Mainichi Kaa-san is an anime based on the mangaka's real life, although there's (of course) also a lot of fiction in it.
The series offers a good laugh here and there and sometimes it's just sad to watch because you can symphatize with the main character so much.
A drunk husband, two stupid and annoying kids and a housemother who despises them (yet loves them more then anything else), who wouldn't want to watch that?
The series is easy to get into, each anime episode has short stories about laughable situations. The main focus is the mother, who tries to become a mangaka while taking care of
...
her kids and (stupid) husband, not everything goes smoothly as her work often gets interrupted, ruined or she doesn't do anything due to a writer's block.
The art is also one of the good things of this series, the style it's done in really gets the humor out of it, it's perfect for facial jokes, angry scenes and of course for the cute and cuddly scenes when everyone makes up.
About the sound, I normally don't talk a lot about it, not that it's any different now. The opening song fits the series greatly and so does the ending. Both are fun to listen and watch. The voice-actors do a good job and there's nothing wrong with the background music.
In short, it's an anime series, basically for everyone who enjoys a good laugh or simply likes anime without the great plots, character development etc.

Edit: I got several PMs, that I gave this ONA a TOO GOOD rating because I'm a Sega/Sonic fanboy. But let me say this: I. AM. NOT. A. FANBOY. I despise Sega and I don't like Sonic, so the good rating it actually... cause it's good.
the story isn't that much, everything else actually impressed me.
The story starts off with two kids going into a haunted mansion, when out of nowhere, two ghosts scare the shit out of them and take a photograph of their scared expressions, this to please a fellow female ghost who likes photographs of scared people/things. Quickly followed by Sonic and his
...
pink little friend.
The art's good, a nice style which fits the kind of animation and short very nicely. The animation's very good, something I didn't expected, but in the fight and other scene's, it's truelly amazing.
The voice-actors didn't have to do much, just some laughing, yelling, coughing, grunting and some other sounds. The background music fits perfectly while other sounds being used, thunder, transformation sound etc. are also good. The characters are good to, I like the female ghosts, and the other two ghosts are maybe a bit stereotypical, but enjoyable. So are Sonic and his little friend. The two kids in the beginning were done greatly, while the kids that featured on other photographs look good too.
The only thing I didn't liked was the scene's where Sonic was "about to" transform. Out of nowhere, he gets "ill", drops down, and then suddenly yells out of pain, looking directly at the moon that JUST appeared after being hid behind some clouds.. They could've done something differently, better.
It's highly enjoyable for being a short, it's animated good, great sound, nice fight and some hilarious looks.

Guns were used in that era, so the idea isn't that original, since it's the same, just using more modern guns.
There's a story going on in the background, namely; The family of the main character got killed and he's out for revenge, sort of, he doesn't want to kill, yet, he want's to kill the guy who did it. Besides that, story's go from episode to episode, which are all just as unintresting as a shaved armpit.
The art's good, there's some major quality loss in good animated scene's, or just scenes which are done too quick (I presume). The sound's good, at first, you
...
can hear the voice-actors struggle a lot to do a good job, but after the first 2 episode's they got used to it. The animation's nothing special, a lot of looping and slow/bad animation, while some scene's have incredible animation (for that time), but in those scene's the artstyle changed or got bad.
There are some intresting characters, which we know nothing about, we get some unnecessary flashbacks and quote's, relations that don't matter etc. They don't have deep backgrounds, the only thing intresting about them is probably your very own thought about them, and the way they look.
There's not much enjoyment, unless you don't care about a story or good quality. It's just an anime if you need a quick fix, or if your really into samurai series with a small twist too it.
And that brings the total score to exact: 5

There's a decent story in this OVA, at least, for Air Gear, it's just about another battle for territory and the things related to it, like gaining a rank.
But .. it really doesn't develop, they get there, make an appointment, and do the battle. This happens in 3 parts in the OVA, in the beginning, middle and end, which takes up to barely 5 minutes al together. The art's pretty fair, it's not as good as it should be, and there are a lot of flaws, both in the art and animation section.
Saying that, the animation isn't that much, there's some stop-motion, a lot op
...
looping and cheap technique's to make some scene's, which could be better, since the series itself contain some good animated scene's, the characters are pretty much like they need to be, so that's good.
The voice-acting, and other sounds probably had some quality-loss, in both english and japanese dub (saw both), in the english one, the voice-actors just did a terrible job, while in the japanese one, they didn't do much better. The background music has some issues too.
The overall enjoyment isn't high either, you'll either have to be an amazing fan of Air Gear, or like LQ anime. For manga readers which want to see the anime, they could skip this, since it's not that intresting (tho', they deal with manga issues), and for the anime watchers.. just watch is for completion's sake.

There's not much of a story here, the Principal and Saito find a chest full of beachwear, bikini's and swimsuits. After Saito explained what these were for, the Principal dismissed the original summerschool trip and made a new one, to the ocean. Then, fooling all the students and the princess and her bodyguard, letting them believe, that clothing is for rituals (like volleyball, and watermelon bashing >_> ) to please the God of Water (or something like that). Of course, it's starts with beachwear and swimsuits, it goes to bikini's and last but not least, swimsuits excisting out only three seashells (which is worn by
...
both male and femal characters).
The art is good, perhaps a bit better then most in the series, which is good of course, the animation is still no the same level, while they did a better job on the sound, the voice-actors .. acted better in my opinion, while the background music and sounds are in better quality too and since it happens between two original episodes, the OVA has the same opening and ending as the series, which are in the same quality and contain the same clips.
The characters are still the same, though we get more intimate with the female one's, and see the Order of Perverts in their natural habitat (So they wish). I'm not one to get enjoyed by ecchi anime easily, but this OVA got me. I enjoyed the first "contact" with the Giant Octopuss, and I enjoyed some several close-ups too, which I normally don't.
Some jokes, scene's and sounds made by the voice-actors are just hilarious and really make you laugh, I even laughed out loud .. twice! Which I normally don't, not by any (or at least most) comedy anime's. For people who like Zero no Tsukaima it's a fun OVA, and for the people who watched the show (and enjoyed it) for the wrong reasons, it's HIGHLY enjoyable.
Even though the story's nothing special, everything makes up for that.

This was a pretty intresting story, someone makes up a cute program, which gets infected by the bad Digimon etc, so all the electronic things go into mayhem. Haha, too bad no one died.
Anyway, the story's pretty cool, they did a good job on it in this Digimon Tamers movie, a great job actually. The art is still the same, the quality's just a bit better, so is the animation and the sound, still gotta love Guilmon's voice actor right?
The dissapointing parts of the mo...vies are the fights in the movies, they can barely defeat the weak Digimon, evolve way to easy and if they
...
do, they can defeat them in one attack, the higher-up digimon got eliminated in an instant too, and the final "boss" was another piece of that digital cake. Really dissapointing.
But that aside, we got a few new cool characters which got introduced, an old friend of Takato, Kai. A surfer looking guy who's carefree and lives in a temple, then we've got that grandfather of Kai. An old dude playing some kind of guitarish instrument, he even fights against a Digimon using.. ka-ra-te(?), without succes of course. And then the girl, Minami, the one that introduces the problem to Kai and Takato. Some others too, but those don't matter, but they did a great job, I love the new characters, and of course the old.
Highly enjoyable for digimon lovers and other people.

I'm someone who can enjoy romance and drama manga's (and anime's of course).
So I enjoyed this too, I found out that there was a manga (more actually, even an anime and several drama's). of a true story, so something that actually happened.
When I found out it was this story, I was suprised, that it was a romance, and not a warstory, or some kind of crazy deranged drama. But it was a nice suprise, this is about a guy, a "Otaku", who "saves" this ...woman from being harassed by a drunkard in the train, they exchange some information and keep narrowly contact with each other.
This
...
guy falls in love with the girl and tries to get in more touch with her and even tries to get into a relationship, he does this by asking his fellow "otaku's" on a forum he visits every day, they give him al kind of advices, and there are more and more people joining the specific thread to help our poor "otaku" out.
I (as a guy) found this pretty intresting, how people who don't know that guy help him, how they care that he found luck, (let's call the guy Densha), Densha himself thought that these were the best people of the world, he couldn't be happier.
The changes through time were great too, from this lazy bum "otaku" to this normal good looking guy. Densha went through major sacrifice's (his collection) and major changes. When they finally get together it's just brilliant and wonderful, I had goosebumps all over me. Just... amazing..
So, the fact that this is based on a real story, is great, how they make the story and let it run in this manga is really great too, I wasn't too fond on the art on the first sight, but it was actually pretty cool. The characters are great too, Densha, the girl but even so, the people who help Densha out. Truly amazing.

SPOILER ALERT
A brilliant story, and the system which the murderer uses in amazing, the story itself is good then too, and the plot isn't what you think it is. A cool story, with a second story in it, a piece of Mouri and Ran's past, I gained alot of respect for Mouri through this (and the first) movie. I see this character in a (almost) new light.
Same ol' characters, just as usual good, we get a look at a piece of Mouri's and Ran past, which made me see Mouri in a new light, a better light, the new introduced characters, the old villian, the
...
victims and the murderer are great, all are different, yet the same in a way, and without knowing it (most of them) bear a relationship with each other. Magnificent!
It all begins with Ran having a nightmare, where her father shoots her mother. This actually happened, he only grazed her. Now, 10 years later, Ran tries to find out, why did he shoot the kidnapper, if he knows, he could've killed his own wife? This is the sidestory for this movie.
The real story is how a murderer takes out (or tries to take out) 13 people which are related to Det.Mouri, by playing a smart death-system via cards and numbers. As soon as injuries become murders, our... police team, Mouri and Conan get angered and try to find out who the murderer is, and why he's doing it. It all folds together in the end, with most of the (chosen) victims in one place, this is where the mainplot folds out. At the ending of the movie itself, the reasoning from the past (where Mouri shot his wife) comes to place, when it's happening again, (this time of course with Ran and Conan).
The art's good, so is the animation, sometimes the animation is really smooth and lovely, sometimes it's just normal animation. But they did a good job.

I found the title intresting, so I decided to watch it, that it was a pretty unusual story is figured, occuring to the title.
So, a Dream Sphere Dealer and his Dream Sphere Creator (which is a ugly rat who poops out the sphere's.) find that this girl, the lead character takes life way to serieus, so they decide to pay her a visit and let her go through some various dreams she can have thanks to the sphere's.
That's actually the story, how it goes. Naho has a lot of ...doubts about things in her life, about her baby brother, the way she thinks of her
...
late mother. Through various dreams she finds out that she would rather forget her mother, this would make living with her father and babybrother easier.
Once decided dreams (from her brother and herself) collide and start to collapse, they (the dealer, his petrat and Naho) need to escape out of the dreams. Now this is all just great, the end is to be foreseen even before the movie starts, but it's still a funny story.
The art is pretty cool too, normal, and yet some weird things. Sometimes I disliked how they drew several expressions, but that doesn't happen to much, the sound's okay too I guess.
About the characters itself, Naho is a teenage girl who has doubt about things in her life, she's going through a rough fase (self-proclaimed by her.) etc, basically one of the normal teenagers, her baby brother is a baby that just can't do anything else but mess everything up and whine, but then we get the intresting one's. The dealer and his pet. The Dealer looks like a shady character once introduced, and well, he is. He's ugly, has a weird grin and his voice-actor makes him even more shadier. Which is good, he's supposed to be shady. His petrat is cool too, he makes the dream sphere's containing dreams by just thinking it and shitting it out, he also has a bad temper and smokes.
Intresting huh?
Although it's a special and it just takes 24 minutes to watch it, it's pretty enjoying. My thoughts, when it ended, were that they could've made a cool movie out of this idea, I don't think that will happen, but it would've been better as a movie then as a special, that's my opinion at least.

Buzzer Beater, a Basketball anime, I love basketball, never thought this anime would work, the first time I saw it, I shared that opinion, the second time too, but now I've watched it for the first time I really enjoyed it.
So it's about Basketball, intergalactic basketball that is. Which is a pretty cool idea, if they used basketball like it would be in real life, it would've been just as good as now, but perhaps the intergalactic part brings the anime more out to the public, sin...ce it's something special.
I really enjoyed the characters, the main character is like most shonen-kids, loud, irritating and cocky,
...
but since it's a regular thing, you probably won't mind it. The other characters are really cool too, they look normal, some even plain, but that's a cool think, I wished they would've worked them out more, but maybe that'll happen in the sequel(?) "Buzzer Beater 2007". But how they want to create a human team to enter the intergalactic league is cool, since we got underrated too much by those stupid aliens.
Oh, the aliens, that part could've been better too, it's an intergalactic match, but in the entire show, we get to see 2 races, Gorans and Humans. They should've expended that view on races more.
The art is good, at first I got annoyed by it, because when they spoke or awed, their lips hung out, that's kinda annoying. But if you get further to the end that dissappears, or I just got used to it. The animation itself is from mediocre level, and in the field/matches/games it's entirely different, sometimes they use CG/3D art, for example the ball or if they shoot hoops. And sometimes they use this special form of camera work.
The motion is smooth yet simple, and the envirment moves like crazy, which makes it look like a drunk is holding the camera, this was weird once I saw it, but sometimes it gives out a cool scene, the matches itself are sometimes simple, but exciting. The normal things you see in these kinds of anime's, the training and the result of training, can't be seen in this anime. The end of the last match was a bit too.. weird? It didn't fit the character that much, nor the anime itself.
We can see the main character en the head point guard train in one episode, but there's no result left to be seen, not enough, but that could be that the opposing team was just to strong. Kind of disappointing, the length of this anime could've been increased too.
It's just 13 episodes, and how the story goes now it's fine, I don't know if the viewingrate was good, but when it was, they should've lengthened it, maybe to the mediocre 26. Since now it still ended in the smaller league.
Besides that it's actually a quite enjoyable anime, there are funny sequences, but also tense one's. For a basketbal-lover, it might be a bit disapointing, but it should be watched since it's pretty good.
