Well I've never read the manga, and at first look this series just seemed like another harem story. Of course not to judge a book by its cover and delved deeper.
The series gets a straight 7 across the board. It wasn't perfect and it certainly had it's down sides but the artwork was decent, similar to what is normally seen in anime and has plenty of fan service.
The music was fitting to the series, very lovey dovey in the beginning sequence then turns to a sensual feel for the ending. The story is somewhat unique but barely since the series does deal with the traditional monsters
...
like vampires, werewolves, and witches; along with some not so known monsters, and a human manages to trick them all- yeah! But watching the series, I see there is an obvious lack of common sense among the characters and their decisions and a constant back and forth love talk between the main two protagonist (Tsukune and Moka) and the butting in of the other girls of this put together harem.
While most of the characters have their own special personalities and traits they all seem to have one thing on their minds and that's the man of the series (and in some cases their is a bit of yuri).
Overall the anime did keep me interested and laughing, if anything it is good for embarrassing comedy and one anime you might want to be careful of watching with certain groups.
Also some fourth walls are broken but that just adds to the fun.

This is one of the few anime that I personally have approved of and given a score of all 10's across the board.
This series itself presents a lot of elements that just added up to the masterpiece that is Gosick. Despite not understanding the title, the whole series was a rejuvenation of the traditional mystery genre mixed with dark secrets of its own.
Story gets a 10 out of 10. It starts out as a regular story with the main protagonist in a situation that he himself either cannot control or has done something that will start the process of the entire story. Now this
...
series does something interesting from usual anime and involves history (although very minor, such as WW1 and WW2). Although the series was based in a fictional country it still showed the interactions of people and places as if in actual history and life during that time period. Science was taking a big part in the world around that time and the argument of Magic VS Science was strong. Even though the series starts out like this it takes things gradually and smooths into each part of the story and connects different parts that would never seem to be connected. It goes from mystery of different murder cases then eases into mysteries connected with the main characters and then the plot is soon revealed. It was well drawn out, very suspenseful at times, and the ending was beautiful, a tear-jerking moment.
The Art work also receives a 10 out of 10. To break it down simply, the backgrounds from the school, the maze, the library and clock tower, and the characters were all drawn to detail, the mixed colors that stood out and gave the anime a beauty few can compare. Yes for most of the character they were not as impressive but different from the usual anime we see blonde hair, since this series takes place other than Japan for the majority. The individual characters are gorgeous. The main female has a lovely transformation as well. The different fight scenes, especially ones with fire gives an intense feeling and the series didn't need an over excess of blood gore to make it good. The series even did the seasons, which was played out well. More could be said for the art that I can't do justice- but watch the series and find out.
Sounds of the anime Gosick were just as great as the art. 10 out of 10. The reason for this- all the songs used, from the opening to the two endings made me want to constantly sing to them and fit perfectly with the series and the opening sequences and ending sequences. The opening was very upbeat and the endings were both enchanting and lovely. The second ending was a duet and I can see how it fit wonderfully with the series. Again watch the series and listen for yourselves.
The characters- 10 out of 10. I enjoyed watching the two main protagonists go at it and encounter all the obstacles throughout the series, because the ending was worthwhile. Their [Kujo and Victorique] relationship was something truly out of a fairy tale and something beautiful. An innocence and child-likeness. The series did a great job of giving each character their own personality and backgrounds and traits that were specifically theirs and I didn't see as generic. They had backgrounds that were well explained and clear. The relationships and bonds presented from start to finish was detailed and surreal (at least to me).
Enjoyment and Overall: Both 10 out of 10. I enjoyed this series to the point of writing this review in hopes in getting others to watch and re-watch it. The music, the art, and the complete story and characters strong enough to cheer for and to hate made this series a worthwhile adventure to watch. I'll certainly rewatch and it's again a real water-works starter and that you can sympathize with the characters and fall in love.

First time making reviews for an anime series that is by far one of my least favorite anime but still fascinating enough to discuss to the fullest and watch the OVAs.
The story itself just made its parent series look gruesome (which is was) since this OVA was adding to the comical effect. The fact it starts out in a hotsprings and the boys (one who is a rapist and the other a pimp) are just simply stupid idiots in this one and goes as far as to make them funny and makes the audience feel sorry for Makoto (for the first time) since it is
...
this time- the girls making things had for Makoto to choose.
Art/Sound: all the same in the general look of the entire series. The black magic chocolates and tentacles (seriously Japan...seriously) and the demon girls just made things funny yet still held onto the creepiness of the anime.
The characters: There is a parent in this one- although she too acts without sense...like mother like daughter. And the sister of Kotonoha gets involved- again as to why is beyond thought. Again 2-Dimensional, but for an OVA they were just being funny and needed nothing else.
Overall:Funny- another break from the evil dark side of the series and more brain soap.

To start off- unlike it's parent series, this OVA was indeed meant to punk the audience in an April Fools frenzies. I would say it takes place somewhere inside the actual series before crap actually went down. Reason- it still shows how happy Makoto and Kotonoha are and a still jealous Sekai. Also on comparing it to its parent series- it does keep the bit of blood and gore and minor nudity and perversion.
Now- unlike the fellow series it has it's own twist that makes the series go into the state of most anime series- all the same characters....but all (for the most part) happy
...
and no drama, and a set of them are superheroes. Some being part of a team, the others work as singles- but they all come together for the greater good. While this OVA didn't make me totally hate Makoto's guts he does redeem himself by trying to be the hero. The other girls all seem to be doing better- and we finally see a person's mother who looks to be a decent parent.
Story:6- again decent and makes the dark series just a bit lighter and comical without tearing it apart with hypocrisy.
Art/Sound/and Character: 7/and 6's- art was the same as the anime and it was a bit cuter and more revealing. The sound was over all the same and the characters are still roughly 2 dimensional with the only change is their superhero lives.
Overall- a good break from the evil darkness of the main show and more like brain soap for those who needed it.

Ok- while I don't want to rage like so many, I've read the manga and will compare and contrast the two while giving an hon est opinion. First of all- I will only recommend this anime to those who will watch to the very end no matter what. If you don't mind blood and gore, or the psychopathic logic and melodrama and the scary fact that it is a slice of life hence this could happen and has happened to real life people then watch- if not- then this anime is not for you.
1.The story and characters- the two were nothing special. The title itself
...
gives an easy going appearance to the viewers while hiding the true darkness of the series. While the plot is actually a few life lessons all bundled into one, it comes off as mere betrayal of the main character, idiotic decisions of the fellow cast of characters and the slow descent into madness that came upon the broken and the dejected over the span of the series- characters being forced into a corner and in pure desperation for happiness. The characters in the anime are all 2-dimensional. They have no backgrounds to get attached to with a few minor flashbacks, and all of them have no emotions except ones that could get anyone to become the Incredible Hulk and destroy things.
The girls are all shallow and the only innocent one, Kotonoha,is undeserving of all the crap handed to her while at the same time needed to have the common sense to end it before she lost her mind. It wasn't until the end that people started seeing their mistakes. The fact that it proves that karma comes full circle and that you get what you have done to others (in the case of Sekai and Makoto in the end) Unlike the manga, the anime has a more unexpected twist.
The other point that needed to be pushed in was that there are no parents or adult figures to really step in and take charge or over see the children. For this reason I score low on the anime. That so many adults or on-lookers could ignore the signs or not observe these children better it's like our regular bad high schools and bad parenting.
2.The artwork and sound both get good marks because they are what deceives the viewers. The Opening and Closings are happy and light. They mask the true intentions of the story. The artwork wasn't a big standout compared to other works, but coming from a smaller anime studio it was good and helped emphasize certain scenes (black blood *cough cough*)
Overall-I will not recommend unless again- you can handle anime that will give you a main character that is rotten and the rest of the characters are just as conniving and sickening as the next. The bullying, the rape, and gore are also things to mention, but if you can make it through that and seriously wish to see vengeance at work and life lessons learned in the end then watch it at your own risk. (I would also say to read the manga and play the games if you want to see different versions of how things would turn out)

The first thing I can say is that the manga did better than the anime...for a few reasons. The manga presented Makoto with trying to do the right thing while the anime made him into a major twat. The girls all remain stupid while Kotonoha was as innocent yet bat crazy as could be. Sekai was still no better.
Story plot/ character development: The story in compare and contrast to its anime counterpart.....still made me want to flip chairs and tables. The fact that only this time it was all Sekai's seducing's fault and the misunderstandings of the side friends. Although Makoto did try to see
...
reason- unlike in the anime version. In fact I'm surprised he even made a cut- clear decision in the end and blames himself. The other major improvement from the anime- the little sister- she was like the small voice of innocent reason to all the characters who came in to bring Makoto back to his promise. Sekai was over all the worse- she is in my opinion a hypocrite that ruined people's lives all because of her own selfishness...but since she decided to play matchmaker- she has no one to blame but herself. There were no direct teacher or parent interactions or interference so it does strike the question of how things could get this far while they are all still under their parents' roofs. The enitre plot of the manga goes in the way of the visual novel- with the ending just one of the many and one that the anime is a reverse to.
Art: It was ok- despite my dislike of the series I have to give points for giving the creepy edge but still remaining again cute and innocent to draw in potential readers.
Overall: This is a psychological and slice of life drama of a manga. It does present the real life aspect of what would happen if someone took the way of the characters, which sadly many people do- the only difference is, the manga shows the reader what can happen in real life even if we don't think it will. The ending does not give or take away- while showing us it is a true tragedy it does not explain how the rest of the characters will go on and over all what will happen to them. While I enjoyed it better than the anime (besides the very end) I would recommend the visual novel first, then this manga. But only recommend it to those who can handle stressed situations, cheaters of the lowest kind, and are willing to stick it out to the very end.

Overall I will say this manga gets a 7. My enjoyment of it- a 9.
For a yaoi, BL, manga the story was fair and it gave time for some development, it did show some span of time or implied it for the characters to actually get to know each other than the traditional one-shot.
The artwork was a bit choppy, but gave good details. Darker in tones and even for a soft core yaoi, it was well drawn.
The characters, again were made out well, had the conflict presented and even a back story that supported the main story. The main character's love for each other is
...
a cute one and it shows the sacrifices made to get what they wanted.
Again over all it was a good, easy read.

Overall a decent sized anime, it had elements unique to it, while most of it ranged from what we've already seen. The name is an obvious hint to what the story is about, and it can also be misleading. It does present a lot of "love triangles" and unlike the manga (obviously) it leaves a few plot holes. Overall gets a 7 from me. (not that I didn't like it.)
The story a 7- cause while it does resemble a lot of harem, multi-girl to one guy anime, it is entertaining. The anime could have been extended to make the ending less choppy and more- smoothly
...
draw out, but it does leave room for a sequel and for the pairings hinted on to either be fulfilled or played with more.
The art and sound also get strong 7's- they were all colorful characters- made me think of candy actually. The fight scenes with the martial art effects was good and while not a whole lot of serious detail the series manages to pull it off. The opening and ending titles- both happy, energetic, and the since this anime had a lot of girl voices-they were all so adorable. And it will make you laugh and think that this situation really could have turned out better.
The characters get a 7. But I will give credit-the fact that one of the characters was a manga artist was a nice touch. And that the series has a lot of silliness that you don't really have to look too hard to see. The characters individually are drawn out to where they aren't really shallow- but could be developed better. Certain relationships could be worked on- while the creators did make it seem like they weren't absolute.
Overall it's a decent (respectfully) series to just sit back and chill and watch. To get away from the main stream, laugh, and compare.

While I've watched and re-watched the series, I've not been able to fully capture how I wanted to make this review. This series in a nut-shell is a a psychologically mystery covered in gore and sexual appeal, sprinkled with comedy.
The manga and anime are roughly the same with minor differences and characters present in the manga and not the anime. A few plot holes exist but fairly simple to follow.
The anime has an interesting view on a lot of things that most anime wouldn't even touch- such as the viewing of humanity and its cruelties to anything different or abnormal, and again the sexual
...
references throughout the entirety of the series. Many will get thrown off by this- i wouldn't blame you, but as moments of comedy enter with the main characters average and remotely peaceful lifestyles and the saddest experienced by nearly all the characters it's decently balanced.
Getting to the individual break down (sorry if it bores you) but the story and overall gets an 8. The plot has its moment where it shows that humanity can be cruel and makes the audience think for a moment about the main character and the other mistreated characters. It makes you think who is truly the monster in the situation.
The artwork for both the opening and ending songs were beautiful and get a 9. Some of the artwork was based on actual pieces or art (Lucy just replaces the actual piece). It's abstract and along side the music leaves a haunting sensation that clearly gives more to the series. The sound also gets a 9. The opening song "Lilium" plays throughout the series in moments of sadness and deep thought. It also does a religious connection in a small way- since Lucy and the other girls in the series with horns were said be sent by God to destroy man. The ending sequence was a bit happier and still made a connection with the series and the main character's wishes.
(If you're still with me then thanks.)
The characters as a whole fit. Individually they could be given more background and details about them- but the way they were portrayed really didn't need to be. In some cases what was given about most characters was so shocking and direct (harsh in more ways than one) that it was simple to see how a character would develop under such conditions. But it also could be seen as an absence of background and a "proper" development that makes the characters who they are. Many of which had no normal upbringing and were already thrashed by gore and inhumanity.
I think the ending was left the way it was for the audience to decide. Although throughout the show you see and connect the pieces to what may look like it's leading to a good ending, and I think it does. Overall a good anime to try out- if you can get past the first few minutes and aren't really disturbed by over amounts of blood. It gets the mind ticking.

Ok- first off the series itself shows absolute comedy. The plot is almost drowned out by what the main character is doing and his ignorance to the actual mission at hand.
This series, like a few others, show the otaku male delving deeper into obsession and somehow obtaining skills that are useful when put into the right way but seem utterly useless and creepy during other times. The female protagonist that plays an equally important role to keep the gamer otaku in check this time is merely a bumbler who either also ignores her duties or can't seem to find a common ground with her
...
male partner.
The story's plot is established right off the bat in the first episode, and so is the minor problems that stop the plot from progressing quicker. This just added to the comedy element, and as much as romance should have played a big part into the story, it was slightly overshadowed- which wasn't to bad.
What this series started off doing was introducing characters one by one; giving the girls their "time in the spot light". It was unfortunate that after each girl's segments they all but disappeared from the main character's life and seemed to leave little impact but he does seem to show just a bit of humanity throughout the show.
The sounds/music was a mix between decent and hilarious. The fact that opening and ending sounds were good and fit into the story very well and showed how the girls were taken by the "God of Conquest" and how his skills are actually important just made it fitting. I do however think his singing is not the best- and again added to the comedy.
The artwork is on the same levels as Comic Party, Happy Lesson, and as far to go with "Is This A Zombie?". It had its moments, especially when it came to the capture scenes and the main character's skills as the "God of Conquest".
Enjoyable, will make the audience laugh, or at least comment on how odd the series is. Some will find it- interesting to see the hard to reach dark side to anime lovers and into the world of deep otaku. But overall it was good.
