People like long stories spanning years over a characters lifetime showing their growth along with their allies, enemies, and world as a whole. It worked for Berserk, it worked for Kingdom, and it absolutely, positively, did not work even slightly for Grancrest Senki.

The issue with Grancrest Senki is that the writer forgot to put the story in the story. the best comparison to make is to a Minecraft content creator who "did a little mining off camera". Angel Beats! (Anime) add
There are some shows that I dislike just as much as Angel Beats, but with those shows I can put together some fathomable reason as to why others might. I didn't like season 1 of demon slayer, but I can't argue with its superb animation and admit it works as an average shonen story. I don't like SAO but it did have an initially intriguing plot and if you like isekai then it could be for you.

Angel Beats, however, does not have a single thing I could pull out of the depths of my ass to compliment this show with.

I have never had a bigger disappointment than when I watched B: the beginning.

I initially was exited to see it, the premise was promising, a somewhat supernatural mystery with a cool vigilante guy. In addition to the seemingly great fight scenes. However, this very quickly was dropped to focus an a half-assed story that had me checking every five minutes if I accidentally skipped to the second season.
