After 10 years i finally decided to watch it. ok, i have no doubts that this in 96' could be seen as a masterpiece. Original, new, not the usual story. The problem is whether it can still be considered a masterpiece today in 2022? The main flaws I've found are:
- A slow first part, considering the excessive speed of the second part.
- Lore and psychology of some characters completely absent. We know practically nothing about Kaworu. At this point I wonder what's the point of taking it easy in the first part when you then minimize the time for the finale.

don't have any particular problems with the 2 final episodes, but, still, don't want to be repetitive, what's the point of 40 minutes of Shinji talking to himself in practice, when you've dealt with the whole matter with Kaworu in 10 minutes.
Basically my main problem is not the confusing story, or the characters, but the time management they used. There was a lot of lore to cover, at the end of the 26 episodes you find yourself with more questions than answers.
That being said, I think it's an anime to watch, because it's not an obvious anime. But it's not the best of its kind today in 2022. I think that in the "Psychological mecha" category 86 is superior to it, or if you want a simpler "action with drama elements" there are many other anime, like Fate/Zero , which are much more stimulating.
Tron seen in 1982 had a certain effect. Now 40 years later it is decidedly unwatchable. Here we are not at those levels, but for me Neon Genesis Evangelion has aged badly.

This can be a 10/10, i like the drama in the second part of the season, that give a twist of a story that was becoming repetitive very fast.
But it's not a 10/10 for some mistakes.
SPOILERS
First of all, Eriri make no sense quitting the club like that.
I understand Utaha that want to grow as an artist, and i will be fine if Eriri want to do the same thing, but that was not the case. She quit because the MC don't scream at her like crazy to make her lazy ass to work.

That is one one thing, but the big mistake of the show is how they manage the drama.
In that, the reaction of MC was too soft.
Very mature for him, but also very boring.
In just few minutes he force himself to like the thing that both his best artists are leaving him.
That is no good, of course i understand that he wants them to grow as artists, but at the same time you can't be so unselfish to not give a fuck of yourself, is just too much.
The show could be so much more interesting with more fights in that moment, at a point to break their relationships.

GS good points:
++SPOILERS++ i view the anime + read the manga and the spinoff
-Make monsters great again: when was last time that you hate a monster? Like very fews times indeed, but in general modern fantasy make monsters something to beat up to make experience or money but that's it. In other fantasy anime monters are good or misunderstood. Well thanks god, GS is not about that. In this story you will come to hate the goblins and share the same sentiment of the protagonist, just kill them all. Good point for me, in much fantalsy plots the monster are just there, but there isn't

no motive to hate them.
- The protagonist is a huge plus for me. He don't talk much not because he is classic silent type, but because he have a trauma. Goblins kill is family and he was forced to see that. After seeing his sister raped for days, was helped by a rhea that teach him how to fight not in a way you teach to a child. (In one session the teacher tie the leg of the protagonist with a rock in a lake, and forced him to kick the ground of the bottom of the lake to resurface for breathing, for hours!). This is not a stereotype! this is the normal development of the trauma that he have for years.
-It's not only about killing goblins. In all that he is trying to change himself to become a real adventurer not just a dude that kill goblins. Of course is very hard because he do that for all his life (he is 21 in the story), so there will be a slow pace of development.
- The protagonist is not a dude that is OP like shit. He have no real power, is just a guy good with a good armor and use usually short sword or what he find of the weapons of goblins. No super mega big greatsword of gastu, no op magic, nothing. His companions are much OP than him.
Cons:
- It's gore, so if you hate that things is not a anime for you. Much dudes give 0 for GS and 10 for SAO for that, don't judge, is just not for you.
- The "heroine" is the classic cute/timid girl, no much to say about her.
All in all, a good anime, i prefer the manga personally. Is a breath of fresh air in a genre too much stale. Peoople that give 1-2 or 3, really....deserve to watch to watch boring things SAO like forever.
