Easy my favourite anime of 2020

Probably there are quite few animes with the same dynamics, I haven't watched them so Somali rules.

I wasn't expecting anything like this. It punched me hard in the face, made me cry, and joyously laugh.

The art is incredible! Every episode is a masterpiece itself, including an incredible amount of details, from a tiny flower to a large city market. The are some stark contrasts highlighted by an effective use of colors throughout the series, in my opinion it helps brilliantly depicting how Somali sees the world.

However, art can be diminished by a poor music accompaniment. This is not ... the case. The soundtrack flows effortlesssly and increases the beauty of this incredible anime, by gently transporting you to this fantasy world.

The way the two main characters are represented and their relationship is extremely pleasant to watch and you can easily identify with either of them, depending on your circumstances. As every relationships, it is a journey towards mutual understanding and reinforced bonds. The other characters appearing during the story, enhance Somali and Golem's without being preposterous or adding discordant tones. There is an ideal succession of situations and encounters leading to the grand finale.

If it wasn't clear from all the above, I had an amazing time watching this series, I'd recommend it to anybody as a break from normal animes especially those with darker themes. It will definitely cheer you up and make you enjoy its depths.

Old school, a bit of mecha, space, love and gore

If you are into all of these you might want to check out Blue Gender. Even if not I'd still recommend to check it out just for a piece of anime's past.

The animation is old (1999, makes me feel ancient...) so you need to like it otherwise you probably won't be able to watch even the end of the first episode.

Honestly it has entertained me quite a lot, especially the characters development and how the story unravels. As it was created and produced 20 years ago, some part of the plots and behaviours of the ... characters have a sort of outdated flavour which from time to time might be boring but then you'll be sucked again back in the story.

While warching it, I found myself thinking again about the plausibility of such a scenario and how as a kid I used to think about such things all the time. So, I was in awe at how this anime managed to bring memories back.

Story wise, there is this mix of passion, love and doom that permeate everything, with the addition of unbereable immanence and human inferiority compared to "nature".

I loved the characters, they are engaging and someone could easily identify him/herself with them. Their development during the story arcs if well-done and spot on, the fit nicely in the frame.

To make it as clear as possible if you are expecting something more "conventional" and just want to watch stuff like that, I doubt you'll appreciate 00:08. If you feel like seeing something different, you might want to consider checking it out.

It's something nice to watch if you are into "Picassoesque"-"Daliesque" themes, mainly form an artwork point of view.
It's very short, 5 minutes, so you can give it a go.

The drawings and "animation" are good, it must have been a nice exercise for the authors.
The "soundtrack" goes well with the "story", it helps giving that surrealist aura.
The idea behind is not bad ... just nothing special or new.
I found it slightly unnerving a couple of minutes in but that's art for you.
Only because I didn't understand it, it doesn't mean I wasn't entertained.

Overall a solid 7
I won't re-watch it though
