[SUMMARY]
An AI uprising threatens to wipe out humanity. The singing AI, Diva, is tasked with preventing this dark future from ever happening.
[THE GOOD]
+Beautifully done art and animation. Character designs are great, camera angles are interesting, and the fight choreography has an exciting sense of speed.
+If you like idol culture, this will greatly enhance your experience. I personally don't, so my score is not helped by this. I can tell, however, that the music was made by talented people.
+When this anime wants to be horrific, it succeeds with flying colors.

+THE GOOD+
+Excellent setup for a story. The main character is a top surgeon who decides to save one person over another - what could go wrong? EVERYTHING, as it turns out. In just 4 episodes, it was clear to me that Monster's 74-episode length was not going to be a problem. +Morally gray characters that each go through massive amounts of development. +While the story could have been tighter, I'm not convinced that would have been an improvement. Whenever an episode seems like filler, it ALWAYS turns out to be a worthwhile story. Many of my favorite episodes have little to do with the overarching plot. +Masterful use ... Dec 28, 2021
Claymore is an unfortunate example of when a manga gets an anime adaptation too early. For the first 3 quarters of its 26 episodes, it's a smartly-paced show with surprising and satisfying story progression that reminds me of something like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood mixed with The Witcher. But the final quarter is when it becomes glaringly obvious that the anime has run out of source material, and the story falls apart. It begins to start each episode with recaps instead of actual content, the action becomes way less interesting, and the ending leaves a bunch of loose ends for a second season that hasn't happened

The hilariously bad animation is a good joke at first, but it gets old after about 2 episodes. I can easily recommend watching at least one episode of this anime, but you really aren't missing anything if you don't want to finish it. Once the story gets to a point where it wants to be taken seriously, it just gets boring. You'll see glimpses of something that looks funny here and there, but not enough for me to want to give this show an ironic 10/10. The characters are as bland as it gets, the story isn't all that interesting...I guess the pacing and voice

Shin Evangelion Movie:||
(Anime)
add
Besides the usual confusing as fuck dialogue you may have come to expect from Evangelion, this is a great ending for the franchise. Even the more laid back parts of this movie are fun to watch, thanks to the strong cast of characters being more likable than ever. Hideaki Anno really put his heart into this final outing of Evangelion, and it shows with the believable portrayal of how emotions are supposed to come and go. There's nothing quite like this franchise of mechs, uncertainty, and depression - and I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't know why this movie took over 8

For a war drama, 86 doesn't feature nearly enough war or drama. Too much of its runtime is spent on slice of life, which wouldn't be such a bad thing if it helped me care more about the characters when it mattered. But 86's cast has a widespread personality problem. This is why the drama failed to make me feel anything. If a character has a personality at all, they're basically the embodiment of a trope. The two main characters are a bit better than the rest, but even they have glaring issues. One is overpowered just because. The other has paper-thin feelings that are

SSSS.Dynazenon
(Anime)
add
I'm now reminded of why I liked Gridman so much. Dynazenon is able to capture the same unique essence that made its predecessor so fun and cozy to watch. It may be dumb and repetitive at times, but you can tell that this is on purpose in order to give the 'Saturday morning' type of nostalgia. The SSSS franchise is not mecha in the usual sense. It's tokusatsu in anime form, so think more along the lines of Power Rangers or old Godzilla films. Each episode has a kaiju battle, but honestly these are only half the appeal of Dynazenon. What really keeps the plot

Since the anime already had movie-quality production, it's no surprise that the actual movie pretty much feels like you're watching another five episodes. To that end, I have no complaints. It's more Demon Slayer, and there's nothing wrong with that. The animation and soundtrack are as good as ever, but it should be pointed out that the setting is limited to a train for the most part. It's a serviceable arena for all the action that takes place, but it's nothing special. The fights themselves involve one concept in particular that I thought was cool, and the story moves at an appropriate pace. The characters

Ergo Proxy
(Anime)
add
A good sci-fi anime during the parts that aren't confusing for the sake of being confusing. I just don't see the appeal to storytelling where you have no idea what's going on until the episode ends, and there are about four episodes total where Ergo Proxy just says "fuck it, time to stop making sense". I only found one of these "puzzle episodes" enjoyable, and the rest I just wanted to end. Ergo Proxy is also not shy about letting you know how philosophically literate it is, but not for any reason that I could figure out. Maybe I'm just too stupid. The plot is

Berserk 2nd Season
(Anime)
add
This adaptation STILL looks like TRASH!!! But this season is an improvement over the first in just about every way. The soundtrack is used less obnoxiously, the plot and characters are more developed, and the worldbuilding is very well done. Like the first season, if you've already read the manga, all of those things are probably not going to impress you. But experiencing them for the first time in this anime does actually make this a tolerable thing to watch. It's not boring, that's for sure. And hey, watching this for a laugh isn't such a bad idea either. I think it would be best
