An anime about multiple Virtual Reality MMO's. Here are some thoughts about Sword Art Online. I reference the description so there are not really any spoilers.
If you aren't interested in my wordy review, there's a breakdown below.
It's a Philosophical and psychological delve into other virtual worlds. "Diving" as it's called in the series. A very interesting experience that plays upon advanced Virtual Reality, but not so advanced that it couldn't theoretically be done in the future. So what happens when people get trapped in the Virtual Reality and death in the game is equivlient of dying in life?
You get some intense half-hour episodes, thats
...
what! Haha
Seriously though, There is a lot going on, and it's really easy to keep track of everything across the episodes which was really nice.
Unfortunately, the overall concept isn't new. In fact, some of the main story the core of nearly every Rom Com out there. Plus being an anime about an MMO i find similarities between this and .Hack. And there's always the main character being a Hero thing.
But those are things that you can say about almost everything and especially about anime.
Anyway now that you've read this far, you probably realize I like the series.
Here's the breakdown
Story: 10
Why?
VRMMO's make me excited.
The world was built wonderfully.(ie no plot holes)
Time was believable, despite skipping over months/levels at a time
An above average action/Rom Com story with some nice twists.
Art: 8
Why?
Wonderfully designed.
Great style.
Above average character designs and Layout/Background designs
- About average Animation.
Sound: 10
Why?
If i want to own the soundtrack at the end of a series, i usually give it a 10.
I also like the "fantasy" sounding music, it helps the overall illusion.
Character: 10
Why?
Lots of characters with different personalities but easy to keep track of them.
Fun cliche's that are standard to pretty much any anime.
Enjoyment: 10
Why?
This may end up going on my top favorites. There were some great things here.
Overall: 10
Why?
I liked the series, very fun and lovable characters.
Other reasons-See above

One of the first comments said to me as i showed this show to a friend, "Its like a cool grownup version of Digimon." I laughed because of some similarities I even showed it to another friend of mine who still enjoys Digimon, and he loved it, but its far more than that.
C makes you think. What is future? What defines the present?
Its about time, and money, its about relationships, and potentially love (i not really sure, it hasn't gotten there just yet) But its also about cause and effects, The smallest action can have a catastrophic change in the future.
Its deep, well at
...
least so far. Sometimes the relationships help you realize that its not always about the physical power or just winning. The relationships that develop between the characters can be deep, but also conflicting, its hard to explain but understandable once you see it. Despite the lacking description you can always feel an assets power despite them looking or acting innocent.
So far, up to episode 9 everything has been tied together to give such an interesting experience.
The visual effects are good, and the characters, they are very memorable.
The sound was average, i didn't mind it, it fits well, and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything remarkable either.
Give it a shot!? I highly recommend it, and I doubt you'll be disappointed. :)

Biased opinions aside.(as this is my favorite manga/anime series)
I would like to say that I lent my friends this manga, and they don't read anything 18+ because of their own personal choosing.
I was still able to convince them to read the First volume as long as i stickynoted/censored all of the Mild Nudity, or anything that was in the least bit suggestive.
So i did, and after 10 minutes of "censoring" the first volume, and about 3 seconds of "censoring" the second. They decided to read it.
After reading the first novel they almost didn't want to read the second, I convinced them otherwise, and they both
...
finished the second volume by the next day, saying that they liked the second one a lot more than the first, and would continue reading it.
-----
On to the Review(This is somewhat loosely based off of me watching the anime as well, but there are no spoilers, and the manga is almost a direct translation of the anime).
Story 10: The story is original. The world's setting and style, is just one that isn't seen or touched upon much in anime. Its also very realistic, other than Holo being a Wolf-Deity, The rest of the world seems extraordinarily real and active.
Art 10: I really enjoyed the art, and even the "Mild Nudity" is more like the kind of stuff you would see in a college figure drawing class rather than anything overly explicit. After the initial volume, there isn't anything to worry about, if you are even concerned about that kind of stuff at all.
Character 10: My favorite part about the entire story is Holo and Laurence. Holo is a "Wise" wolf. Laurence is a intelligent merchant, not so much of a ladies man, but Holo makes up for that for being the female equivalent and poking fun at Laurence's inexperience.
Enjoyment 9.75: I had to give this one a -0.25 deduction. My friends had a point, the first volume was really over the top in explicitness, and even though i didn't mind myself, it slightly brings the manga into the realm of adult/late-teen reading. Because of that, i wasn't able to share this with all of my friends without explaining why they should skip the first volume, or the first episode in the anime if they didn't want to see any mild nudity.
Overall 10: This is my favorite anime series, the characters are just brought to life, and the world is so active, that it brings the fantasy into a quasi-reality due to the historical references. I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the manga.
Final note: If you haven't read it yet, or if you haven't watched the anime series, please do so now, you won't regret it. :)

Speaking from episode 16, i felt that this anime needed another perspective.
What I Like:
I like the entire "Partner" ideal, and how the characters develop as the story goes along. It is similar to other anime such as Shakugan no Shana, Fate Stay Night, and Pandora Hearts, but it has own originality, suspense, fighting, and story.
What i dislike:
It has some overused anime cliche's when dealing with the romance, and the "Weak guy" + "Awesome girl" setup similar to the anime i listed above.(I wouldn't mind the character setup as much, as long as the weak guy learns to fight as
...
well).
-----Review Ratings-----
Story: 9
It deserves a 9 because there are some points that entirely focus on fighting, instead of character development, and although the character development isn't effected in this manor, it still takes away from the story.
Art:10
The first episode i watched seemed a little fast paced, but the camera angles, and art styles were beautiful. On occasion, Kuro will make an unrealistic face, but its so rare, that its barely worth mentioning.
Sound: 8
The music is there. It picks up before a fight, and calms down before any sort of disagreement or slightly romantic scene, it is very well mixed into the anime where i don't suddenly jump out and notice that the music is distracting, or is "off" in any way, but its not an entirely epic soundtrack.
Character:9
I love some of the new anime stereotypes I've been noticing, and the anime has a similar character development style to others I've been watching recently but the villains so far are awesome, Twists on the " seemingly good guy slaughtering his clan" and the "Good guy turned bad"
Enjoyment:10
This show kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Its a little predictable, but it keeps my mind moving from subject to subject, always keeping me thinking about what is going to happen next.
Overall:46/50
Its an great series to watch, especially if you liked other similar series, or if you are just looking for something interesting.

This anime was absurdly amazing... I can't tell you how many times i laughed out loud while watching this...
The focus of this anime is to make you laugh... it takes a leap into the fantasy elements, and because of this, its somewhat unrealistic, but insanely funny. The character's are unique, and consistent. It is defiantly a romantic comedy... with very much focus on the comedy.
I can't rate this anime according to Story, Art, etc...the entire focus was on the humor... the art, music, humor, sound effects etc.
They were all build around making people laugh. I could say the story had a 9... or the art was
...
a little funky at times, but it wouldn't matter...
The humor gets a 10... thus it accomplished its goal of being funny... and things like art, and character development become less of an issue.
I give it one score:
Overall-10
It was a great and funny fantasy.Well worth the time to watch.
