gets outsmarted, I love when you really can't trust anyone, and it was awesome to watch how the spies outwitted the military. Or didn't. Or did they now?
It was also a very different experience watching this sort of show, because I didn't get to know the characters, and I didn't get to feel for them. All I got was to watch, objectively, and make my own opinions on right and wrong.
But in all honesty, this anime isn't for everyone. If you are looking for an anime with very episodic storyline, action, war setting, with military, and don't really mind not getting all the answers, then I would recommend watching. The good thing is that you don't feel compelled to watch the entire thing in one go. -This could also be a kind of bad thing though.
But if you are looking for a complete story, where everything makes sense, and where you can get to know the characters in a wonderful way, then this is probably not the show for you.

So I began to watch this thinking it was the ordinary, normal reverse harem anime, with a girl that had the generic standard type of personality and guys surrounding and falling in love with her, because of different things. And boy was I wrong. I can't even begin to point out how wrong I was. I just saw the picture and thought "Hey, stereotypical reverse harem. I'm bored, let's watch", and that, my friends, is how I slowly entered the hell that is Ayashi no Ceres.
Story 9/10
The story is about the twins Aya and Aki, though Aya takes the main lead pretty fast.
What I thought
...
would be the fluffy lovestory with many males around one female quickly became this train to my feels utter destruction. Every stop had tragic events right around the corner, and while we did get to see some romance and happiness, that would quickly get to a point where we would just wait for the next lightning to strike. The tragic events actually came to a point where the characters just couldn't handle it and was like "Yea, it was tragic, but like, we are used to it, so let me freak out a bit and get back to you tomorrow".
The story in itself messed me up pretty badly. But if it was only tragic I wouldn't have watched it to the end. The tragedy in this is so freaking beautifull that I just couldn't take my eyes off.
Art 6/10
I know this is an old anime, but the art still kind of took away something of the enjoyment for me. I found myself forgetting to concentrate on the events of the story, only to keep thinking "Just move those mouths two cm down or something". It just really annoyed me a lot, and I thought I would get used to it, but I didn't really. Other than that I guess the art is what to expect.
Sound 8/10
I don't really notice the background music unless it's totally off, so I guess it was okay. The reason for giving it 8, however, is because of my love for both the OP and the ED's. They just embody the whole feeling I get from the anime, and the OP especially is so powerful and sad. Thinking back I should have gotten a clue, that this wasn't a "Kiss kiss fall in love" kind of a deal...
Character 9/10
So let's talk characters, because even though the plot was kind of original (Only kinda), the characters would be the thing that would make or break a show. And these really made it.
Aya, our heroine, starts out just being a normal girl. She is only 15 when the anime begins, and at her 16th birthday, where the anime really takes hold, everything just changes around her. Like, literally everything. She finds out she has a celestial being (I think it was called) inside of her, her whole family wants to kill her, and so she has to flee. The way she grows as a character is outstanding. It's very human, and not as if she is either too weak or too strong all the time. She shows both her strong sides and weak sides. I don't know if I imagined it, but as the anime progresses it almost feels like she matures a lot. Both her clothing and facial expressions. And everything in between I guess.
Toya, a very important character, also really evolves. I would go in-depth with it, but that would be kind of a spoiler.
Same with Aki, Ayas twin brother.
The one, however, I am mostly pleased with is the character named Alec, but I would really suggest people to watch it.
In general the characters mostly have very noticable personality changes in the good way. There is a few exceptions, of course, and other characters whom aren't given any time to shine, but because of the time I can see as to why they did as they did.
Overall enjoyment 9/10
As I started with, I thought this would be a normal reverse harem anime, and then I boarded the train to hell instead. I was not, the least, prepared mentally or emotionally for this bormbardment of feels I got thrown at me. I cried, I hurt, I felt with the characters, and I truly ended up feeling with them in not that much time. Now I feel empty and sad, because even though this anime was tragic, I really loved it. I really enjoyed it. I like anime that can get me to feel something, and with this I went through almost my whole feeling register. So well. I'm sad that I'm finished.

This anime is so funny I almost lost my head.
Story 1/10:
So... About the story. I don't even know what the story was. It just jumped from time to place to time to place, with the occasional random background shot of stations and traffic lights that makes no sense in the plot (if there was one), whatsoever.
Art 3/10:
The art was at least so good that you could recognize the different characters. There is really nothing else to say. Be that positive or negative.
Sound 2/10:
The sound only gets a two, because it was hilarious so bad it was. Some of the footsteps sounded like people drumming. I
...
also think the guns changed their sound effects all of a sudden.
Character 1/10:
TAKERUUUUUUUUUU!!!!
Overall enjoyment 2/10:
While it was a horrible experience I laughed way too much, to not give it a 2. So if you need motivation in life, I highly recommend watching it, because everything will only look brighter afterwards.

I don't think I can even begin to describe how amazing this masterpiece is, but I have decided to try, even though words are worthless when compared to this masterpiece.
Story 10/10:
The story overall was simply put amazing. It starts out a bit slow, like the summer breeze at the beach in the evening. Imagine the sunset in the distance coloring the sky from light blue to crimson red, and the sound of the small waves slowly washing up the shore and the smell of warm seaweed. Not long after, however, the waves begins to get bigger, and soon starts to take your emotions on a
...
ride. Out in the ocean of emotions you will meet playfull dolphins, sad whales, and sharks just below the surface. As the story, and the wave goes on, the wind suddenly stops blowing, with a very surprising end, and a feeling of wanting more, but still being a whole being. Feeling complete and with a sense of bliss.
Art 8/10:
The art was unique. It gave of a warm feeling, like you where home, and just in time for mothers homecooked meal. It was very dymanic. The colors where in the pink scale, and I found myself feeling the love and compassion that the art projected. The color pink also represents recieving of nuturing, which in my opinion, is the theme of this anime. The art also leaves many questions asked, it's mysterious and takes you in. When you start watching you almost can't stop. The reason I could only give it a 8 was, that the background was kind of empty, which felt far from the original warm feeling I got.
Sound 9/10:
The sound was relaxing and complimented the story and the art very well. It was well timed. There was, however a little problem where it sounded like the sound came from other sources than the characters, which is also why I am only giving it a 9.
Character 10/10:
I will mainly describe the dog and its owner in this anime.
The owner comes of as a gentle man around 33 years old. He seems like he really loves his dog. He is very playfull and has very kind eyes.
The dog, who is the main character, suits its owner perfectly. It enjoys spending time with its owner, and likes being petted. The dynamic between the two characters feels very realistic and most people would be able to relate to the situations.
Overall enjoyment 10/10:
It made me laugh, it made me cry and now I sit here, writing a review in hope of sharing my feelings and my overall love for this anime, that is simply put, a masterpiece, so other might give it a try.
Every component in this journey fitted each other so well, that it was like watching a jigsaw puzzle slowly being put together in the most satisfying way. The final picture is burned on the insides of my eyes for an eternity, and I'm sure it will fill my dreams with tears of both happiness and sadness.
That's all from me, thanks for reading :)
