Yup, coming to a new school and eventually meeting trouble by speaking out against the corrupted order (lead by their male interest), and thus the whole school goes against you. Yet, this chaos and bullying only ignites the fire in the heroines' heart, and eventually changes other hearts as well.

Incredibly hilarious reads (I mean rolling-on-the-floor type laughing) that deal with incredibly strong and respected female leads. They kick butt, even moreso than their male counterparts (whether it be Yankees or other gang-related people), and are not afraid to take up a fight. In short, they can't be described by any other word but "incredible". Both mangas have the best artwork, characters, and, of course, comedy, that deserve the utmost recommendation.

Akuma to Love Song

About a girl who went through adversity in her past and comes to change in their new situation. From here, these noble heroines do what they can to change themselves, inspire others, and pull these people into their "inner circle". Both Kyoko and Maria are very admirable to look up to and can be "pure" in their sense of feelings [also can be very straightforward & determined and happen to appeal to frills or fantasy]. They are without parents since early childhood, and are seen facing relentless bullying/torment, but eventually soften these people into friends (including the male leads, both whom first disdained [but not bully] the protagonist until they admired these never-ending efforts). Coincidentally, these male interests had some form of trauma when pursuing fame in their early childhoods, but, thanks to these girls, recover from and are dealing with their past. These two mangas are also brilliant in a literary sense. (i.e.- themes of perception and what we ourselves perceive [Akuma], price of vengeance [SB!], the past that haunts us, sins and beginning anew, etc.). Both stories deserve the upmost regard as they are highly unique and are backed up with the most fantastic art, mind-bending tragedy, and top-notch comedy that, indeed, make them some of the best shoujo mangas out there.

Both wonderful Josei works with a similar sense of romance. Although both do not focus on love (more on their careers really), they are still hilarious reads and amazingly well-done.

Both convey an art style similar to "classic shojo/josei manga" (though Kuragehime is more modern and is merely influenced by it). But other than the occasional art style, both feature a heroine who initially seemed useless, but over time gained her ambition by following her obsession (whether it would be Acting for Glass Mask, or Jellyfish dresses for Kuragehime). And lastly, both feature a highly stylish, rich male who serves as that push or force to the heroine's ambition.

Both plots: pure-hearted heroine being used by a childhood friend, but instead of immediately crying, they lose their innocent character and their strength leaves the guy baffled by hurting him and vowing revenge. She enters his world (Skip Beat- entertainment, Uwasa- soccer) and finds her life much more open and worthwhile than ever before (both are country/island girls coming to the city, but their development comes from following this new world). Love triangles: Both female leads act as a type of healer for the guy tied to his past, warming his cold demeanor with their kind and quirky character (can be even magical at times). At the same time, their skills and determination to excel in this world are encouraged by another (except SB, it's the same person). Although Uwasa no Midori-kun is a lot more.. smutty, both mangas, in a way, have a great romance development that leave the audience wanting more (Or even rooting for both ends of the love triangle).

The inner turmoil and drama within a group of artistic-minded people that can be linked to one thing: unrequited love. Angel Voice is more towards music and the unity of a band, with what seems like unrelenting drama for their group to improve and go to the top. What makes it similar with Honey and Clover is what seems like unrequited love, this realistic longing for a person yet seeing them either in love with someone else or too far to grab hold. The emotions that both manga stir into the reader make it a recommended read indeed.

There was a hilarious reference to Glass Mask in chpt 4 of SDC, so I thought of recommending it. Both mangas do have never-ending drama, so much so that it can feel like you're watching a soap opera :3 Yet, the main female leads never give up in whatever they're doing. Both reads are quite enjoyable in their own ways, often silly but full of drama.

You can learn something about the world (whether history or homosexuals) while laughing at the hilarious comedy. Both are comic-structured and has a good art in their own sense. Hetalia Axis Powers is more popular and should be seen as biographical/nonfiction [because these are personified countries], while Honey & Honey is award-winning as well autobiographical (mangaka is in the lady-lady relationship she draws).

After becoming blacklisted/isolated from the entertainment world, both heroines show their strength and love of acting in order to perform again. They sink from tragedy & depression and learn to rise back to the top. Generally, these mangas are wonderful to read. The main characters are interesting and their dramas will give you twists & turns that you would never expect. It's true that Glass Mask is MUCH longer, but nevertheless, it would still get you hooked just as much as Cat Street.

Expect a nice blend of comedy, drama, and romance from these two stories. Character-wise: The main characters are quite similar--> Both girls first did not like the trouble-making guy (basically because they could control their monkey classroom with just a cold demeanor), so they stand up and eventually try to bring happiness to them. These guys start falling in love with her compassion and doing what they can to protect her. (Moreso for Kodomo than Gakuen Alice, probably because G.A. focuses on more supporting characters) A wonderful girl with a blossoming young love from a boy in the class... Smell the moe-flowers blooming in the air, right? WRONG. Not only do their relationships face amazing drama/tragedy (away from the cute-cute-moe-young-child relationship that was first expected) , but their plots altogether move away from the "same old, same old" story into an awe-inspiring manga. You will laugh, you will cry, and you follow their road seeing what is right & wrong in the world. These characters may appear like cute children, which they look like for the most part, but they also face an difficult path of action and/or reality. Both are these mangas are fully recommended, as they are wonderful stories that would just pull you in. [Although I pointed out the similarities plot-wise, their stories are VERY different & highly original]

Let's see.. starts off with an uncaring kind of guy, the main girl does something to stand up to him (whether it would be for his disrespect or just long hair), and he responds by picking on her. And soon after that turns to love.. Both stories actually go deeper than that, with a girl that would do something you would not totally expect. For Hana Yori Dango, she's strong-willed and determined, which can be said the same for KKwH. Both heroines have an influential aspect, where their love interest is just some cold person that really stands out (really rich guy in Hana Yori Dango versus smart, handsome womanizer in KKH) and would really change their ways once in a relationship with her. Because they both have that drama aspect, their relationships would be on-off. Nevertheless, these two stories can really get you hooked and can be worth the look. (For my comment, whether they're worth the full read or not also depends on the person as they both have mixed reviews).

Both main protagonists are poor while attending an elite school. They are very tough as to being bullied by the classmates of the main guy, but not letting that effect them (as both heroines are strong-willed to their purpose). As a development, other characters are mightly influenced by the main girl, either by her strength or her personality. The main guy first appears cold, suffering from the difficult side of a wealthy background. Love triangles emerge, great drama, good comedy on the side. Although Imadoki! is much shorter, both are amazing stories from the romantic-drama world.

Both have a strong girl being bullied by the main guy, who uses his high popularity to influence others into harming her. Only when she proves those tricks ineffective does he begin to see her in a different light. (It's actually a bit different for Watashi, where the relationship does not start out this way but emerges as part of the story development) For recommendations, not much can be said. Watashi is still too early to tell, but shows wonderful art and story so far; Hana Yori Dango is just full of drama, going along a great story; Both feature love triangles (between the two main guys and the girl). HYD is a longg read, whereas Watashi is still new/ongoing - but my recom. goes towards the beginning psychology of the main guy onto the main girl.

Although both main characters may not have had the greatest childhood, they look more towards their future in show business rather than the past. Cat Street focuses more on the tragedy of the entertainment world onto a child star, with her growing from isolation with the addition of friends; While Skip Beat! looks onto Kyoko's development into fame, gaining friends from her adventures. Both stories feature great heroines, rather than relaying on their past torment to pull them down, they gain strength towards their success. For my comment- Cat Street was a great read, it had many twists I would have never expect and its drama was worth getting into. On the other hand, Skip Beat! is full of comedy, but has its mix of drama as well. These are two wonderful mangas that will give you a similar feeling while reading, and will prove its heartwarming value without disappointment.

Expect a hilarious comedy, with a side dish of drama. Both of these works can make you laugh over and over again, while getting you hooked into re-reading it. The character similarity with the main couple: Main guy with a mysterious background meeting the main girl with an angry side to her. Main guy falls head over heels by teasing her, but at the same time looking at the situation she goes through. Both works really deal with the drama it takes for these two people to get together, but it's definitely worth the read. Another similarity note may be the otaku/anime world satirized in both reads.: Dramacon specifically sets around a "comic-con" (and maybe the freaky people around it, like those who specifically want to read a "manga" and not an american-made comic), while Maid-sama goes in-and-out introducing anime to the main girl (meaning that is a side notice, not really affecting the main-story development). In all seriousness, if you happen to find all 3 volumes of dramacon - it is intended for an +13/older audience, whereas Maid-sama can be for all ages, but both are one of the best romance=comedies you can find out there (with great art to match).

The heroines in these mangas have some similar aspects, having a personality that influences the guys around her to change for the better. Land of the Blindfolded is about the tale of a girl who can see people's future with a touch, and tries to do what she can to help them (and along the way, she meets two other people, one who can see the past and the other who can also see into the future). Fruits Basket follows a story about the curses of people who get turned into chinese-zodiac animals when hugged by the person of the opposite gender. The main girl, Tohru, is practically alone until the cursed people allow her to a place to stay (long story, but ends with the curse lifted. Quite enjoyable.) Both of these stories are highly original. After reading them, they give you a better sense of good morals, mainly thanks to the heroine's inspirational traits. Doing something because you love and care for other people, both mangas bring that side of life and are great reads (also show a nice blend of comedy).

KKJ and Maid-sama main two characters are somewhat similar. The Strong Girl who appears tough, while dealing with some family problems, and does what she can to help others. Then in the first chapter introduces the main guy who, bit by bit, understands what she goes through and does whatever they can to protect her. Sounds like the basic shoujo ideal, right? Ahah... No. It's called recommendation bc it's worth the read. Both mangas have a great meaning to them around this shoujo cliche, while their tragedy and storyline go far to make it really enjoyable.

add

Both are of the same genre- comedy, shoujo, romance, and a bit of fantasy. Vampire Knight deals with vampires, while Fruits Basket deals with the chinese zodiac (and people turning into their animal). Difference being is that VK has a lot more action, while FB has a lighter "slice of life" feeling. But both have a parts of tragedy to it as well. Another may be that VK is definitely a love triangle, whereas Fruits basket only appears as one. Similarities w/ the style-structure between the main three characters: The center of these mangas follow a strong heroine with a good friendship between the other two. One of the guys have the same depressing outlook, with the main girl as one of the only sources of light in their lives (thus falling in love with them). The other guy of the trio appears as the intellectual(maybe a leader-like person) that also has some sort of family-feel connection to the main girl (VK they're *spoiler*,while in FB they Feel like mother-son) It's basically the character similarity that can draw the main attraction, but both mangas are hilarious reads. (Note- FB is much longer and starts out a bit slow, but it is actually quite amazing. On the other hand, VK can have mixed views, but they both can have the same pictorial comedy to them).

Story of a girl coming into a guy's lives and changing them. Both deal with some level of psychology and tragedy that the main guy goes through, but in Mars the main girl has her share as well. Great romance and love developments - both main guys try to remember the past, while the girl helps them through it. Consequently, both main girls are admirable, in the most sense. Although I recommend Mars for an older audience, both are great shoujo mangas that will touch peoples' hearts.

The occasional little devils, evil aura, and humor in general are all similar. Even the characters seem repeated from the mangaka's earlier work (TCP) and later work (Skip Beat!). Main character stays the same, the "Ren" & "Shou" characters in the guys love triangle seem switched, and the secondary love triangle (on the girls side) from the blonde girl is not as serious (from TCP, she turns out much younger in Skip Beat!). They both deal with some level of revenge and hatred. TCP's heroine is forcefully (by debt) her love interest's guard (known since childhood), soon turning into love. [Be noted that TCP is for an older audience (some images are not suited for young readers)]. On the other side, Skip Beat!'s heroine follows one guy (from the love triangle) into the entertainment world for revenge, only to be in love (not that she knows) with another - also seen in childhood. Main point being, both similar in some aspects of style, and also great reads.

I could not help being reminded of By Hero when I read Hug. By Hero is literally, "a bird's eye view", as the bird is being taken care of a human. Hug! is the girl meeting a boy who is exactly like her dog. Something about the perspective of humans & animals is strikingly similar. Also, there is the background of the main girl's love development alongside her care of an animal. But the big thing is, they're both are cute one-shots.

A strong-willed heroine with a developing love interest, both of which are not fully aware of the guy's obvious feelings for her. Moreover, the great art of the mangas really plays with the comedy (especially for the main guy's crazy antics, and the girls' dense look). Both mangas are really good and hilarious. And if you read Her Majesty's Dog, you can see the character similarities too. Difference between these two is that Maid-sama is more like one big development, while Her Majesty's Dog is more like stories here and there with the development in the background. Either way, they both have a girl that anyone could look up to.

Both main girls:: love to have that fantasy/imagination around them (ex: occasional shiny eyes that seems to see a lovely world there);; give unexpected love developments to a taller, bit-older guy that appeared in their childhood;; treat their best friend with the same greeting (very funny- "yelling their names and jumping into the air" kind of greeting).
