This genre of Anime, cute girls doing cute things, is based upon the characters doing everyday life activities together in a cute way. Such genres don't need character development or story to make it work, all it needs to do is create endearing characters and put them through daily activities, the key here is the character interaction.
...
Then why does this Anime try to shove a half-done story down our throats? In a genre where the story isn't important at all, where the show can't build a complex story simply because if they tried then the "cute" part of the genre wouldn't work out and yet they still tried to make a "story" and to have "emotions" and such things. Character interaction is what creates cuteness and the happy atmosphere that shows such as this go for, when they add serious emotions to the formula what you get is a half-done interaction that can't yield happy atmosphere or serious emotions within the viewer.
This genre doesn't need deep characters and emotions, but they tried to have a go at it, they made characters with problems and emotional interactions but it fails, what they tried to do and what they were aiming at doesn't match.
The problem is the overall theme and the genre they were going for, they tried making parts of the show match with the genre and left few parts that didn't worked out. A serious show can't have "moe" characters, it might seem funny for awhile but it will get bad fast, and as such a "moe" show can't have serious characters, it just goes bad.
The overall art and sound was above average, the character designs were generic, they didn't stood out in a bad or good way. The story left many parts unclear, the characters themselves were bad, only because they tried to make them good and failed. If they left the characters as it is instead of trying to make them more then what they needed to be and simplified the story more then this could had worked.
As far as CGDGT genre goes, it was bad. The first few episodes were fun but later episodes, when the "serious" things started popping up, the show started failing. Overall it is a slice of life show with hints of story and character emotions, with few character developments here and there, the contrast between the seriousness of the matter at hand and the general theme of the show don't work out and end up ruining the show, they couldn't juggle both of the sides in a skillful manner and ended up with something half-done. I wouldn't recommend watching it.

What creates a successful Slice of Life(SoL) show? SoL shows generally don't have a proper story, most of the time it's there just for the sake of being there. SoL shows generally don't have proper characters either, or any character development. This doesn't mean that a SoL show can't have story or good characters, it just means that most shows out there choose not to include them. They use the SoL genre as an excuse for the lack of story or proper characters, these type of shows are all over the place, they don't have a proper goal that they are trying to achieve
...
with the show and just put out random acts every episode. A show must know what its trying to achieve if it wants to succeed, I don't mean plot wise, what I mean is in a more broader sense, what is the director trying to convey with the show, what did he want to create here and so on.
When they fail this what we get is Hinako Note. A show that doesn't know what it is trying to be, a show that lacks good characters and character interactions, a show that is all over the place and feels fake.
One thing that annoyed me the most was how we could see the hands of the author trying to shove the story through our throats. The overall flow of the story should not be made obvious to the viewer - unless it is trying to achieve comedic effect, if it is made obvious then the viewer is going to loose its sympathy and attachment to the show as a whole. You can't immerse yourself in the story and will realize that everything the characters do are for the sake of the story and they themselves have no souls, only puppets moving attached to the strings of the author.
The show was trying to achieve cute girls doing cute things genre but with forced fan service that they throw on your face it sadly failed achieving it. It feels as the characters interacted the way they interacted because that was what they were suppose to do, the fan service was there for the sake of it and wasn't natural at all. Ironically it felt like everyone was reading off of a badly written script and there was no hint of anything real. Since the story was faulty the characters followed suit and ended up flat and shallow, without any hint of real emotions or anything similar. With the characters failing the humor and anything else that might had saved the show also failed and as a result we got in our hands a failure of a show that couldn't do one thing right.
Everything bad about it aside the show could still be watched if you just watch it for the sake of occasional fan service and pretty characters. I can't find any other redeeming feature about this show and would recommend against it. If you want to watch something familiar to it setting wise but much more better I would suggest "Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka?", which did everything much better and succeeded in being a good Slice of Life show.

Nothing stood out, except the beautiful and detailed sky shots with their expressive and colorful clouds, nothing was too outstanding. The characters were clear and understandable, you knew their pasts and the reason for the things they did, but you didn't care. The story left us with questions at the end, I myself had 5 of them. The second season is likely going to answer these questions but I didn't find the story engaging enough to continue watching. The story couldn't decide if it wanted to lean more towards being a funny show or a serious one and because of this failed at both.
The show
...
had potential, the first episode was one of the best first episodes I have ever seen. The beautiful background art with the catchy music, adding to that funny and mysterious characters, it got my attention from the very beginning. The characters later on proved to be boring - from episode 4 or so, I couldn't sympathize with them anymore and started not caring about what happens to them. Despite the numerous questions left unanswered, the story was decent, however it wasn't good enough to carry the show through.
The characters felt like a decent looking meal that had no taste, not enough emotional attention was given to their past and their feature actions didn't quite had the punch. The reason for all of this, I believe, is because the show couldn't decide what it wanted to do. It didn't wanted to be too heavy on emotions and decided to have comedic moments, but it couldn't juggle both at the same time. The characters were not sympathetic because they didn't went full on with the emotions, the comedy failed because they started sneaking in half-arsed emotions that were incomplete due to the comedic nature of the show. It is fine to have comic characters that act as a stress relief, which release the tension, but when the overall mood of the show leans towards to comedy more then drama, everything mixes together and nothing gets properly done.
If the show had anything outstanding it was the music and the background art, they were top notch, it always caught my attention. Especially the clouds, they were drawn beautifully with great detail, their color popped up and grabbed your attention. The shadows and the overall shading of objects was well done.
With its decent story that left many questions behind, and the unsympathetic characters that were well understood but couldn't fully express themselves due to the comedic and light nature of the show, it is possible to think that the show would be pretty bad.
But it is still possible to enjoy it. Instead of looking for a story or trying to understand their past, if one instead focused on the present and just watches over the friendship between the characters, their relationships and interactions, then it is possible to enjoy it. At the end, the overall theme of the show is friendship and how it can win through any hardship, so if you are up for it, give these girls and their relationship a chance.

A story about two people, they meet by a lucky encounter, the women falls in love and by time the men follows. It is a simple story, one that all of us live through, it is a story about life.
In this 3 minute video there was almost as much emotion as a 12-24 episode emotion and drama filled anime. As the pendulum swings time passes by and we are able to witness their life, the happy moments and the sad ones, their regrets and grief. Since there isn't much to review in this video other then the story and since I don't want to
...
spoil anything, I will just explain what I learned from the video.
The first thing that I learned from this video was how much a single choice can have difference in our life, we often forget how much each of the choices we choose in our daily life effect us because we do them all the time and don't see an immediate effect, but each of our choices in the long term will have life changing consequences. Most of us already know that but forget it again and again, and sometimes needs to be reminded of it.
The second thing was, to remember that one day we all will die, that is why no matter what happens we should be careful to not regret our actions, each day we spend is a day lost, a day that we can't take back. Before we sleep we need to ask ourselves, did I do anything today that I regret? Was there anything that I would had wished to do differently? And if you find anything at all that you wished you could do differently, then you must again remind yourself, you don't have an eternity to fix it, so you must fix it now, while you still can. Or at the end, when it is too late to do anything about it, you will regret it and wish that you had done something about it sooner.
Just because you did all you could about something doesn't mean you can fix it, things might still go wrong. At that moment all you can do is understand that, that is just how life works, you can at least rest easy, because you did all you could do.
I would recommend everyone to watch it, if possible with a clear mind and in a silent environment. You might dislike it, that can't be helped, the video won't click with everyone the same way, but it is only 3 minute long and I doubt you would mind if at the end all you lost was your 3 minutes.

In Momokuri we take a peek at the life of Kurihara Yuki and Momotsuki Shinya, as they begin dating - they start dating from episode 1 - they go though many different things, such as new emotions that they didn't knew existed, make happy and sad memories, celebrate Christmas and each others Birthdays, look after each other in times of sickness and being together in times of hardship - not that there is a lot of hardships or anything. This show is drama free with no hard emotions, it only contains happiness and rainbow so there is no need to worry about our couple and
...
just watch it in a carefree way.
The show is Slice of Life in nature - tho the Slice of Life element kind of fails, each episode we follow our couple as they go through their daily life and experience the taste of being in love. Both of them are innocent when it comes to love which results in a lot of blushing and awkward moments. Sometimes the narrator changes from Yuki to Shinya and vice versa, as the narrator changes we get to see what they are thinking and understand their perspectives.
Shinya goes through some character development while Yuki pretty much doesn't change, there is no story or plot either. There is a bit of character conflict through the end but it is nothing major. Our characters personalities pop up here and there but most of the time it falls flat, Yuki especially gets almost no personality at all, while Shinya is more complete. The characters seem too narrow, too stuffed, if that makes sense. The flow of the story seems to carry the characters rather then characters acting on their own. It seems that certain things happen because they must happen rather then because the character acted that way. In a way they don't seem alive and because of this I can't really empathize with them, I understand their emotions and reasons for doing the things they did but these emotions don't seem real and feel more fake. If our characters weren't a couple then there would be nothing more left in them and that is why the characters seem like they are not complete. I did enjoy the character interactions anyway, when they get together their interactions are more alive and full of emotion. The problem with the characters can be overlooked if you are just here to enjoy a sweet and cute romance without bothering too much about anything else.
The main selling point is the character interactions, mainly our couple. It is almost always filled with blushes and cute interactions, both do not know how to act around each other and sometimes feel awkward and clumsy. The whole thing feels innocent and pure. The comedy isn't strong and because of the problem with the characters the Slice of Life fails, since they don't behave like an individual.
If you wish to watch a soothing, cute and innocent show about two people falling in love then give this one a try, it has its weaknesses but the strong points are big enough that you can overlook the weaknesses and still enjoy. If you wish to have well written characters, comedy or good Slice of Life then you should avoid this one.

Criminale! is a manga that is based around comedy and gives off slice of life feeling, the manga is all about the characters that are interesting and fun in their own way. We follow Ichimura Tamito as he meets new people, makes friends for the first time in his life and tries to lead an ordinary life while getting mixed up in different criminal activities such as kidnapping, pick pocketing, arson, robbery, molestation, and more such fun activities.
The comedy is achieved by pulling off something bizarre in the middle of nowhere, catching you off guard. The comedy doesn't repeat itself and new ideas
...
are thrown around each chapter, you won't get bored by anything repetitive and should enjoy the interactions between the characters. The reason the comedy works so well is because of the characters and how they deal with these bizarre situations.
The concept itself is interesting, from reading the synopsis you should get the gist of it. There is no real story development going on, it is the characters that lead the manga. You shouldn't expect anything too serious, it doesn't have things like drama or hard emotions. It is pretty easy going and fun till the end, there are few emotional stuff thrown there and here but those only last for 2-3 chapters. It has quite a few one-sided love going on but I won't be telling how those end, you should enjoy finding that out yourself and the ending of these romance doesn't have any impact on the overall manga itself anyway so it shouldn't be the deciding factor on if you wish to read it or not. That doesn't mean that there is no romance, some chapters are spent only about the characters that are in love trying to get attention of their crush and spending more time with them. It definitely has its cute moments but the romance should only be treated as a side bonus and not the main thing that is going on.
The character themselves, as I have told before, are the main selling point here. They are all "Criminal" or suspected of being "Criminal" in the future. What type of "criminal" they are will have a huge impact on what kind of character they are. Each character is a different type of criminal, and the reasons for them being criminal are all interesting. The author did a good job of giving life to the characters, by giving emotion and reason. Of course since this is mainly a comedy manga they don't have too deep emotions or anything similar, but for a manga that aims to be funny, it did a good job.
You should be looking to read this manga if you wish to read something funny, it also gives off a slice of life feeling so it isn't like there is only comedy, there is more to that. It is like peeking to the life of a group of friends and their mishaps, how they got together and what they are going to to in future.

I first got interested in this show after seeing a gif. It was the pretty and clean art style that got my attention. After that I watched the first episode and then came the rest. The art was just as I expected , it had bright and cheerful colors that set the mood of the show.
The character designs weren't your average cliche designs, instead we got characters that are breath of fresh air, they won't resemble any other characters and you will enjoy watching them. Combined with the art, all the characters really pop out and instantly grab your attention. It wasn't only the
...
art and character design that made the characters stand out, their personality and who they were also was a plus. There wasn't any character development, but their personalities weren't too annoying or needed any major changes. There was a bit of emotions thrown in there near the second half of the show but it isn't anything too major, to begin with this is a Slice of Life show so you shouldn't expect too much of a plot or changes in the characters.
It really had quite a few funny scenes and romance moments, tho the romance itself doesn't go anywhere, it nevertheless was cute. The interaction of characters in love was also sweet, there was a lot of blushing and embarrassing moments, also lets not forget the awkward ones. They all were innocent when it came to love and I felt like watching a couple of kids fall in love with each other. I just wanted them to hurry up and get together already but, sadly, that didn't happen, which brings me to my only disappointment with this show.
From how they always acted I was sure that they would get together at the end, half my disappointment is because I just really wanted them to be happy together. I wanted to believe that the romance would give fruit at the end but that disappointingly didn't happen, the show had good pairings and characters that I cared, for that reason when they didn't get together at the end I was pretty disappointed.
If you wish to watch a funny and cute Slice of Life anime then give this one a shot, with its art, animation and characters, I am sure you will enjoy it. Don't expect any romance, as that will only lower the full enjoyment you can get from the show.

"Seriously, what a crappy ending..." - Pina Sformklan Estor, one of the supporting characters.
This review contains spoilers regarding the ending.
This show is rated R+ for mild nudity and has an Ecchi tag, the reason being is the fan service and uncensored boobs. You should keep this in mind if you are going to watch it, the boobs themselves appear every episode for 1-3 minutes.
I had high hopes for this show, beside the fan service and the boobs, the show had interesting characters with potential, even tho I knew that I shouldn't had hoped for such a thing, I had hoped that the romance would go
...
somewhere and we would end in a good note, but as you can see from the quote above that sadly doesn't happen. Sadly the MC has a deadly disease known as being dense as a black hole and as such he can't understand that the girls are interested in him even if they are fighting for a chance to spend time with him.
The characters are interesting and aren't shallow, you know why they do what they do and understand their reasoning - at least the 2 main heroines. The MC is your common run-of-the-mill Harem MC. It is something that appears a lot these days, the show or the manga tries to make the MC as ordinary and empty as possible so that the viewer can project himself on him, in an attempt at trying to make the MC likable by every viewer they make him shallow and bland so that no one gets offended or dislikes any particular part of him. Well because of this reason the show failed miserably.
If one wants to watch this show then he/she shouldn't do it for the ending, and only do it for the fan service and boobs, which I must say, in itself was pretty well. The animation is done in a neat way, it is fluid and looks natural, the art itself is pretty good too, it is definitely better then most Harem series out there. When you add the pretty characters to the great looking art then it creates a good eye candy.
If you wish to watch a fan service anime with boobs and pretty girls, then without a doubt give this show a try. The romance didn't go anywhere and the MC is dense so you shouldn't expect anything from that department. Overall what it lacked the most was what almost all Harem anime lacks in common, a daring, bold and interesting main character.

Hyakko is a comedy show that is meant to be funny, in such a show there is no plot or character development, its main selling point is the interactions between characters and the funny situations it leads to. Because of the nature of this show, then, there is only one question that needs to be asked, is this show funny? Is it satisfying what it set out to do? Is it making the viewer laugh?
Such questions are hard to answer, each persons taste of humor is different, all I can hope to do is try and explain how the comedy in this particular show works,
...
hopefully from that you can understand if you would find it funny or not.
The comedy in this show uses one formula, events happen, the characters react to this events, they interact with each other while doing so and at the end comedic moments appear. Does it succeed in doing that? In my honest opinion it doesn't.
This show seems to try too hard in being funny, it is like they tried being overly funny but because they went too far with the "overly" part it ends up falling flat, they try to introduce random elements and make fun out of these situations but once again these random elements fall flat, when a show tries to be random all the time can it be called random anymore?
The characters themselves fit to their own stereotypical images and are boring, perhaps this is one of the main reasons this show fails. All of the characters can be explained in few words at most. The "energetic" one that is always cheerful and causes problems, the straight man that sets the "energetic" one straight, the naive and innocent one that wishes for both straight man and "energetic" girl to get along, and then there is one called Suzume, which is basically empty, it can be hardly said that she even has any personality.
This show tries to be funny all the time and at the end, that is what brings it down. That doesn't mean the show itself was bad, it just means that it didn't suit my own taste. If you are a fan of shows that are always up-beat, trying random stuff, cracking jokes right and left - although sometimes low on quality - then you may enjoy it.

Kemono Friends, Dora the Explorer of Japan is an easy-going show that the viewer can watch without putting a lot of effort into understanding the story. Just sit back, relax and unwind from all the scary stuff you might had watched from earlier shows.
This show doesn't have a story going for it, you can figure what is going on from the synopsis here on MAL and just watching the first 2-3 episodes, and even then the story isn't anything too ground-breaking. As I said before it is a show that is meant to be relaxing and easy-going.
The background art isn't too bad but the animation
...
and sound quality is below average, the VA aren't doing too great either. Production wise this show would get 4-5 points and that is it. If it is terrible production wise then what else is there for it? I had said the story itself isn't great either then what is left? Well of course the characters!
In a show that has below average production and almost no story, characters make up the whole thing. But sadly in my honest opinion this show doesn't have strong characters too. They are all shallow and have no depth to them, that is, if you are looking for a depth in characters.
What I mean is, this show isn't meant to be deep or anything complicated like that, this show is probably meant to be aimed towards kids or teens. While watching it, it reminded me of Dora the Explorer, they are on a journey, they face troubles in the journey, by the help of people around them they solve those troubles and also help those people in return and so on. When I say that I don't mean to say that people who enjoy this are kids or anything similar, but if you are going to watch this then you need to stop and not think of anything that is going to happen, if you question things, try to look for good characters or story then you will not find any.
So should you watch it then? If you are looking for an easy going anime after watching a heavy, drama based anime that has depressed your hearth then it is the show for you, though if I were you I wouldn't expect too much from it.
If you still want to watch it then I would recommend watching till episode 3-4, after that if you still don't like it, you can drop. It doesn't get any better and would be waste of time.
