In both novels the protagonist is haunted by a ghost whose wish he's supposed to fulfill. The way AnoHana differs from Hikaru is that the ghost is a childhood friend of the protagonist, while in Hikaru, they've only spoken once. The biggest theme in AnoHana is friendship while Hikaru is a bit more about love, but other than that, the main stories are pretty similar.

Although these two light novels differs a lot story-wise, they also carry their similarities as adventurous fantasy series. Both protagonists are, not by choice, bound to a role (in DenYuuDen he's the bearer of Alpha Stigma, in Tate no Yuusha it's the Hero of the Shield) that's despised by society. Both series has a theme concerning legendary heroes, and as they're set in a fantasy world, they're full of magic, dragons, knights, kingdoms and whatever you could expect from your typical fantasy story. Not to mention a great set of characters, I can recommend both of them!

*SPOILERS* Both are movies of a well-known anime where the main characters goes to an alternative world where everything has changed. They both start off trying to find a way back to their own world, but there are things they have to do first. In both movies, the supporting characters have changed (though much more in Naruto), and the antagonist is revealed to be the one you last expected.
