It might be that my mind is in the gutter, but I swear I'm not crazy when I tell you that this is actually a cozy slice-of-life that somehow ends up BL-adjacent. I'm here for it, but you might not be so let me summarize:
As other reviews mention, the "main girl" is absolutely window dressing and the whole cast is there just to get MC out of his shell and lift his mood up with the only meaningful conflict and resolution of the emotional baggage happening with a male coworker.

Moreover, the story does not deliver on the severity of the situation of the premise. Bad ... if you wanted something deep, good if you just wanted the slice-of-life experience.Also don't give much weight to the "adult cast" tag, the main characters behave as immature as in other anime (and the main girl is barely an adult even oficially). I'm actually suprised it doen't have a comedy tag, considering the amusing situations are the core of most episodes.

That's it. That's the whole anime just with fishing edutainment picked for the theme.
A must watch only for those who daydreamed of adopting a doomer boyfriend who'd actually value your time together and didn't disengage, waiting for the dreamy hunk who'll never appear.

The quick way to find out if you're gonna like the series is to watch the first ep. of the anime, but to summarize in a few points and disclaimers:

You might like it, if:
- you like shounen series that get dark, quickly, but don't dwell on it for long
- you like a bit of dark comedy and body horror
- look for a story where the MC isn't the typical resolute and optimistic moralist, but has a much more stoic, yet empathetic... "lawful neutral" feel in DnD terms
- you like stories with ambiguous allegiances (thanks to one character in particular).

You might dislike, if:
- you don't like ... toilet humour and crude jokes
- you don't like characters which are supposed to be charmingly stupid (most of the cast)
- if you've read too many shounen series to care about another "collect the things and defeat the bad person" story
- if you're looking something with a deeper story than your average shounen. The darker parts of the story are still just entertainment and not "food for thought." At least in my opinion.

I think it'd be pretty appropriate to do a short review summarizing the main divide of opinion on this anime.

This isn't an anime for those who seek a good mystery and like to theorize about the possible resolutions to problems the "detectives" face. The mysteries might as well be only a prompt for the characters to live around, being the fanciest they can. It's not at all meant to be realistic in any way, starting with the characters and ending with the solutions to the cases, which come mostly out of left field.

This is an anime (obviously catered to women, not a specific age demographic) ... to take you on a an elaborately dressed ride, entertaining you with some fun dialogue and silly situations which inevitably result in a poetic monologue with a line that's supposed to make you go "Ha! Got'em!" before the mic drops to the floor.

If you're not OK with that, just vibe to the opening and move to greener pastures elsewhere.

PS: It's NisioishiN and underage characters, of course there are some moments where you really want to make sure the door's locked.
