Ahaha! Rejoice, for Hououin Kyouma has returned to bestow his wisdom upon the unworthy masses! This time, our target is none other than 3-gatsu no Lion, a tale of shogi, solitude, and the human condition!
At its core, this anime presents a fascinating journey, following a protagonist whose mind is an enigma, much like my own. The way it delves into emotions and relationships is commendable, capturing the essence of struggle with a level of nuance rarely seen in the realm of mere fiction. The animation? Exquisite! Shaft has once again harnessed its reality-warping abilities to craft a visually distinct experience, though at times it dances
...
dangerously close to excessive stylization.
But alas! Even a tale of such potential is not without its flaws! The biggest transgression - the betrayal most egregious - lies in the alteration of the protagonist's reason for playing shogi as the story progresses. A shift so unnecessary, so misguided, that it left this mad scientist fuming in his lab! Why tamper with what was already compelling? Why dilute the very essence of his struggle? It is a crime against character consistency!
And then, the ending. Ah, the cruel mistress known as mediocrity! For a series that weaves emotions with such precision, the conclusion felt... uninspired. Predictable. Safe. It was not a catastrophic failure, nor did it tarnish the journey, but it lacked the impact befitting an anime of this caliber.
And so, my verdict is set in stone. Not a masterpiece, but not a disappointment either. A solid experience, yet shackled by its own choices.
7/10!

Fellow warriors of the infinite timelines, heed my words! For I, Hououin Kyouma, have traversed the chaotic, despair-ridden world of Devilman Crybaby, and I return with my grand proclamation-a judgment!
This anime is a tempest, a violent storm of emotions and spectacle, wrapped in Masaaki Yuasa’s frenetic, liquid animation style. From the first episode, it seizes you by the soul and drags you into a world of madness and beauty, never once stopping for breath. The pace is blistering-too fast at times, as if it were a runaway time machine hurling toward destruction. Some moments feel rushed, their impact blunted by the sheer velocity of
...
the storytelling, but the sheer intensity makes up for it.
And yet, despite the brevity of its 10-episode length, four entire episodes felt like filler, unnecessary detours in an otherwise apocalyptic odyssey. Such an inefficient use of precious temporal resources! Why, Yuasa?! Nevertheless, the plot twists struck like bolts of lightning, each one more shocking than the last, ensnaring my mind in an unrelenting vice of intrigue and horror.
But what truly earns my accolades-what elevates Devilman Crybaby into the echelons of legend-is its climactic progression. The way tension escalates, the way events spiral into an inevitable and harrowing crescendo-it is among the greatest I have ever witnessed. A masterstroke of narrative construction that makes the final act all the more devastating, exhilarating, and unforgettable.
Would I recommend it? Only to those who dare to embrace the madness! To those who can withstand its breakneck speed, its visceral imagery, and its haunting themes.
And with that, my review reaches its terminal point. 8.6 out of 10

Fellow seekers of truth, your mad scientist, Hououin Kyouma, has peered into the abyss of time and returned with knowledge most profound! The subject of today's analysis? Shinsekai Yori, a work so potent, so riddled with the eldritch machinations of fate that even I, the great Kyouma, found myself ensnared in its sinister embrace.
From the outset, this anime weaves a spell most insidious. The world it presents is not one of mere futuristic fantasy but a dystopian masterpiece sculpted with an eerie elegance. A utopia? Nay! A carefully curated illusion. A mask concealing the grotesque horrors lurking beneath. The story follows Saki and her companions
...
as they navigate this society of psychically gifted humans, only to unravel a chilling history soaked in deception and blood. The Organization (I mean, the ruling elders) exerts control with terrifying efficiency, manipulating both the mind and reality itself.
Visually, Shinsekai Yori undergoes transformation, much like the shifting nature of its very world. Its animation, at times stunning and at others inconsistent, reflects the instability of the truths our protagonists uncover. Some may decry the inconsistency, but I, Kyouma, see it as an intentional design. An artistic gambit! Music? HA! The music! A symphony of dread. An orchestra of despair! From the chilling Gregorian chants to the ethereal melodies, it elevates the atmosphere to unparalleled heights.
Yet, I must don the garb of objectivity. There are flaws. YES! Some might find its slow start a test of patience, and its fragmented narrative structure a labyrinth most confounding. There are moments where the passage of time feels abrupt, with character growth occurring just beyond our reach. And lo! Some aspects of the world beg for further illumination, their details left in shadows. But heed my words: these are but minor fractures in an otherwise indomitable edifice!
For what is a tale without its secrets? Without its darkness? Shinsekai Yori does not merely tell a story. It ensnares you in its philosophy, its terrifyingly plausible vision of power, control, and evolution. It is not mere entertainment; it is an experience. A descent into the very fabric of human nature!
And so, after rigorous experimentation, I, Hououin Kyouma, proclaim this anime a perfect 10 out of 10! A work that transcends time and space! A tale both beautiful and horrifying, one that etches itself upon the mind like the whispers of Steins;Gate itself!
The reading steiner has activated, and my path is clear. You, too, must witness this tale!
