Monster Musume is a rather interesting show to watch. I generally am not a fan of the whole harem and ecchi combination, but Monster Musume is a different cup of tea.
tl;dr version: Monster Musume is a well executed series that makes up for its lack of a storyline by utilizing and succeeding with comedy and satire.
The Long Version:
(This next paragraph talks about my experiences with the manga, however, it brings up a point I want to mention)
When I first began reading the manga (of which I'm still reading at Chapter 35), I didn't have a good feeling about it since I had heard it would
...
have similar tags as this. Around the 20th chapter, I realized something about this series that is the very reason it has kept my interest this long.
MONSTER MUSUME IS NOT A SERIES THAT FOCUSES ON STORY. (Will mention more about this in the story segment)
Rating Breakdown:
Story:(5 out of 10):
As mentioned earlier, this series isn't one that particularily has a story. One could argue that its story is how our main MC goes through his everyday life with several monster girls living with him, but that's not what I'm getting at here. Despite lacking the story that many series are known for, Monster Musume makes up in its comedic almost even satirical "What if..." scenario. The reason I have given it a 5? Because despite its weak storyline, it still has a decent enough writing to keep those that watch the series interested. (I'll touch more on that in enjoyment).
Art (9 out of 10):
What? I rarely give out tens for anything unless specifically mentioned.
Seriously though, I'm still having a hard time seeing any issues with the art or animation. It is well done. This will more than likely change a little upon completion of this series (in which I'll rewrite this review due to MAL policy)
Sound (9 out of 10):
I'm sure there are more people like me who read manga and when an anime adaptation comes out, we're like "I hope [character] sounds like this..." or something like that. Hey, don't judge me...Anyway, all of the voices were well done as they all fit their personalities. To pick examples; Manako the Monoeye , Papi the Harpy, and Suu the Slime were the three voices that I believe were nailed directly on the head.
Meanwhile, on another note, I personally love the MON ending.
Character(8 out of 10):
Normally, my character rating is based on initial personality, character development and character personality persistence (does the character maintain their personality and any slight changes all the way through or does it seem to disappear?). Since it was mentioned that this series doesn't really have a story, this rating would generally reflect that missing element. Being aware of this special case, I focused more on the first and last elements. Most of the characters have well thought out personalities from the start. Between a overly obsessed romanticist, loyal and chivalry-type, birdbrain, airhead, tragic lover, and a sadist that are combined with their traits for being of a certain species, makes the interactions between each of them and the male MC (who doesn't have much to him outside of being a nice guy) rather comical.
Enjoyment (10 out of 10):
Yes, there is a 10...oh boy...
As I've said countless times, this show focuses more on comedy. Just like in the manga, I've laughed countless times at the various jabs of humor and satire. Whether it's a simple question as to how a snake uses a toilet to our lovely harpy forgetting her own name because she's a birdbrain, the show utilizes its creativity for (to be blunt) making fun of what it would be like if these other species were living lives similar to our own. Monster Musume's use of comedy with irony also adds to its enjoyment factor. I'd give some more examples, but I don't like to spoil and I think I've spoiled a little bit. (If you're that interested, watch it).
Original Story: 8/10
Final Score: 9/10 - Excellent execution of the series that remained closely tied to the original manga.
Summary:
For those that came here looking for an anime with a fantastic story and really good characters, I'm sorry these aren't the monster girls you are looking for (Bad reference is bad). If you want a good laugh with an anime that takes a ride on the more comedic side of entertainment, this is a show for you.

Can you hold it in your heart to believe in yourself to be a hero? Can you do that while knowing that while you carry out your promise to protect the world, you have to watch as you feel like you're failing that same promise to your friends? Are you truly capable of being a hero knowing what sacrifices have to be made and what you can lose along the way? Do you have the willpower to be the spark that lights the candle of hope surround by a shroud of despair?
Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru (YuYuYu for short) is an anime that
...
asks five girls of the Sanshu Middle School Hero Club these questions. Can they handle it? Well...I can't spoil things so you'll have to go find that out yourself...If you read the discussions first before watching the episodes..I will go to your house and cave your shins in! No seriously though..YuYuYu is a pretty good show.
Take a slice of life anime with Magic girls add a lot of cute moments and well thought out characters and you get YuYuYu. The show leaves the impression of one of those really cute and action-y shows...basically giving the appeal of something out of Kyoto Animation (like K-ON! or Chuunibyou).
Suddenly, the show takes a turn into a Madoka Magicka atmosphere...The story progresses into a more depressing and seemingly sinister series at the blink of an eye and you begin to worry about the future of these girls. Things worsen, your feels are tested, and more and more monsters are destroyed, but at the end of the day (series) all that was needed was the will to believe in yourself and your friends.
Detailed breakdown:
Story (9/10): As mentioned, the story seems very light-hearted and cute, but as it progresses...things get real...and quick. While seemingly slow at the beginning, the entire storyline is well thought out and very very detailed. What was impressive was how well the storyline was able to conceal its gloomy and dark parts of it with cute and warming parts. It's ending, however...left a more cliched ending to it....along with its slow start...keeping it from it's 10/10 mark.
Character(10/10): To me, characters are the most important part of the story. It's what really matters in a scene no matter how you look at it. YuYuYu does it right. Not only does it give a background of each character, it also does a good job at showing how they connect to the other characters (through either relation (Fu and Itsuki) or the Hero Club). What I really liked was the mystery that surrounds Togo's two year gap.
Art: (9/10): Despite having the rather "generic" anime style, YuYuYu's amount of color and detail in the animation was well done. From the designs of the characters to even the designs of the monsters and the Taisha world (mainly the heavy amount of color here).
Sound: (9/10): I can't say much about the sound throughout the series. However, the song choice for the opening and closing was well done. Opening remained calm and collected, but at the same time...still a catchy tune. The ending was a completely different story. The use of certain voice actors during the ending really added to some of the "depressing" feel that came from the series itself. An example of this is the endings where only the seiyu of Itsuki sung the song during the episodes that were more focused around Itsuki's character.
Enjoyment: (9/10): It's been a while since I felt anticipation for an anime show. This show's ability to keep me on my toes and always dying for the next episode is something worth noting. During the light-hearted side of the story, I enjoyed the rather comical side of the series itself...what made the show...well...slice of life. The action sequences and the battles were well done. During the darker side of the series, I felt a lot of anxiety as I began to fear the worst would happen in the series. The last time I experienced this was during my time watching Tokyo Ravens (Fall 2013 -> Winter 2014).
Overall: 9/10. To sum up this series, I would say this is a must watch for fans of shows like Madoka Magicka. This series was well done and I cannot express how much I enjoyed the series overall. Fair warning though...this series will test you feels.

To sum up the entire story in a simple sentence:
"A mini-harem show with some decent amount of story and rather interesting character backgrounds. Its action and comedy will either leave you on the edge of your seat or on the floor laughing."
Now for those wanting to read a little more about it:
Before you continue to read, take a good look at the recommendations. This show literally feels like a cross between "Kore wa Zombie desu ka?" and "Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin".
Warning though: For those that are not a big fan of Harem-like shows...this may not be for you.
Story (7 of 10): Surprisingly,
...
the story seems rather straightforward and blunt. A boy named Koutarou moves into an apartment that he later discovers is haunted by a girl named Sanae. Within the next night various characters make their appearance either by flying through a window and ramming headfirst into a wall or using other various methods of entry. As more and more girls appear, what was a peaceful life for Koutarou turns into a free-for-all over Kou's living space. I'm not saying this is a great story as there are a few dull points. However this beats some of the harem-like shows in terms of story.
Art (8 of 10): From an animator perspective, I haven't seen any issues with any lazy animation or still images. Despite that, the art style seems like the standard anime art style as there seems to be no unique part to it (unique in a way that is like the incredible use of color in No Game, No Life or the unique chibi-like style that Nichijou has). I will mention that I do love some of the splash images (favorite being during the opening).
Sound (8 of 10): Personally, I don't much take for openings and endings. However, let me share you my thoughts on both as we reach the topic of sound. Opening: Combined with its fast-paced rhythm and the animation, the opening kept me entertained and I would find myself watching the opening each time or repeatedly. Speaking of which...I'm listening to the opening right now. Ending: To be perfectly honest, this ending makes me want Milk Tea. The song itself fits with the show and does not feel out-of-place. In terms of that, they chose well with that. With the VA work, each character's voice actor seems well matched for the character personality as well. Personally enjoyed listening to Ruthkhania Pardomshiha's seiyu Saori Hayami (who voices Miyuki Shiba in Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - another show I am currently watching) as well as some of the other starting VAs and other veteran VAs.
Character (8 of 10): The variety of characters make for an interesting mix of interactions and comedic moments. From your usual uppity Tsundere to the shy and easily embarrassed girl, this anime seems to have its share of both usual characters types as well as some different character types. With this being slightly a harem-like anime, the main male protagonist is dense as usual. However, I will give the show props for having a few characters reach out to him past his density. Unlike most harem shows I've seen, Rokujouma spends a even amount of time in its series going through the basic backgrounds of each girl in terms of arcs. (Think of it like a shounen-like arc structure). The time spent in each arc gives us more than enough to understand where each girl came from.
Enjoyment (9 of 10): Not sure if I've said much of this yet, but allow me to share on this one. This show has given me several laughs as well as some tense times. I've throughly enjoyed this series and continue to (which surprises me as it is seems to be becoming more harem-like). I'd share some of my favorite parts, but that would mean spoiling...so I'd rather avoiding having any baby seals getting clubbed for me spoiling something.
Overall (9 of 10): As this series itself progressed, I found myself enjoying most of the moments. The simple humor as well as some of the light action sequences made for great show. I generally am not a huge fan of harems or harem-like shows, but, like Highschool DxD, Rokujouma is one of those exceptions.
Recommend Watching?: Yes...unless you really hate anything to do with Harems or harem-like shows.

I'm not sure where to begin with this...show. I can't analyze it from the beginning so let's look at it from the end. SO IN OTHER WORDS, THIS SHOW IS NOW CALLED CABOOSE WARS!
On a more serious note, those looking for a serious show with a great story, interesting characters, and an overall good time, just stop right now...
This show...can be summarized by fan-service.
Let's start with breaking down the specifics.
Story: (3 of 10): Let's look at the synopsis above, now back to this. (wants to make an old spice reference, but holds it in). The synopsis is partially right. This is about
...
the story of Takayama, who wishes to go and become an employee of the JNR system (a train driver to be exact). After that, we get to witness several episodes of nothing but fan-service and animated sequences that serve no other purpose than to give you a butt to look at. There a few moments when the story seems to focus more on his life only to later be covered up by some sort of fan-service or harem activity.
Art: (6 of 10): I can at least say that the animation did have good looking fan-service xD when it would be there. However, the art is like most animes as it uses that same basic anime look. (What I consider unique is something like NGNL's insane color usage or Nichijou's character designs and slightly flat color usage). The animation that went into trains seem to be fine however I have noticed that some instances of the animation were done lazily. An example would be when one of the trains was a still image and only the background moved.
Sound: (5 of 10): I will say that the sound work was not terrible either. I haven't been on enough trains to recognize the sounds of them like one of their characters, but I have enough experience to say that they matched well enough. Voice work was fine had no issues with the voice cast.
Character: (3 of 10): I'm just going to mention Aoi here. From the beginning she was the "Anti-male" trope that made several of us cringe (why is that still a character type)...unfortunately, that personality fell apart quicker than a bullet train (Ask Takayama about that speed). What personalities several characters have begin to fall apart like another certain anime I remember reviewing (Don't ask about Infinite Stratos 2). This was all due to creating the harem that Takayama gains.
Enjoyment: (6 of 10): I will give this show some props for having a few interesting scenes throughout the series itself. There was some action that did keep me interested enough to help me watch this. However, this story was hard for me to finish due to its lack of enjoyment. Honestly, I spent more time making fun of the fact that it was more about cabooses and less about trains.
Overall: (5 of 10): I'm giving this a mediocre rating (5). I can't seem to justify giving this show anything higher. It was not utterly terrible, but it was no where near decent or "fair" as MAL calls it.
Recommend watching?: Not really...unless you want an idea of a low-end animation for comparison in future reviews.

I'll just give a quick summary of the review:
+ Decent plot involving use of personality swaps. The storyline is well written as many of the emotions and feeling could be felt from the characters.
+ Consistent with action as the main series is
+ The alternate personalities added humor to the movie (the interactions amongst each other proved comical at points).
+Some changes in the characters/groups made certain scenes interesting.
-The other chunin from the series (Shikamaru, Choji, Hinata, etc) had very little significance in the story. The story was hyped up about their change in personalities, but had very few scenes involving a majority of
...
the characters that built the hype for the movie.
-The art seemed different and lazy at certain points. Some segments seemed to be missing detail that normally is covered in the series itself.
Final Thoughts:
Road to Ninja lived up to be a pretty good movie. It's not one of the best, but it definitely has some decent replay value to it.
