!!SPOILER ALERT!!
Okay so there r a alot of reviews on this beautiful piece but I just wanted to add mine becoz this holds a place in my heart so whenever I read this in future i could remember how much deep and beautiful this movie was 💔.
I felt more connected with GoFF as just few months ago i watched the complete ww1 and ww2 documentary which left me in grief. Felt pity for so many deaths, pain, cruelty, their loss. GoFF also deals with such kind of experience faced by Two brother and sister.
The story is extremely tragic and beautiful at at same time.
Saito and Setsuko
...
are left alone in the hell when their mother passes away. Saito is a caring brother which i cant relate(despite having a sist er)to but is totally understandable. They do find their aunt's house to live but not for a long time. As having shortage food she even charge them for food, she felt the burden of them and getting irritated and taunts Saito and Setsuko. Soon they both fed up and decided live on their own as they have some saving from their parents.
I felt this part of they story and is moral lesson that your mother and father are the only gurdian and lover.
Later they collect few items and find a shelter which was not sufficient for their survival, Saito started facing problems with shortage of food which forces him to steal, their was even points when he risks his life several times to enter the abundant houses which was under attack from the Aircraft. Day by day their condition become worst which eventually lead to the devastating end of the story.Saito did everything/whatever he can do for his sister but was not enough. I read in some reviews ppl questioning Saito decision to left his aunt's house but I completely felt opposite of it, I mean wht u can except from a teenager who has lost his mother and father. Setsuko on other hand is just a little girl unware and unknown of the things happening around her. Whenever I hear her voice its just melts in my heart, for such a little girl u can just feel pity (´;︵;`).
I dont think their was a movie which left me devastated and left me in a chaotic world for such a long time days after watching this movie.
This movie make me appreciate for wht i have and question my capabilities to survive in this world by myself. This is indeed the sadest movie i have ever watch. I think when any content taught u something i feel its success for them as well as for me.The harsh truth of reality this movie depicts is truly amazing.
Plzz spare my simple english , english is my 2nd lang(^._.^)
