FLCL has been said to be good by a lot of people. When reading Berserk the first three volume weren't to good but once it reached the Golden Age arc it became amazing.

I would probably recommend Monster since its my favourite anime and the story is really amazing. The characters are very realistic and are not 2D. The pacing is slow but that helps the story a lot since it doesn't feel rushed.
