Unbelievably funny.
Wildly entertaining.
My one problem with this show is that (as of now) two of the sexualized female characters look like straight-up children. That's it. That's a pretty big "it", but that is literally the only thing stopping me from saying this is a 10/10 masterpiece of harem comedy.
I cannot remember watching any other anime that has made me laugh out loud, multiple times, every single episode, occasionally laughing so hard that I have to wipe the tears away and rewind to see what I missed.
Dude suffers a plot hook that MAKES him have 100 soul mates, and that's all there is to it.
...
It is absurdly hilarious. Through some form of black magic f*ckery this show takes your disbelief, crams it into whatever reservations you had, and throws it all out the window.
TL;DR This show is simply the best kind of dumb and is an absolute masterclass in "how-to harem comedy".
10* for greatness.
-2* for illegal waifus (Too smol, no dice, gtf outta here with that).

I love you, Madhouse. Rarely is an iyashikei anime so badass, and rarely is a shounen/shoujo so blessed with perspective.
Frieren is an elf, a creature whose lifespan dwarfs that of humans, their empires and even their legends. <- That alone is enough to get me curious.
Frieren is a mage, a class of innate talent that invariably grows with time. <- Can you see where this is headed?
Frieren was invited to join the hero's party to defeat the blahblahblah, and they have successfully done so. <- ...Wait, what?
You now watch Frieren as she faces new challenges, grapples with her own underdeveloped emotions, and deals with
...
the severely-underexplored consequences of her obscenely long lifespan and the effects her life has on the (fantastical) world around her. <- Wait, hold on... Did you say *after* they've already defeated the blahblahblah?
YEP! That's just where the fun starts.
You know those moments from Disney/Pixar films that make you feel like your floating? <-Sprinkled throughout.
You know those scenes that make you truly empathize with a character's slightest expression? <- Sprinkled throughout.
You know those moments of sweet, sweet sakuga that make you go, "Wow, that was awesome."? <- Sprinkled throughout.
What is this anime? This is a "healing anime" meant to have a slow pace, good emotional depth, and rewarding story developments. It also happens to be a true fantasy with good writing, excellent storytelling, phenomenal animation, and quite a few a sprinklings of what makes something truly great. There are unique story elements, unusual plot hooks, genuinely interesting characters, and wide-ranging character developments that don't take an entire seasons to manifest. In fact, if you look at it through the lens of basically any normal show, the developments in this one happen at a blinding but, somehow, well-balanced pace.
This one is meant to be savored, but is also perfectly suited for binge-watching.
It feels (to me) like a much more tame, non-isekai, wider-perspective, chill-vibes cousin of Mushoku Tensei. It doesn't seem to stray too far into darkness or perversion, but that's kinda the point of an iyashikei - to make you feel good about what you've just witnessed. <- I certainly do, and now I'm mad that I didn't just wait until it was finished airing.
I do not have mixed feelings. This show is fantastic and I wish there was more like it. If you'd like to see fanservice, dumb jokes and OP MCs powering-up for entire episodes, this show is probably not for you. That being said, put your phone on silent, turn off anything else that makes noise, grab yourself some snacks and give it a watch. Who knows, you might develop some taste.

8.5/10
Great. Thoroughly entertaining. What a good show looks like.
It lays down the stupid anime premise first, then it does exactly what it intends to do, does it quite well, and continues to do it for the entire duration of the show.
I binged it because I couldn't stop watching (and smiling).
Came across this and thought "oh, that sounds like a decent brainless rom-com mashup for background noise." <- That is not what this show is. From the animation style(s) to the chosen subject matter, nearly every aspect of this show fits together like it was precision machined for this purpose. It's way beyond
...
palatable - it's fun, funny, adorable, and drives the main focus home with little requirement for suspension of disbelief. (A few spots here and there after initial plot, but altogether tangibly heartfelt.)
The cute, cringe, and kooky are all dialed in to exactly where they should be, which means I enjoyed nearly every moment of every episode. Good job, Madhouse!
My one complaint: I was hoping for a bit more creativity when it came to character developments and the drama in the final episodes. At the same time, still enjoyed the crap out of it.

It's time... Time to write a review of my single favorite Yuri show.
Maybe the romance is boring, or the characters are unlikeable, but... YES. THAT'S RIGHT. Despite it's ridiculous premise, this show is just real. Real romances aren't necessarily ultra-dramatic or filled with ghost stories or heroics. Real people make dumb decisions and aren't necessarily that likeable. That's what really drives it home.
It may be just an average yuri show with beautiful visuals, but for me this show absolutely screams "I have been here before". It is bleeding personal experience from every frame, and blatantly attempts to put you right back into the anxiety-inducing subtleties
...
of your first real romance, down to unintentional manipulation and unbridled adoration for someone who does not deserve it. Sure, it may be wildly different from the actual circumstances, complications, or interactions that you experienced in your youth, but, for me, I swear I could feel Yuu's heartbeat every time she felt Nanami's breath or touch. I didn't cry because of whatever was happening to the characters, I cried because, for the first time in forever, I remembered what it felt like to be throat-deep in the maw of nascent love and genuinely unsure of what comes next.
It's not crazy or wildly entertaining or anything like that, it just feels insanely personal. I think that's probably the reason it's one of the highest rated yuri shows ever made (despite being "average" or "boring").
As far as I'm concerned, it's my gold standard - an absolute masterwork that all serious romances should aspire to surpass.
Two romance shows that have managed to do that and, likewise, earn a coveted (10*) rating from me? 'Your Lie in April' and 'Kaguya-sama: Love is War' - the latter is a comedy, both were designed to do very different things from 'Bloom into You', and all three masterfully execute the stories they were meant to convey.

What a treat. Not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but still exceptionally satisfying to watch.
Honestly, I'd say a solid (8), then a bonus half-star just for leaving so much potential for season 2.
This show was almost pure story, and that is just fantastic. I have no idea how you'll feel about it, but for me it was a breath of fresh air that was just enough of everything: Quite entertaining, just enough action, just romantic enough, just dramatic enough, just creative enough, just funny enough to keep my full attention. The animation is solid, the world-building and comedy has both obvious
...
and subtle sides, the story is interesting, and I genuinely want to see these two together.
It certainly could've been better, but it didn't have to be as good as it is in the first place. Definitely worth a watch.
Side note: If you're looking for pure yuri without the fantasy vibe:
As always, I still recommend the bleeding-personal-experience absolute masterwork that is 'Bloom into You'

Don't thank me, thank TROYCA.

One of those "would've been a masterpiece if-" shows. Also a "...didn't see that coming" show.
Three things are certain:
1. I want more.
2. You should watch it.
3. It makes sense for 'Shinsekai Yori' to be on this show's "recommended" list.
Excellent animation.
Captivating story elements.
Genuinely intriguing, and occasionally thought-provoking.
...
Feels like it's explicitly not made for children.
It's different, and that makes it wonderful.
BUT...
It feels unfinished. It seems like there were constant opportunities to make this show absolutely outstanding, but the writers fell short or were just too lazy to dive that deep. Some scenes make you think "This show is great!" while others make you think "Neat... But why?..."
All is not lost. They could easily make next season a parallel to this one - filling in gaps, answering questions, and showing all of us why the writing is actually more brilliant than it seems. I sincerely doubt that will happen, but I can hope.
Just as with many other shows, I feel like this one is just barely missing the absolute gold that it has the potential to be. I still loved it and I'm still going to recommend it, but I really hope next season blows us all away with the greatness that's missing from this one.
