"You don't have to cry" - Ms. Seto
Do you know, how infuriating it is to see someone cry every time you see them? They cry and they cry and all they do is cry. This anime embodies that. I just lost a basketball game so now I am going to cry. I found out that this boy won't be my piano accompanist so now I am going to cry. At first, you find it slightly annoying but tolerable but then it gets to the point where it saps all enjoyment from the show and makes you cringe how terrible it portrays how actual humans act.
...
Nobody cries THAT much my dude.
Besides that, the anime was at best, decent. I'll start with the good. It has good animation and its strongest point, the music and OST. Not gonna lie, the music in this anime is quality and can make perfect music to study in the library. (Not the Chopin BS they played in the concert scenes btw)
Now, the cons. Why do I care about these characters? After finishing this anime, there is absolutely no reason that I found on why I should care about some middle school boy going through his PTSD flashbacks. Much of the same story is revolves around the protagonist constantly struggling to basically "believe in himself", especially during the concert/piano playing scenes. In fact, I hated any scene that had the main character playing piano because barely any plot happened or it was just him talking to himself over and over on the same thing. Its just him repeating that he doesn't believe in himself and then suddenly having an epiphany that he does believe in himself. To be honest, the strongest parts of the anime was when he wasn't playing piano and instead just having a nice conversation with his friends while riding a bike or jumping off a ledge into a river. (Except for the part where they terribly sang twinkle twinkle at night. Like bruh, no. cmon dude. don't do that)
Overall, I heard good things about this anime and came out a bit sad. The storyline was simple and had no "the plot thickens" moments and could easily have been shortened and reduced. Music was great though. Characters were IMO, very 2D, predictable, and had very little character development. I wish I could have enjoyed this anime more but instead, I was laughing because of how much melodrama there was in here. I'd say the strongest part in the anime was near the end but even then, when it tried to be emotional/deep, I was laughing because well, it was emotional in the wrong way lol.
Anyways, that is my two cents and you probably won't agree with me. Just wanted to say that this anime wasn't that good.
