Grave of the Fireflies was the first movie that ever made me cry, and it’s a story that has stayed with me ever since. The film has such a profound emotional depth, and it’s based on a real-life story of the Japanese experience before and after the firebombing of Kobe during World War II. Watching Seita's heartbreaking struggle to find food and shelter for himself and his younger sister, Setsuko, is incredibly difficult to witness. I don’t have many words for this anime besides ‘amazing’! It captures how hate ultimately leads nowhere, and that’s something I think we can all learn from. The character development is incredible, especially Thorfinn’s journey. He goes from seeking revenge for his father’s death to eventually reaching the realization, ‘I have no enemies.’ It’s such a powerful transformation. The side characters also played a big part in making this anime what it is, and I can’t overlook how much they added to the story.

Many people had recommended this series to me, and I’m so glad I finally gave it a watch. It was absolutely worth it! The animation is on another level—it’s visually stunning, with a perfect mix of fun, action, and emotional depth. The series really stands out for its creativity and execution. Honestly, the hate is too much. I understand why people don't like it but they seem to forget that the main protagonist is supposed to be a perverted introvert. When you think about it the series wouldn't be any good if he didn't act how he acts.
