Its not bad, but its such a a wasted potential.
In the start it's really surprising, with the first chapters giving "The Return of Obra Dinn" vibes, the Lovecraftian horror being really well made, but...nothing can be good for to long, and even if the horror sometimes still show up a little in the story, the potential is totally lost when it become a generic battle Shounen with fights, friendship drama, superpowers, villain groups, transformations and worst, and that dont fit with the Lovecraftian theme the story started with, and worst of all, all the shonen cliche is not good, it's just a mix

This manga follow the successfull Shonen Jump model for manga, taking a bit from a lot of successfull stories in a way that even seems to be engineered to be the most generic possible.
The artstyle is good, not overly "edgy" as most of modern manga are, having a more a Magi-like one, with some things very commom in comedy mangas. I'm all against the story starting with a already super strong protagonist, as he seems to be too stacked already in the 10 first chapter, and in this it really take any weight that anything in story could have. The first 3 chapters are quite a surprise, and then it seems that will go in a way of becoming another "anti-monster corps" but, no, the author take its in a mix of the Mecha-Corps, that is such a classic theme, with a undertone of mystery, also u can get the names inspirations for the ministeries from Orwell 1984, so probably there will be a future political drama behind the scenes.
Really like the artstyle going a bit outside this trend of "edgy-dark-shonen" that all look like Jujutsu, going for a more classical Manga style, that is clearly a inspiration from Boku no Hero, and that ...

Interesting story, u can clearly get the influence from American cinema in the setting, from Alien to Mad Max: Fury Road.
For people familiar with post-apocalyptic and sci-fi, there isnt really something super new and mind blowing, as u can identify a lot of commom tropes in this kind of stories and its easy to get to where the plot is going, but seems to be a slow-burn story, with the major parts taking their time to start to get more "intense" The artstyle is quite simple, but seems to be intentional to give this more "graphic-novel" vibe, with nerly no scenary and following a more "realistic" ...

A page turner, the artsyle is really good, the abilities are interesting and create a good basis for a worldbuilding, the plot with the detective/mystery theme is great and rapidly catch your attention, and even if the charcaters are members of a gov organization, it not follow the saturated "anti-monsters corps" theme that seems to have become standart in manga today.
The author and the artist being a non-japanese is such a huge step for the a industry that is still closed off the amount of stories that can come from all over the world, taking influence from other forms of literature and story telling, giving ...

The artstyle is extremely generic and there's a clear lack of the sense of pespective and movement in the drawing, the story is one more of those "anti-monster corps", of the new ones from Jump+ this is the least interesting one, feels like cheap version of Ao no Exorcist.
Also the author seems to puts to much information and count on the reader to remember it to make sense on the dialogues, especially regarding the locations and the organization posts, that pehaps for a japanese are easy to remember, but for me wasnt. Mixed feelings because i will continue to read at least until at least chapter ... |
