The characters were nicely drawn and some of them were even funny written, but the development of them was not really there. They remained two-dimensional and you did not get to know them much better.
The anime had some parallels to Eminence in the Shadow, but to me it always felt like it stayed way behind. Also, the word-building was not really interesting because you did not get explicit information about the place, the world, the rules, etc.
All in all, you really have to enjoy the genre of "somehow overpowered by dumb luck (but in reality underpowered) main character" anime...

The anime is a mixed bag of feelings, some things are really good and others are mediocre at best.
I really enjoyed the slice of life parts of the anime. It captures the feeling of a VR MMO game with a person who has a real life alongside it. (Especially in the first few episodes, you feel that he is playing a game, but knows that the game can bring him something in his life, be it thoughts or memories). Such a strong first few episodes!
The first episodes are a masterpiece for me, unfortunately the following episodes get much weaker, but should still be a good watch for most! Maybe next season will push it even further *hope*. I felt that each character had a background and reacted accordingly, each with their own style. The animation was also very strong in the first few episodes, suggesting a great opus. It is really heartbreaking that the high quality of the first episodes not only could not be kept up, but for me the anime dropped to a below average level...
