So I was a big fan of Overlord when it came out and while the animation budget went all over the place from spectacular to half decent, the story still intrigued me.
But, something is starting to bother me more and more.
The novelty of it has worn off and showed us the ugly side of the show.
It is just boring and predictable. You don't feel any sense of achievement when Ainz takes over or does something 'incredible' by the standards of the 'in setting people'. More and more I'm starting to question, what's the point of any of this? Just steamroll across the world with the

This show is quite unique and I know I have to do it and I will also do it in a funny way.
This anime is about an epidemic, that may very well be going right now, or should I say will not end in 2030. The virus has mutated while visiting Venice and now transforms people into monstrous animals, not the kind that will buy all the toilet paper , but literal monsters that seek to kill, infect and spread the disease. Yet... this is not even the worse part about these monsters, nay... they are much worse than that, because they... directly attack your eyeballs ...

The first episode really intrigued me, a goody two shoes detective comes to a rotten and corrupted city of thieves and scum, a classic detective noir setup. Throw in some monsters that want to become humans and I was sold. The problems started to appear in ep. 2, a really ok episode about Bella, yet two glaring issues from this episode will haunt this anime till finish I think.
One beeing the sometimes goofy and totally out of place henchman or monster that will leave confused and sometimes wondering if you aren't watching some other anime. The second beeing that you can clearly ...

Well what can I say that others have not said, this show is made by combining two things, the comedy aspect that springs from the show's absurdity and more importantly from it's story that somewhat mirrors the show. It knows that it is an idol show that wants to break away from it's niche audience and it tries really hard to be a great anime or atleast a very good one and it fails in some places, if you look at it with a critical eye but like the girls in the show it tries and tries again until it succeeds and I cannot help

While the first season of Log Horizon was good in general,the second one is a mix of moments of brilliance and failures. The show still manages to have a diverse cast of characters and make almost each one of them feel important and it also touches on some deep subjects like people feeling stuck in Elder Tale and wanting to return home to their loved ones or the sentiment of purpose episode 10 being especially noteworthy for any who played an mmorpg.
That being said the show has it's downfalls especially as you get to the end, it starts to shower you with childlike ideals and ... |
