Zankyou no Terror

Both of these animes feature strong psychological themes with MCs who try to save the world through unconventional means. All the Mcs change their mindset as they experience more, and it changes both for better and for worse. This direction depends on the viewer's own personality. Death Note involves supernatural themes and focuses on the change of one's mindset when one gains power which far exceeds the scope of humanity. The MC coincidentally picks up the power to determine one's death in physical form and is driven to use it to erase all "bad" humans. Throughout his journey, his sense of justice starts to get warped and causes many occurrences. Zankyou no Terror has two MCs, both of which have experienced many events up until the present day. By day, they are your typical high school students studying for their future opportunities. By night, they are terrorists who try to eliminate the corrupt aspects of politics and other parts of modern society. They try to maintain their sense of justice, but face various challenges to their ethical and moral grievances.

Grand Blue
|
Both are comedic anime, perfect for getting a good laugh at the end of the day. With each of them having characters with unique and interesting quirks, never a day goes by without some random and stupidly dumb events occurring. Grand Blue is probably more age-restricted, as it contains content not suitable for younger children (such as drinking, nudity (censored) and suggestive ideas). However, this anime would definitely not be complete without such idiotic themes. It creates a large part of the plot and sets up the scene for many situations. Saiki Kusuo has some supernatural elements and is a crucial factor in its own right. The plot surrounds a unique character who is born in a completely ordinary family, yet was special from birth, having possessed superpowers. It is these superpowers as well as the people he is surrounded by which creates a vast plot and stupidly funny scenes.

Happy Sugar Life
|
Both of these anime relate to the dark side of human nature, a twisted form of love and jealousy. The theme known as love is surrounded by other concepts and emotions, each inexplicably tied to each other. Happy Sugar Life is much darker and shows the more recessive parts of human nature which are usually hidden. Love in this particular anime is twisted into a more possessive, materialistic kind of relationship. It also contains themes of horror and violence. The MC's interpretation of "love" is much more possessive, much like the notion of "finders keepers". Kuzu no Honkai focuses more on jealousy. The main theme which surrounds this anime is unrequited love. With two main characters of opposing genders each facing their own unrequited love, they find comfort in each other, confiding in each of their darkest secrets. Hatred is sometimes also shown, as well as numerous facades and the consequences of such.

Kakegurui

Both of these fantastic anime relate to psychology and shows fantastic character development, especially in Tokyo Ghoul. Both do deal with relationships, with Tokyo Ghoul focusing more on what constitutes as a friend, while Kakegurui emphasises the different forms a relationship can take. However, these two animes have major differences. Firstly, Tokyo Ghoul is much more unrealistic than Kakegurui as it contains supernatural elements. It is also a more action-oriented anime, whereas Kakegurui deals with human nature and relationships more. Kakegurui also has 2 MCs; one which is the instigator of almost all the events and one who is more dragged into the situation. Tokyo Ghoul focuses more on how a person's mindset changes depending on the events and stresses they experience, while Kakergurui emphasises the dark side of human nature: greed, fear and desire.

Gakusen Toshi Asterisk

As both are slightly fan-service anime, they both feature a seemingly ordinary male MC (surrounded by females with varying qualities) who turns out to be rather special. Both of these anime do feature action scenes, mainly with sword-fighting and other fictional elements such as magic. Both are set in modern times; however, Gakuen Toshi Asterisk features a much more futuristic setting. Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry has a more realistic view on the world, minus the special effects and such. The MC of Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry is also more "monogamous", though it does feature some questionable relationships. It also has more shonen elements, such as the idea of determination leading one to achieve their goals.

Handa-kun
|
Both of these comedic anime have a main character who everyone admires and is popular throughout. as comedy/slice of life anime, they both can give you a good laugh to unwind. In terms of plot, Handa-kun shows a slightly different twist as the MC believes that he is looked down upon and despised by all his fellow peers, whereas in Sakamoto desu ga the MC knows and acknowledges the fact that he is popular.
