Miyamoto Musashi: Souken ni Haseru Yume

The 2 anime are mostly different with the exception of one thing that I enjoyed from them both: The discussion/explanation of the mechanics of sword styles. I liked how the flavour of each explanation border-lined between folklore and science. If like me, you are captivated by the details of how something is done and not just take it at face value, give it a try. you might enjoy it too. Be warned, Souken ni Haseru Yume is mostly documentary and has very little plot, while Shigurui is an M18 gore fest

The folk tale style of characters and story are my main reasons for recommending one for the other. these 2 brutal stories of blood feud offer 2 unrelenting and bloody takes on revenge. be warned though, Basilisk is a complete story while Shigurui only completes its telling in manga form.

Tatakau Shisho: The Book of Bantorra

Whilst Xam'd and Book of Bantorra have largely different underlying plots, i was taken in by the design of the rich/well-rounded universe that each has. which you will need to invest some attention to understand. Even With 2 sets of different cast of characters with unique strengths/abilities the amount of action and sub-plots in both are similar. For these reasons i liked them both, perhaps you will too.
