Well this anime I feel is one of the hidden gems of this season and might not be liked by all but this show is def something you should watch.

First off the show throws you in to the life of a boy named Jintan and he is being played around with a girl who you eventually realize he can only see. Now this might seem kind of generic to you but this show does something no other does it does not try to hide the fact that there is a dead person who only wants one thing and that is to find her wish and ... have it granted. There is no twist involved, no magic powers or miraculous happenings. Everything is pretty much straight forward and the show is driven by the characters emotions and interactions with one another and not many shows can pull this off.

Anyway by the first episode you will see that this story does involve a group of friends. There are five of them that are currently living and the missing link is Menma (the spirt that only Jintan can see) making a group of 6. They've all lived their own lives since Menma's accident and we basically see how each of the main cast lives have been. Each character has their own different personality type so you won't feel like anyone is overlapping or falling in to the generic personality types. Also no one gets left out in the character development and is given their own background story. Making for a ending with no loose ends.

Besides the story, Ano Hana has a pretty good opening and ending theme song that perfectly fits and always comes in at the right moments, so if you dont like the story thats one thing that should def catch your attention.

The art of the show which you should realize in the first three minutes of the show is exactly like Toradora. So if you enjoyed that anime art style you wont mind this one at all.

I can say this might be one of those hit and miss slice of life/drama anime that people might not like but you should give it the 3 episode test and see if its worth watching for yourself or not.
