Imagine being over ~35 years in combined age and running away from the girl who has spent years in hopes of marrying you without any dialogue with her or empathetic consideration. If you want to read a story where the MC does that and justifies it as for their mutual good go right ahead with this manga.

Otherwise it's your typical boy genius isekai where the MC grinds from childhood and does broken/innovative things with magic, then goes on to adventure. Same old same old if you want something to waste your time on and don't care about the first point.

I watched this anime due to the high ratings it has been receiving on this website and I can say that it most certainly did not live up to them. Honzuki no Gekokujou is an isekai in which a japanese bookworm gets reincarnated into a sick five year old's body and lives as Myne/Main, the daughter of peasants. One of my primary gripes with this anime is the MCs mental age. Myne is meant to be at least a young adult, but instead acts and thinks like a child with the knowledge of an encyclopedia. Subsequently, she fumbles around social interaction with the emotional ... intelligence of a child, not knowing how to handle her own position.

People are praising this show for changing the isekai formula, but there isn't much substance past that. It's a slice of life show where the MC invents things from the future in a Middle Ages setting, if you enjoy that coupled with some wholesome family and friendship moments, you'll enjoy this. However, saying this show is anything more than a moe primitive technology from Youtube is giving it too much praise. Also, this idea of an MC inventing technology in an isekai is hardly unique to this show, and is handled with more thought in other novels and manga.

There really is none, as I said the MC invents things in a Slice of Life manner while attempting to deal with the illness plaguing the body of Myne, who she spawned into.

Art is good, around what one would expect from a modern anime. Animation is clearly a bit choppy at times, with the budget clearly not reaching Ufotable levels, but show still does a good job conveying the emotions of characters and the mood the author intended to create.

Sound: 9
Quality sound, nothing to complain about especially, not extraordinary either.

This really is the major flaw with this show, most of the characters are extremely shallow and the MCs actions are not what one would expect from one in her position. Myne is incredibly naive and the majority of the world reflects that same design, not testing the limits of her character. Would have made for a more interesting plot if there were characters that truly challenged the mood of the MC and show, but instead it stayed monotonous throughout, the characters interacting in a very fantastical and ideal manner to suite the others desired world. Thus, the characters were very cute but also quite shallow.

Enjoyment: 6
Was a fair waste of 5 hours or so, obviously watching the inventing process and cute relationship interactions was fun, but not anything overly stimulating either. The drama fell flat for the most part, as did the majority of the show, still was a decent time killer however as I had nothing else I wanted to do [Sry government, I'll do my taxes eventually].

... Classic drama centered around the MC's struggle with self-improvement and love. Also, *spoilers*, filled with self-loathing type drama and tragedy. However, the characters are all very realistic and understandable leading to a heavily immersing and empathetic experience. The story, however, though touching and beautiful, just doesn't reach the masterpiece ranking due to its heavy focus on drama and pulling at the heartstrings instead of perhaps more realistic and intricate storytelling. The story just seems to cop out in certain places, still amazing overall.
Art and animation, though great, could be better and less repetitive throughout the series. Sound was obviously 10/10 however. Overall enjoyment has a 9 just because of sloppiness at times, but the final product still causing great emotion and satisfaction.

Pretty much Jap "How I Met Your Mother", but funny as hell and with an otaku MC.

Kinda a drama, which I do not enjoy, but still really interesting and I loved it. One of the best romances and use of technology I've read in manga and its based on a true fuckin story.

Got the message across and either grew on me or got better towards the end. Still a good art style for comedy. Molester-san's expression were too over-the-top and out of context sometimes tho so that kinda pissed me off and unimmersed me.

Characters 10/10
They ... good af, no real unexplained motives, are wraps together. The characters are all lovable and some good parody ones. (Sachiko best girl btw)

Got a bit annoyed with it in the middle, but that's a romance drama for ya. Overall still really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend.

This Rating is only true for the first half of the anime.

The first half of this anime is simply amazing. It is psychological and dark so if your not into that then I don't really recommend it, but if you don't mind or like that you definitely need to see this anime. The character development is really good and even though the ending of the first half isn't happy, it's still good and it made me cry.

As for the second half, it was completely unnecessary. The whole thing made me cry, seriously 0/10. They took away most of the good things from the ... first half and turned the anime into absolute shit. How did such a good anime go so wrong? They continued it. *SPOILERS FROM HERE ON* With a dead love interest and the MC alone what to they add? A stupid fucking loli, seriously! Now with this annoying little shit with him the MC goes on some stupid much less dark quest with the annoying loli which basically sums up that unnecessary second half. You'll understand once you watch, but still the first half is amazing.
