Alright. I loved watching it. It is a one-of-a-kind anime which maybe comes closest qua atmosphere to Steins;Gate
Story: A cute girl want to help a shut-in to get rid of his agoraphobia. Meanwhile, he tries to complete a game with his neighbour.
The shut in slowly progresses with both, sometimes having huge draw-backs.
Still, there is something fishy about that girl.
I figured out what the rest of the story would be at the end of the island arc and I knew exactly every step Misaki (I love that name) would take after that. I didn't expect it to be that predictable. Not only that: her behavior is
...
not part of the climax, it IS the climax.
Also, the level marketing arc was predictable, unnecissary, and the characters seemed so incredibly dumb compaired to their behavior in the rest of the series.
But still: a 7/10 is nothing to be ashamed about
Art: Yes. This is bad. Misaki is cute and stuff, but it is pretty boring. Not only that, there are also some extremely badly animated parts, especially at the end of the marketing arc and when they shop in Tokyo. How could this ever pass on tv and how didn't this ever get fixed for dvd? This is something they SHOULD be ashamed of. Still, the good scenes were generally not bad, but it is not good enough:
4
Sound:
I love their voices! Misaki sounds so cute! Yamazaki = shinpachi, and Satou also has an amazing voice. The intro was very addictive, the first one, at least. The second one was the guitar version, but I liked that one a little less because it just 'wasn't right' after the first one. Also, I loved the first ending. Kenji Ohtsuki (known from most sayonara zetsubou sensei openings) made one of the best endings ever. His rare raw voice is one of the best things to come out of my speakers, ever!
9/10
Character:
Like I said, the plot is completely about character development, which is done almost perfectly. Only the character development of one of the side characters was a little iffy, but if you take it as a whole... wow! It is almost done too good because I figured out the plot in no time because of this.
Enjoyment:
Great jokes, fun until the end, good timing, great sounds. This all added up to a great enjoyment. Only the art was sometimes so bad that it really annoyed me until it became better.
8/10
Overall:
I usually don't give a crap about the art, but it was especially bad this time. Still, I accuse the story of being too lacking at the end. This is why I don't give it a 9, but a
8/10
Just watch it. It is a legendary anime and a milestone in psychological anime.
It is the last anime to breathe the 'paranoia agent', 'lain' and 'boogiepop' atmosphere and it is the bridge between the older psychological anime and the newer ones.

Story: [10/10]
The story is amazing. Light and Ryuk both think their world is rotten so they try to make it better. Ryuk escapes his world and looks for entertainment on earth by dropping a notebook. The best entertainment he could wish for, Yagami Light, picks up the book. This is when one of the biggest geniusses on earth starts to make that world a place worth for a god to live in... by killing criminals! Of course that makes him a criminal himself in the eyes of the law and the police and detective L. Light searches for L and L searches for Light, both
...
to stop them. As they are both invincible since nobody knows anything about them, desperate needs lead to desperate deeds.
I found myself a few major plot holes, but I just think of that as "That person wasn't smart enough to do that" but it really was searching for them and almost as hard to find as L for Light and visa versa.
Art: [10/10]
Simply the best art I've ever seen in manga, shonen at least.
Characters: [9/10]
Light and L both have my deepest respect. L is extremely cool besides his lack of social skills and Light is exactly how I would imagine an insanely smart person with that kind of book. He acted in most cases how I would act.
the -1 is because of the position of women in this series: they are all relatively dumb and half of them is used. They also all fall for light like autumn leaves as if they have no mind on their own. Besides that: the heroine is very annoying.
Enjoyment: [10/10]
This is the part of the review I wanted to write the most:
This manga challenged me mentally and logically. It made me question moral and death and it learned me to look at things differendly: more conciderately. The only other manga's/anime's that accomplished this so far are Liar Game and Akumetsu, but none of them was as strong as Death Note.
Overall: [10/10]
Why are you still reading this review instead of Death Note?

This anime isn't for anybody. The people who enjoy this series most are the people with two or more cats. People with no cats don't understand it while people with cats can easily recognise their own cat in Kuro or Poyo.
Poyo is a cat that is perfectly round. He's a typical caricature of a lazy tomcat. His best friend is Kuro. He is a more active and slightly dumber tomcat from their neighbour.
The strong point of the series is the slight exaggeration of normal cat behavior. Non-cat owners would think:"What is this all about?" while cat-owners think:"My cat does that too! It's so
...
cute!"
You can clearly see the writer of this series understands cats and wants to tell us who adorable they are in the funniest way possible.
It's a shame that the episodes are pretty short, but that is probbably one of the stronger points. You wouldn't be able to keep track of what dafuq is happening if it would go on for 20 minutes.
WARNING: this series contains cat-yaoi

I love the anime:
At the beginning of every arc, everything seems so peaceful and lovely!
Then, dramatic evenents occur (almost always after the festival) and something goes horribly wrong.
At the climax, it's always bloody and you are enjoying the spiny story as well as the blood and corpses here there and everywhere.
There are a lot of anime's that are about mystery. Some are good, some are less.
There are also anime's just for the gore, most of them don't really have a story
Higurashi combines one of the best mystery's with awesome violence!
Story: 10
It's one hell of a story and you won't get it until
...
the last episodes. I think only one out of ten people that watch only the first season will know what is happening. The story is also very confusing but it doesn't contradict itself, that is what makes it that great. It's also about a demon you don't get to see: very mysterious
Art: 5
I love how the faces are drawn and I think Shion has the best hair ever. I specially like the way everybody's (especially Rika's) face is drawn from the side, but then: look at the body of them: that isn't even human anymore? Low budget or short on time? It must have had a reason for doing it that poorly
Sound: 7
GREAT opening: you get in the mood instantly! At the beginning of the series, the voice acting was done very poorly, but it slowly became better and at the last arc, you won't even notice a difference with a normal anime. I never listened to the ending theme so I cannot judge that: I instantly wanted to watch the next episode
Character: 10
They were all done very good.
I really like how the twins became the way they are now and Rika is soooo great!
Enjoyment: 10
Every second there was something else you could enjoy: The funny jokes, the gezelligheid, the spalshing blood, the difficult story, the horror, the nipa, the mi!!

Story: 6
The beginning was great, psychological, solid and little confusing, but still good enough to understand.
Then it went wrong from the moment Yuu made Mato sleep. It was confuzing until the last episode, that's what I liked, but there was too much symbolism. The story started to go about how everybody is that stupid bird and how the whole other world revolves around that f*cking bird!
what a cliché Hollywood ending! Seriously horrible! I still gave it a 6 because I liked the first part very very much. That was deep, touching and insane. In the second part, there were suddenly 4 worlds and only
...
two made sense. And what was with that teacher wanting to kill mato?
Art: 7
I was kinda displeased because I didn't really like it as much as the OVA, but you'll get used to it
Sound: 9
BEST IN-ANIME SOUND TRACKS EVER!!
They only lost the point because of the OP and ED. Don't get me wrong, I like Miku Hatsune, but this just seemed experimental. It sounded like nothing.
Character: 7
Mato is a whine baby, just like Yuu. Black Rock Shooter was not as good as I expected, but I liked all the other characters, especially Kagari (I also love her name)
Enjoyment: 7
It's a feast for the brain, and that's something I love! I want an anime to make me think about things but it should still make sence. That last part stopped in the second part. Than I thought: 'what would they mean with that? oh... shame... next!' over an over again. Though, I enjoyed the fighting parts very much (except for the last fight, screw that!)
Overall: 6
Just what the hell went wrong?
If you like touching symbolism, you should watch this because this has a massive overkill of that. If you like action, it has few of the best action scene's ever and it is greatly animated, but don't do it for that, you'll just get bored.
It was nice having seen this anime, let's never speak of it again.

story: 6
This anime is clearly about the concept, not the story, but it sure isn't bad so far
art: 8
I really like how it's drawn.
sound: 7
The opening is very addictive, but the ending isn't that special. Maybe a nice elevator song
Characters: 9
I think sora is quite annoying: she likes the 'godfather' but because of that, she's scared of him. He has no idea what's going on and that's a little annoying. I love the other characters. Hina is very bright for her age. I like she's not some kind of dumb baby that only cries. Miu is annoying to everybody but that is very funny. She
...
acts exactly her age.
The best character of them all is Raika. She's very weird but likeable anyway. Very original
Enjoyment: 7
It has a lot of nice jokes and everything fits right
Overall: 7

Story: 9
I really love the story, and -spoiler- the storyline gets exponentially more complicated and I really like that. The mediocre 'me = best ninja and my friend ran away, I must get him back' changed to some masterminds with mindf*ck plans that actually make sense! If you're a kid, you won't get what happened after the first arc with Sai.
Art: 1
It's not exactly the art, it's the animation. It's like they don't care if the animation is any good. They slagged off with the starting of shippuden and I really can't give a higher grade than an 1
Sound: 5
It had some great OP and
...
ED's, especially bacchoi!! I really like most of the voices. Some of them are anoying, like sakura, but in general it's quite good.
Character: 6
I dislike a lot of them. A lot of them are just annoying, like sakura, but there are some characters who are just epic wins! I would like to praise Itachi, Deidara, Jiraiya, Pain, Shikamaru, Hinata and Kiba.
Enjoyment: 7
Despite the lack of good animation and annoying voices and characters, this anime has a lot of great jokes and some characters just make you laugh, no matter what.
Overall: 7
I would give it 8 if the animation was ANY good

Story: 6
most of them are good stories, but they just all go way too fast. It misses the drama.
Art: 4
Very outdated, but it is very old. I just hate how people walk in the beginning of the series. Everything is too cartoony
character: 8
I really like how Ruuichi is almost in every story the main character. You really grow attached to him
Enjoyment: 8
...
I really enjoyed it. I just think every story should have been a 50 page story instead of 30
Overall: 7
I think this will work better as an anime than as a manga.
I liked the stories Okuchin's unwelcome guest and the crater best. I give them both an 8

Story: 8
It was a little bit weird, but very enjoying. I didn't really like the middle part with katou, but I'll just forget that. I liked how the start (messing-up first time lover) ended up that psychological and horrific. I would have given the anime a 9 if the "school fair" wasn't included. The final half of the last episode was so sudden. I first thought it was kotonoha who would strike first.
Art:
10
I really liked it. It was amazing! The perfect art for a Seinen series.
Sound:
9
If the OP and ED were better, I would have given it a 10, but they just weren't.
...
I really liked the background music, especially the last two episodes. They were just mind blowing
Characters:
6
Just what the f*ck was the main character thinking? Biggest jerk in the universe! And katou wasn't helping much as well. I disliked how much Katou resembled Sekai in art. Setsuna was too selfish for the silent character she is and everybody was messed up. I actually only liked Taisuke and Kotonoha, especially at the end.
Enjoyment:
I really enjoyed it. Psycho Kotonoha made my day. It was thrilling with a lot of good cliffhangers at the end of every episode. The story never became boring (though, it wasn't always the best it could be)
Overall:
8
I think people who dislike this are a bunch of seinen-cliché hippies that aren't open to this anime. This is NOT a love anime. There simply is NO romance Get the f*ck over it!

Story: [10/10]
Since I would give Death note (my previous favoriet manga) an 9, I would be akumetsu'd if I wouldn't vote a 10 xD It really looks a lot like Death Note in some ways. It's just a bit more mature since it is going deep into the gouvernment of japan and sometimes it's hard to follow, but you would catch it up sooner or later within the manga. Especially the end is surprising. Even with a mayor plot twist far before the ending (2 volumes), It's still not know what would actually happen in the last few chapters. Akumetsu kept surprising me.
Art: [8/10]
Very
...
good, but sometimes you forget it's a manga and some of the fighting scenes are very messy
Character: [10/10]
JUST LOVE SHOU LIKE HE LIKES CATS!
Being a terrorist and staying funny isn't that easy, but it's possible. Shou's proof
Enjoyment: [9/10]
sometimes I was drifting off because it was a little bit too hard, but I really enjoyed myself. Especially at the end. Sometimes the scenes are messy, but at the end it's always clear what happened. I just hate that, at the end of every chapter, Ametsu-kun gave spoilers. It pretty much annoyed me.
Overall: [10/10]
Just a must for people who like psychological thrillers and people that really enjoyed Death Note. I think everyone who finished death note a few years ago and think:"nothing can top this" must read this.
It's very strange there still isn't an anime.
