If you want to escape reality, turn your brain off and want to watch a random nobody isekai'd to another world to have all his dreams suddenly become true due to... reasons I guess... this show isnt for you. Characters dont get cheat skills through a goddess, or chance upon a op sidekick for them to solve everything. There are consequenses to their actions.
Mc and his party have to earn everything through hard work, study and sometimes emotional trauma. Nothing, not even main cast themselves are to be taken for granted. You watch their friendship take roots, like and dislike each other through events.

The show doesn't throw the members of the party in your face and expects you to accept them as "nakama" due to silly anime reasons. It is really satisfying to watch the thief, dark knight, wizard, priest etc to grow into their roles and learn or sruggle to, work together.
They fight tooth and nails to subdue lone goblins, which are also given emotions and characteristics. The art is unique and interesting, goblins look different from each other, kobolds are very realistic and scary. The party truly have to fight for their lives, and do not dismiss the enemy's will to survive either. Characters get scared, love each other, deal with sorrow, death and depression. It truly shows how a group of normal people would fare if they were in a fantasy setting where the means to survive is via adventuring or monster hunting. Their daily activities of cooking, bathing, washing clothes etc are all given great detail and time enough to be realistic. They look at the gorgeous background - believe me animators cooked with how pretty everything looks- and contemplate their lives, choices. Those scenes at times could become too slow however, which is my only gripe with the anime and why its not a 10. Dont get me wrong though, there is a lot of great action with excellent animation that keeps the viewer on the hook, I was on the edge of my seat to see how they would save themselves from the prediciment.
If you are a DnD or fantasy fan, enjoy great dialogue, can take a bit of a slow burner but are tired of bullshit ways characters get op for no reason whatsoever in trash isekai shows, you will greatly appreciate this anime. I gave it a 9 because it felt like a hidden gem,
and cant wait to have a 2nd season. I hope we do.
