*VERY MINOR SPOILERS*
(the "spoilers" mentioned are all basic things we learn very, very early on in the manga)
I'm writing this review after watching the anime adaption, as I genuinely loved the anime and wanted to continue the story after. It was very unusual for me as I generally don't read mangas, but the anime was so great I had high expectations for the manga. And let me say - it totally lived up to those expectations.
For those who haven't read the manga OR watched the anime, I'll give a brief overview (I wrote a review on the anime as well, although to be honest
...
my ideas were a bit jumbled).
Basically, the story revolves around our main character Fuutarou, the number 1 ranking student in the grade and a pretty uptight personality. This isn't to say he doesn't care, because as we go through the story we learn more about the type of person he is; how he genuinely does care about others - he just doesn't give a damn what other people's perceptions of him are. Fuutarou is an incredibly fun and reliable MC to follow, he isn't the standard weak, useless, crying MC in a harem. He takes charge and steps up when it matters most. Even though he is a great MC to follow, he still has to suffer in poverty with his father and little sister. And to make money for his poor living conditions, Fuutarou takes up a tutoring offer from a wealthy man, asking to teach his five daughters who are failures when it comes to school. And as we all know from the title, these are the main girls.
The five daughters are all quintuplets, which includes the fact they look extremely similar. This is one of the reasons I gave the art a 10/10, because they look similar but are still distinguishable to the reader/viewer. Of course, these similarities lead to a lot of antics revolving around them pretending to be one another in certain situations, which is entertaining but also interesting for character development. More on the sisters, each one has their own unique personality. While the personalities are all based off of common tropes (tsundere, kuudere, etc) the characters are fleshed out extremely well, and aren't just walking ecchi girls.
In fact, there is very little ecchi to straight up none at all which is another fantastic thing about this manga. It looks more at an ACTUAL scenario (even if unrealistic of course) of five sisters slowly but surely falling for the main character, and their interactions with one another as they realize their changing emotions. The girls don't fall for him all in the first chapter and then turns into an ecchi fanservice, the story is very well put together and gives great progression of not only the girls' (and even Fuutarou's) character, but also their emotions for one another in terms of the sisterhood bond, another big theme in this manga.
Talking about story quick, I'd like to point out how great the pacing is. No one arc takes way too long, but also has enough time to make considerable development in the characters and the progression of the story. There is no filler, and every chapter felt like we learned something new about one of the girls or Fuutarou, learned about what potential problems will happen between the group, and gives lots of emotions mixed throughout.
For the most part, that covers what I wanted to review about the manga without giving any sort of spoilers. When I first watched the anime literally less than a week ago, I came in with low expectations and ready to enjoy another "trashy" fanservice anime. But I was genuinely glad to see how this show and manga took a different spin on the harem tag. Especially how easily the author could have made it a fanserivce, ecchi anime, the story's direction has a huge focus on each character on an individual and their relationships between one another. Picture it like a spider web, with each character having a string attached to the other five people in the main group (5 girls + Fuutarou = 6). And as the manga progresses, each one of those individual strings gets stronger as we learn more. It also has a big emphasis on the sisterhood between them, Fuutarou aside, which is another fantastic thing - they don't just oogle over our MC the entire time.
I wrote a lot, so I'll end it here. I gave this a 10/10, it truly is a fantastic series for what it is presented as - a romance, harem comedy with some drama mixed in. A lot of emotional moments from happy to nervous, and I had multiple periods of being anxious as to what would happen next. I highly recommend reading this, or even watching the anime which ends off on chapter 32/33 of the manga. I hope you all give this manga a shot, and thank you for reading. Hopefully my writing wasn't too fumbled with ideas scattered around. Thanks!

I'm a fan of the seasonal "trash" anime, and you already know what I'm talking about. Guy meets girl, she instantly falls in love, some stuff happens, then the show's over. The Quintessential Quintuplets, however, spices things up and isn't the overly cliche show you would expect.
The harem is five girls who, as you might expect from the title, are all sisters! It leads to some funny moments regarding their looks and being mix matched, but it also has some more semi-serious moments because of that sisterhood. The five girls are all pretty unique in personalities, and at least one will cater to you certainly.
...
You get a general idea of the type of character they are early on, but as they warm up to the MC you get to go a bit into their thought process and actually see what causes them to change because of our MC.
Which is another reason why I really loved this show; the main character doesn't do one stupid, overly simple action (if you're a fan of trash anime you know what I'm talking about) to win over the hearts of all the girls. While debatable for one or two girls, he actually puts in the effort to "bond" with the group, bond being working as their tutor. But this process is very well done, and we get to see how as both the MC and girls learn about each other, they warm up and we get to watch their relationships build up. It's so much more satisfying this way rather than all the girls instantly falling for him in the first episode.
As for the main character himself, he is very unique and a fun lead to have. While maybe slightly dense, it is nowhere NEAR as bad as a lot of other trashy anime, and in fact does a good job at handling himself around the sisters. He is extremely smart, and his purpose is to tutor the girls which doesn't go as easily planned. He is a loner and intelligent, immediately giving off some Hachiman vibes (even though I think 8man is more well written, our MC here is still great).
For the extra stuff, the art isn't too horrible. It definitely has some moments, especially in the last episode or two, but overall it isn't bad. The important part is the girls are drawn cute, and the facial expressions are done right! The sound also was pretty decent, and I enjoyed it a lot. It really made certain moments the way they were, like somber moments with fitting music and comedic moments with goofy music - it worked well. As for story, it has pretty good progression in terms of the relationship between the MC and girls. While there is no overarching plot line at the moment beyond their tutoring, we get to watch the girls grow and see how much their relationships improve with the MC, as an entire group of sisters and individually which is, again, very well done.
Overall, I believe this show will surpass many people's expectations. In the end though, it depends on the genres you like most. If you are very picky about romances and are looking for a drama heavy series, then this might not fit the bill (the show does have some drama still). But for what the show presented itself as - a romcom harem - it's done pretty damn well! If you're a fan of harems in general, this is a must watch of course. But beyond that, it was genuinely fun and interesting to see the girls and how they developed compared to episode 1, delving slightly into some sister themes as well as how they handle the MC. Totally recommend the show if a harem romcom is up your alley, hopefully you enjoy it!

The classic story of Romeo and Juliet, modernized into a high school setting just as you would expect out of Japan... except a bit less serious and [spoilers: not ending in them both dying horribly]. This time around, it isn't so tragic and is actually quite funny, while still having some feels and making you attached to the main characters. I'll try to keep the review relatively short, but I'll end up writing a lot like I always end up doing. So. I'll put a TL;DR at the end that sums up my thoughts.
This story follows the two main characters, Inuzuka Romio and Persia
...
Juliet. Here in a high school setting, both characters are leaders of their own groups (? I'm not sure what they're specifically referred to as) called the Black Doggies, and White Cats respectively. In this school, the two groups, made up by the entire student population split between them, are constantly at a "war" trying to show superiority and that they are each the better clan. While not thoroughly explained in the show, it is mentioned how each group has their own views and ideals of the world, hence why they clash (just like politics!).
Anyways, as you would expect, the two groups hate each others' guts, but not in a battle to the death kind of way. This is shown throughout the story with quite funny and entertaining interactions between a lot of the opposing clan members, mainly our main character Inuzuka and anyone else in the White Cats. But as you can expect, there are also some serious parts to it as there are higher ups to the two parties, Inuzuka and Persia being the leaders of only the first years in school. Because of these higher ups, there are very strict rules enforced that can lead to some serious parts and an overlooming threat, which I personally liked. It gives the show something to progress with, even of only by a tiny bit.
I absolutely loved the interactions between the characters, and this is what personally gave the show most of it's enjoyment. Inuzuka is not the typical "badass, never emotional" male lead, and is extremely soft/girly when it comes to Persia which makes for lots of comedic moments. Even the side characters interactions are all very funny, giving it a lighthearted feel to sit back and watch without too much worry of something horrible happening (even though it does get some serious moments).
The art is really good and I didn't see too many issues with the animation, if any at all. All the girls are cute, so bonus points to that :D (Char best girl). The story flowed pretty normally, and for the most part didn't seem rushed until the end like you would expect from most 12 episode/1 cour animes. But I don't fault them for it, it didn't feel super off or anything out of place, and wraps the show up nicely (but don't expect a conclusive ending of course!)
The show definitely has a couple flaws, one of my biggest gripes being Persia's character portrayed as a bit... bland. She is super cute and everything, but she didn't seem to stand out as someone extremely interesting. We get a little backstory to her throughout, her main motives and the like, but nothing too crazy. Just average, which is perfectly okay; my point is to not expect much else from the average main girl in an anime. Inuzuka is a fantastic MC in my opinion however, and helps carry their relationship very much so.
Even though I mentioned Persia being a bit bland, she is still a lovable/entertaining character along with the rest of the cast in my opinion. Basically everyone gets humorous moments, a little bit of development for our main two along with a couple of other side girls, and makes for nice progression from start to finish.
As for the story, it isn't anything to write home about. I do really enjoy the high school setting, especially broken up between the two different clans constantly butting heads. It leads for a lot of interesting moments and interactions between characters of the same party, as well as opposing ones. With that being said however, there is no sort of revolutionary moment or turning point in the show, and doesn't really make much progression in any aspects besides the romance.
TL;DR: The show is very entertaining, but maybe not for the reasons you would expect. It isn't some dramatic, action packed romance of lovers who are separated because of the clans they grew up in. While it does have a bit of drama, action, and a good amount of romance, it also is blended with a lot of comedy and more lighthearted situations. That's why overall I'll give it an 8; I definitely had a few minor complaints with the story and some characters, but it was thoroughly entertaining regardless of those few issues. I didn't rate it higher because it wasn't anything outstanding, but was still enjoyable for what it presented. If you're looking for a romance anime that is a good comedy with some serious moments, then I'd say give it a shot. It's only 12 episodes, and I found myself excited to watch the next episode from start to finish.
[This is my first review in a very, very long time so.. I hope I didn't blabber on too much. I feel like I may have strayed at times a little bit, but overall got my thoughts written down. Hopefully it helped you make a decision!]

So I just finished this show today, and I am going to give you guys (and girls) a rating for each aspect of the show, and then I will give an overall review at the bottom.
Story: 8
The story was quite enticing, and it always left me wondering what would happen next, and it always stayed true to the main character's goal, Raishin, fighting along side his partner, Yaya. There were really no filler episodes, as each episode had some sort of meaning or foreshadowing that led into future episodes. There was also a lot of action, and the fighting scenes were very well done and
...
portrayed Raishin's abilities very well.
Art: 9
Not much to say here, I just loved the art in the show. It looked very new and refined, the colors were very good, but the only issue I would have is that the "3D" look of the dragon, Sigmund, got a little funky sometimes, but it wasn't a huge issue. Very good, better than expected and looked very new.
Sound: 8
The sounds were amazing in this show. It had it's own effect for each puppet/character, and it gave the show and the characters a really unique feel. Sometimes there would be parts in fights where there was minimal sound with a lot going on, but it was made up for with lots of other fighting sounds in other fighting scenes, along with regular sounds in just normal scenes.
Character: 8
Mainly all of the characters were very well developed, and each character had their own unique sense to display who they really were. We got a lot of backstory on all of the main characters like Charl, Frey, Henri, partly Yaya, and a good amount of Raishin. My only complaint would be that I wish there was more backstory on Raishin, because even though his background DOES affect the plot quite a bit, I wish we got to see more about it other than this one specific scene that happens a few times over. Not a major thing though, as it still made his character very well developed. I won't go into too much detail about each character as I don't want to risk spoiling or ruining the experience for anyone. However, I CAN say that it is a someone romance/harem kind of aspect a good amount of the times that aren't during fights. It doesn't ruin the show for me, honestly, because it is made up with the main character not wanting to be a part of a harem, and also with all the fighting scenes and the main characters insane brains to get himself out of any situation.
Enjoyment: 8
I really enjoyed watching every episode. There were no fillers, so you can watch each episode with reassurance that at least SOMETHING that happens will eventually be brought up in the next episode. I really loved all the characters, especially Yaya, and they just made the show that much funnier and more action packed.
Overall: 8
Overall, this show was a very fun show to watch. Every episode had some meaning to the plot, it always had lots of funny moments, but it knew how to transition to action and more serious scenes quite well. The show really stood out to me, as it was quite different from other shows I've seen, and it really was a blast to watch. I loved watching each character interact with each other, some jealous, some more Tsundere, along with all the plot and development. In the end, it all came together for an amazing show that I REALLY hope will turn into a season 2. Fantastic show, I would definitely recommend watching it if you are into: A powerful main character (not OP), a romance/harem (not what the story is mainly about, but still present quite often), a whole bunch of unique characters, and comedy that happens all over the place.
**Thank you for reading my review, and let me know if there was anything I could have done better, this is my very first review!
