As someone who really enjoyed the original Suicide Squad movie, I was really excited for this anime, though I had some reservations about the decision to make it an isekai Anime. And that worry turned out to be justified. The whole thing ended up being painfully average, with a story that felt forced and eventually spiraled into an incoherent mess by the end.
I feel like there was so much potential here but it was all wasted. The opening is an uninspiring mashup of music, characters from the fantasy world have shallow backstories and are painfully stereotypical, the world-building is practically nonexistent, and the plot is
...
dull, forced, and confusing. I feel like the biggest problem in all of this is that they opted to make the story into an isekai. The anime market is so over saturated with isekais these days which makes it so hard to stand out in the genre. And the fantasy world in " Isekai Suicide Squad " is quite frankly even below average, which causes the entire project to suffer. There's plot twists which are there to keep the story interesting but you can mostly smell them miles away. The animation can get choppy and goofy at times which just further adds to the negatives, though admittedly some fights in the later episodes were animated well and ended up being enjoyable.
When it comes to the positives, I always try to be fair to shows and give it the benefit of the doubt. The show did a good job in advertising itself and I had seen a lot of posts on social media and trailers long before it even started airing. And let's be honest here, capitalizing on the trend of western franchises getting anime adaptations was a clever strategy. "Suicide Squad" is a name many people are familar with, which makes it easy to get people interested in your anime. The DC villains were drawn really well and especially Harley Quinn looked phenomenal. In fact, Harley Quinn was one of the few highlights of this adaptation. Her character design, voice acting, and overall portrayal all came together so well.
In the end, this turned out to be a huge disappointment, though my high expectations likely played a big part in how let down I felt. There's just too many issues that prevent you from truly enjoying "Isekai Suicide Squad" and I honestly also cannot recommend this to anyone curious whether they should watch it or not. It was average, though you could also make a case for it being even worse and I would fully agree. It's sad, but this one truly missed the mark.

If I had to use a word to summarize "Giji Harem" it would probably be wholesome. The romance in this anime is incredibly sweet, and I found myself constantly smiling at their interactions. I must admit that I did not have high expectations based on the name which seemed a bit cheesy, but I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I ended up liking this. I was however, very confused about the pacing in this show.
What I mean by that, is that the show has issues in how to pace the plot. The story tends to jump around as the two main characters, Nanakura
...
Rin and Kitahama Eiji, develop their blossoming relationship. There isn’t a clear plotline that the show follows, and at times, it’s hard to tell how much time has passed between episodes or even between scenes in some cases which tends to get confusing and harms the watching experience. Towards the later stages of the show it starts to skip a LOT and the time jumps seemingly get bigger as the plot moves in such a quick pace. This leads to the anime feeling a bit rushed. I wasn’t a fan of the art style and animation either as it felt too simplistic. It’s hard to describe, but when compared to romance series from larger studios, the visuals just seem very basic and they lack a certain flair.
With the negatives out of the way, I liked that the last episode truly feels like it wraps the story up and gives a satisfying conclusion, which is again after a rather large time jump where it also does not get specified just how much time was skipped. Nevertheless, the story is finished and without spoiling too much I feel like this project does not require further seasons as the story is complete. I really want to praise the Japanese voice actors of the two main characters as they did a fantastic job in giving life and depth to the characters which was really important. Both of them are very known names and have appeared in many popular Animes, so I suppose it was to be expected of them.
This romance feels very different from the usual romance. The "Harem" aspect is honestly pretty creative and works most of the time. I ended up enjoying this a lot, especially cause of the dynamic the two main characters have. The way they interact and flirt is just so unique and adorable. It does have some issues and flaws but the positives outweigh it, leading to a very good romance anime. I think that avid romance fans such as myself will truly enjoy "Giji Harem", and I would recommend giving it a try. I think you won't regret it.

Before the anime even started airing I had seen so much advertising about it alongside the famous brainrot dance video that it was really hard to miss this one. So when it comes to advertising, one has to say that they did a masterful job. Every Anime fan I knew was aware about the existence of "Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan", and was at least curious to check it out. When it comes to the actual content of the show I can only say that it was peak brainrot.
This was packed with references to pop culture, memes, and even other anime and consisted of mostly gag
...
humor that was hit or miss. When adding to it the fact, that it lacked a coherent plot, it made for a chaotic viewing experience. I'm not exaggerating when I say that if you asked me what the anime is about, I couldn't give you a clear answer. Honestly, I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not.
It's important to mention that Animes like this are not meant to be taken serious, which is why it is always hard to give honest critique. So it's better to answer it in very simple terms. Can this anime be enjoyed? Most definitely. I had a fun time watching and found myself laughing to most of the gags which lead to an overall positive watching experience. Some of the running gags get old rather quick because they get overused a bit too much, but it doesn't get obnoxious. It all sorta works because the anime does not try to be more than it sets out to be and does not take itself serious.
This is one of those Animes where you just have to turn your brain off and enjoy the utter madness that is unfolding on your screen without thinking too much about it. When it comes to the plot, you can't really expect too much from "Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan". The voice acting was fine and the opening remains deeply ingrained into the deepest corner of my brain, where it will probably remain for a while. If you enjoy comedy and gag humor and are looking for something light without a plot, where you can just turn your brain off, you'll probably enjoy this anime.

Honestly, Blue Lock surprised me. I haven't seen many sports anime, because it's very different from what I usually enjoy, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I ended up liking it. The plot has a good balance between being based in realism and including made up elements and players, which made it both fun and surprisingly believable. They even throw in real-life events, like Germany winning the World Cup, and casually mention stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. It gives the whole thing a cool sense of realism while still being its own story.
The plot is solid for what it sets out
...
to do. Japan is on the hunt for its next star striker to lead them to a World Cup victory. They gather 300 talented young strikers at a special facility, where they compete in different tournaments and matches to find the absolute best of the best. It has solid antagonists, protagonists and plot twist which keep the story interesting though it's obviously a bit limited on how far it can go (considering it's an anime about sports).
I personally really dislike CGI in anime if it's badly done and Blue Lock suffers a lot from having way too much bad CGI. They use CGI in basically every episode and it looks comically bad. People run across around the field looking like an NPC from a PS2 game and their model looks lifeless which is a shame. I understand that animating some of the scenes was probably hard but opting for CGI was the wrong choice, in my humble opinion. It breaks immersion and negatively impacted my experience of watching.
I really enjoyed watching it and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys football. The way they weave in real events and players adds a nice touch of realism. It’s rare to see an anime balance real life and fiction so effectively, but this one does it surprisingly well. I suppose some people might not feel as annoyed or disturbed by the CGI, but I guess that varies from person to person. I can only speak from myself and say that I found it so bad at times that I couldn't help but laugh. A charming and entertaining story nevertheless all around, which was better than I thought it would be.

I actually stumbled across this movie completely randomly while looking for time to kill without having heard anything beforehand and also only found out after it ended that there is a second movie which tells a different perspective of the same story. Therefore, I went into it with no expectations, and while I thought it was a good movie, I have to admit that it has some issues that keep it from being great.
The story is actually quite charming. It’s hard to explain in just a few words but for simplicities sake I will keep it brief. "Boku ga Aishita Subete no Kimi e" is
...
about a boy and a girl who fall in love after the girl admits she’s from a parallel world where they are already a couple. From there, it turns into a story that mixes aspects of parallel universes, travelling across them and a classic romance. The two characters switch between multiple parallel timelines without even noticing it sometimes and to be quite honest it tends to get rather confusing quickly. There was multiple times where I was not sure what iteration of the characters I was witnessing and whether it was the original two or not. After the two main characters fall in love, the pace advances in blistering pace, skipping multiple years at a time. What this means is that for example you end up watching their wedding ceremony and the next scene has them living in their own home with a child. Anime movies always tend to have the issue that they simply do not have enough time to tell the story to a satisfactory degree but in this one it feels particularly so. It feels like it skips many important milestones and moments in their blossoming relationship which would have given them so much depth. I was pretty confused during the last half hour, but the ending pulled it together and left me feeling satisfied.
That said, I’ve got to admit, for a 2022 movie, it doesn’t quite feel like one. The animation, especially the character designs, is pretty basic and doesn’t have any standout features. If you told me it was from 2012, I’d probably believe you. In my opinion, the movie's biggest issue is the poor quality of the voice acting (I watched it subbed). The main character, in particular, speaks with little emotion and no vocal variation during key scenes. His tone remains monotonous throughout most of the movie, which really takes away from the impact of the emotional and romantic moments. The voice lines are read of the script, without adding anything to it. The other voice actors are not exactly better either, but it’s especially notable in the main character. As a result, I found it hard to connect with the characters, as they lacked emotional depth. Whether this is the fault of the voice actors themselves, the studio or something entirely unrelated is unknown to me, but it’s a shame because it pulls the quality of the entire movie down.
Without knowing anything about it and zero expectations I found myself enjoying it to a certain degree, but it fails to break free from being anything more than just a good movie. It’s not bad by any means but not great either. Whether you will like it or not probably fluctuates from person to person, since maybe others are not bothered by the issues I had with it, and that’s totally fine. You can very much enjoy this as a movie and I recommend it, although it’s not gonna be the best movie you’ve ever seen but alas. It doesn’t have to be. And that’s fine too.

With the recent surge of anime adaptations based on established Western franchises, such as "Suicide Squad" , I was curious to see how the Terminator series would fare in its own anime. And unlike the disappointing Suicide Squad isekai anime, I felt that this adaptation was handled well. Even though I've never been a huge fan of the Terminator franchise and am not entirely familiar with its lore, I ended up enjoying this anime. The story told here is pretty coherent and it makes sense even with limited knowledge. The essence of the terminator movies is captured surprisingly well, transmitting the feeling of a dark
...
dystopian world where machines took over. This anime includes plenty of gore and blood, but it doesn’t feel out of place. It's believable that a killing machine would brutally tear through anything in its path.
The characters and plot are solid for what they are. Each character has their own flaws, and while eight episodes don’t provide much time for deep character development or extensive backstory, you still come to understand their motivations and actions. The plot also has a few twists and turns, some of which genuinely surprised me. The time travel elements are straightforward, with clear indications of the year in which the story is currently taking place, which helps prevent any confusion.
The soundtrack is somewhat underwhelming, as it doesn't really stand out. The animation is generally well done, though there are moments where heavy use of CGI is noticeable and doesn't look great. This is especially true in scenes where Malcolm is talking in a room with an AI named Kokoro. During wide shots, the CGI makes his model appear odd and lifeless. The voice acting is excellent, featuring many recognizable names from popular mainstream anime.
I admittedly felt a bit skeptical about Terminator Zero but came out of the experience with a net positive feeling. It is not a masterpiece by any means or features the best writing but it can absolutely be enjoyed even as someone who has seen little or nothing about the Terminator franchise because it is written in such a way that you do not need it. For me, this was a solid anime to watch in between other shows. With only eight episodes, it’s a quick watch. It was enjoyable as it is, without needing to be anything more or overly complicating it.

Before I even got to watching this anime, I had already heard a lot about it. I heard it being described as a "messed up and gory mess", while others claimed it was one of the most traumatizing things they had ever seen. Wanting to form my own opinion, I approached it with more or less mixed expectations.
It's safe to say that those statements are blown just a bit out of proportion. While this anime is definitely disturbing and features some of the most gore I've seen in anime so far, it's far from unwatchable. I think, the real "issue" , lies in just
...
how incredibly dark and grim it is. Nearly every character has a tragic backstory filled with brutal deaths and sad life experiences, which gives the entire anime a bleak and depressing atmosphere. Everything feels so desolate, empty and it perfectly transmits this feeling of hopelessness.
For the most part, I felt more sad than disturbed as the depressing story unfolded. The anime includes a lot of nudity with uncensored breasts, which often feels out of place, especially given that much of the cast consists of children. More often than not, the show pushes the brutality too far, adding graphic scenes that don't serve any purpose to the plot and seem to be there purely for shock value, which comes across as cheap. Without giving away any spoilers, there's one scene where a dog is brutally killed, and it is one of the few things that genuinely made me flinch and feel uncomfortable.
Beneath all the gore there's actually a pretty decent story that eventually picks up after a slow start. I found the ending to be good. Not great, but not bad either. I felt that the "romance" aspects seemed out of place at first, but they are surprisingly well-integrated into the story. The big exception of this and the elephant in the room is that the anime does feature a developing relationship between cousins, and the characters are aware of said fact but sometimes it feels like they forget? It's... strange...
I think I should make myself perfectly clear that this anime is definitely not for the faint of heart. It contains a lot of disturbing content, including gruesome deaths involving both humans and, sadly, animals. Expect plenty of blood, guts, and various brutal scenes throughout. If you're not someone that gets affected by this then I think you will more or less enjoy this. The plot isn't particularly remarkable, but it's decent enough to make you feel like your time wasn't wasted. While I wouldn't typically recommend this to friends or fellow anime fans on MAL, it's worth a try if you're curious and can handle gore.

I was searching for a light anime to unwind with between larger projects when I came across this one. Normally, I don't judge an anime by its title, but this one is exactly what you'd expect from the name. Just from the title alone, you'd anticipate a rather average anime, full of clichés and a predictable storyline. And honestly, that pretty much sums up "Dosanko Gal wa Namara Menkoi".
The anime kicks off on a charming note with the main character Shiki, Tsubasa moving from Tokyo to Hokkaido, where he randomly stumbles upon a blonde gyaru called Fuyuki at a bus stop and befriends her.
...
Fuyuki Minami embodies the typical gyaru stereotype in anime—large chest, constantly hungry, and flirty—but she admittedly has a certain appeal. Despite the numerous fan service sprinkled throughout the first few episodes, I found myself drawn into the story. However, that's when the problems begin, as the anime struggles to find a clear direction and identity. More characters are introduced, each fitting familiar stereotypes: the "gamer girl" called Akino, Sayuri who is socially awkward and the "perfect girl" Natsukawa, Rena with short hair, top grades, stunning looks, and a heavenly voice. The show starts leaning towards a harem setup, with the three "main" girls seemingly interested in Tsubasa, but it never fully commits to it. It's hard to describe, but the characters don’t behave as you'd expect. For instance, when the protagonist goes on a date with one of the girls, the other two randomly see them and decide to spy on the date. Not out of jealousy, but out of curiosity and a desire to learn more about the girl.
The show fluctuates between genres, eventually leaning towards a traditional romance, with one girl seemingly gaining the upper hand, getting the most time with the main character and screen time. At the peak of their blossoming relationship, unnecessary drama and complications are introduced, which feels out of place and horribly forced. The following "resolution" of said complications is even more awkward, and then the anime fizzles out, ending in a way that’s confusing, unfulfilling, and ultimately disappointing.
There’s actually quite a lot to enjoy as the voice cast is incredibly talented, featuring voice actors you might recognize from popular mainstream anime. The show has some genuinely romantic scenes, and the beautiful snowy setting of Hokkaido adds a charming atmosphere that’s easy to appreciate which elevates it a bit from being just average. However, that’s where the positives end. The anime is riddled with inconsistencies, plot holes, and lacks a coherent story and pacing. "Dosanko Gal wa Namara Menkoi" is decent for what it is but unfortunately keeps itself from becoming anything more, which is a bit disappointing. Still, it serves its purpose well as a light, in-between anime, perfect for turning off your brain and enjoying a slightly above-average romance albeit with a deflating and disappointing ending.

I’m really conflicted about this movie. It strays far from being an alternative retelling of the Evangelion anime series and turns into something entirely different. There isn't a single scene that mirrors the original anime—everything here is completely new.
And to be quite honest, I can't decide if that’s a good thing or not. If this whole rebuild saga had been its own separate story rather than a rebuild, this would have worked much better, because the movie itself is quite good! But the plot takes such a strange direction that it almost feels like fanfiction of the original series, which is a bizarre feeling. There's
...
a 14-year time jump for some reason, yet none of the characters have aged, which makes no sense at all. It's briefly mentioned and attributed to the "curse of the EVAS," but the movie doesn't bother to explain what that actually means. The only noticeable changes to the characters are new haircuts, a pair of glasses, or a cool eye patch, but that's it, nothing else has changed in 14 years. It all feels hard to believe, and it seems like this movie undermines everything the first two films in the rebuild saga had established. It breaks established canon, with characters behaving strangely, and some barely resembling their former selves.
Shinji is kept in the dark and cast aside, treated like trash and shunned by everyone. Then, they’re surprised when he rebels and chooses to escape what essentially amounts to imprisonment. It feels like Evangelion, yet somehow not at all—it’s hard to describe the strangeness of it all.
I actually enjoyed this when I looked at it purely as a movie. It’s a perfectly fine film that can be appreciated on its own terms. I wasn’t particularly fond of the heavy use of CGI, but that might just be personal preference. However, as a "retelling" of the Evangelion saga, it felt off to me because it strays too far from the original and presents the characters in ways that don’t quite align with what you'd expect. With all that being said, you can probably still enjoy this movie for what it is but I prefer the narrative of the original rather than the rebuilding.

This anime is criminally underrated. Time jumps and other supernatural aspects make for an intriguing murder mystery set on a cozy island. Interestingly, the anime's title containing the word "summer" is reflected very well in its atmosphere. The background buzz of cicadas, coupled with the customary summer festivals typical in anime, creates the ideal summer ambiance.
After losing his parents, Shinpei Ajiro was taken in by the Kofune family, who have two daughters, Mio and Ushio. Although he moved to Tokyo for his education, Shinpei returns home after Ushio tragically drowns while trying to save a young girl. During her funeral, Shinpei's closest friend
...
reveals disturbing bruises found on Ushio's neck, casting doubt on the true nature of her death.
This anime takes you on a trip to figuring out those circumstances and does it in such an intriguing manner that episodes feel like they are 5 minutes long. Shinpei and his friends are a likeable group while the villains do their best to be a pain in the ass. However, viewers will encounter an anime brimming with negative emotions such as regret, despair and sadness as they delve into the plot. Shinpei endures immense hardships, becoming increasingly likeable as the story unfolds, though there are moments when he seems on the brink of breaking. His intelligence adds depth to his character, and what makes the anime particularly refreshing is that the antagonists are equally intelligent, creating the ultimate battle of wits to see who can outsmart whom. There's also a bit of romance included which makes this all the more interesting, resulting in a story which makes you feel a wide variation of emotions. The ending closes out the story, leaves no open questions and offers a satisfying conclusion. With no more Manga to adapt, the plot is finished and it should stay as just a one season anime because it does not need a continuation and it wouldn't work anyways without completely changing the formula of what made this anime so special.
I thoroughly enjoyed "Summertime Render" and highly recommend it. If I were to compare it to another series, it would be "Re:Zero" due to the protagonist dying multiple times, which triggers the time-travel elements. Both series also feature some rather brutal deaths which I guess isn't for the faint of heart. Nevertheless, I thought this anime deserves much more love and it was really, really good. Give it a try, and immerse yourself into this fantastic mystery.
